  1. My wife is a colon cancer survivor, so this really hit close to home. As others have all ready said, I considered Bruce a mentor. I have visited most of his waymarks in Galveston.
  2. Good to know that I'm not the only one who is having a problem tonight.
  3. I learned today that Mountain Woods, Warren Swan, passed away earlier this month. http://www.Waymarking.com/users/profile.aspx?f=1&guid=9c78f8ae-eee9-43ba-8ffa-37caad98a856&gid=6&full=false
  4. It appears to be fixed now. I only had to go through 88 emails. I'm sure there are some who had a lot more.
  5. Hey Kids - Anyone having problems uploading photos now? NEVER MIND... It started working.
  6. Thank you for contacting us about Waymarking. In order to support the rapid community growth of Geocaching.com, it was necessary to shift dedicated resources from Waymarking to Geocaching. Unfortunately, at this time we are only able to provide limited technical support. Please try posting your question on the Waymarking forums. These forums are monitored and can usually provide you with the best support. Best, Martin Community Management Lead -------------- This is the "canned" message you get from Groundspeak anytime you include the word Waymarking in any message. I'm so glad they care about "us".
  7. DAY 2... Anyone else sent a note to GS yet?
  8. Review que is filling up, waymarks I have submitted have been approved. No new messages from Waymarking in 14 hours.
  9. I have not received any email notifications on my submitted waymarks or waymarks to be reviewed for several hours. Anyone else having this issue?
  10. I guess I should read the message forum more often. Try: https://geotrailsw.com/wm/index.php I've used it to post almost 1000 waymarks using my cell phone and tablet. Contactme directly if you have any questions
  11. From THE FIRST OF A KIND description: There must be a plaque or similar signage at the site that confirms the FIRST, and an image of the plaque should also be supplied with listing submission. All plaques MUST have the word "FIRST" or "1st" (suitable synonyms like "Oldest" or "Original" are acceptable) in the text on them to qualify, as related to the FIRST. Plaques may be metal, carved stone, wooden or similar physical material. However, brochures and fliers, or images taken from online sources are NOT sufficient. Visitors must be able to learn about the FIRST by reading a plaque at the listed coordinates by being able to walk up to it and read it for themselves to learn that the location is the "FIRST of its kind".
  12. DougK You must have missed the last part of the category description: PLEASE NOTE: Waymarks that qualify for inclusion in the "FIRST of Its Kind" category will NOT be accepted here. There may be some waymarks that would otherwise qualify for that category except for lack of a identifying plaque, and those may be submitted here as long as there is other recognized documentation. I have approved quite a few based on this statement. If there is NOT A SIGN, but the person submits info from a BOOK, WEBSITE, or OTHER REFERENCE, I WILL approve it based on the merit of the information submitted. http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMXPKM_FIRST_Drive_In_in_Montana - Visit Montana Website http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMXTVK_FIRST_Masonry_Structure_in_Fromberg_MT - NRHP Documentation http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMXDXN_FIRST_Brick_Church_Building_in_Van_Alstyne_Van_Alstyne_TX - Church Website http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMXBWR_FIRST_Buddhist_Temple_in_Alberta - Town of Raymond Website http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMWWDZ_FIRST_all_electric_Cope_clock_ever_made_Nottingham_Nottinghamshire_England_UK - Southwell Churches Nothingham Website I used to cut and paste the "rule" when I reviewed Superlative "Firsts", but stopped. If anyone has submitted these to FIRSTS, I don't know about that as I don't review categories that I am not an officer of. I hope this clears up this matter. Have a great weekend! John
  13. WMXY57 FIRST Waymarkers Meet and Greet in the World I approved this waymark earlier today. I'm probably going to catch hell for it. But the way I see it, it fits in the category. For those of you that attended please make sure that you log your visit. MountainWoods has the honor of "owning it". The next time something like this takes place in Texas, only 300 miles from me, someone better let me know about it. Or maybe we could all meet at Woods' Ranch.
  14. My laptop died (about three years ago) and I have been using an Android tablet for Waymarking. For the most part, posts are simple and I can get by with my limited html skills, Bold, Center, Paragraph, Hard Returns. But I really need to be able to do colums, two or three lists of names found on many Veterans Memorials. I've tried On-line HTML Editor, but it just doesn't work well without the use of a mouse. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks BTW: I have posted over 600 waymarks and 700 visits using this tablet.
  15. http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMT7PZ_Pod_of_Dolphins_And_Mermaid_Galveston_TX http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WM8DCJ_Dolphins_and_Sea_Nymph_Galveston_Texas N 29° 18.367 W 094° 46.610 - mine N 29° 18.367 W 094° 46.612 - other The first is my waymark submitted in October 2016. The second was submitted in 2010. I submitted mine at the same time that the email fiasco was going on. Where no notifications were being sent. So that might be how this got approved. When I realized that it was a dupe, I just deleted it.
  16. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't your waymarks that I reviewed where I made a comment about an SUV that showed up in several photos. But I do know what you are talking about. I try very hard to make sure that I park far and away from the item to be photographed. But I have a few waymarks with the Wagon Queen Family Truckster in Metalic Pea, in the photo. (You missed my "Meatballs" reference a few months ago - let's see if you get this Chevy Chase film)
  17. My vote in peer review - NAY My Comments: Still too many questions for me to say yes. What about stuff in antique stores - can those be waymarked? What if they are sold? How does one prove manufacture date for an item that was mass produced for several decades? 1939? 1940? 1941? I see this as a reviewers nightmare - way too many submissions and too many waymarks are going to be declined. Just my opinion.
  18. Due to recent changes in the group, we have fallen under the required number of officers. Anyone interested please join for possible promotion to officer. Thanks
  19. Intentional extra blank line added.. On a similar note - since I have pending waymarks submitted in December, which will be approved in January, will those show for the month created or approved? How about an unfinished waymark created in June and submitted in January? I guess only time will tell.
  20. This is probably the best way to find waymarks. It uses your location. I've been using this for a long time.
  21. Talk? We Do The Dance Of JOY! The stats are working again! Thanks Groundspeak
  22. Ever heard of the 12 Days of Christmas?
