  1. That is a really cool analogy! I would have to add one.... Armchair caches would have to be like watching the movie version of a book.
  2. Why do I only lose things when I am alone on the trail meeting hubby and the kids at the other end of the trail? One time, I took a wrong turn on an overgrown trail to check something out...when I got back to the main trail, I realized that my 60cs was gone. It took me about 15 mintues of beating the weeds to find it. That was the last time I used that broken belt clip. Another time, I was taking a wooded trail when a passing branch lifted my sidekick right off my pants, just unclipped it as I brushed by. Luckily, the possibilies were limited. It was only 20 feet back and 3 feet down the hill. So far so good. Hopefully there won't be a next time. Frivlas
  3. So, I'm guessing there aren't a lot of 4 and 5 star terrain rated caches in Kansas? Looks like an interesting cache, btw.
  4. I am really curious as to how many people actually attended the previous events. If I got this right, there were 0 attended notes on the first, 1 on the second and 8 on the third. Even the non-events I have been two have at least 20 people attending. I assume that there were actually a lot more people there, but they were just not geocachers. Maybe having the majority of the attendees being non-geocachers should indeed keep it from being approved. Just a thought.
  5. You have corrupted your children to the point that the older one who is five picks up a potato chip can in the store and announces that he wants to hide it as a cache. Then wants to take your GPSr to school for show and tell the following week.
  6. Thanks for the Find Thanks for the cache Took Nothing Left Nothing HTH (hope this helps) Friv
  7. My boss came into our weekly meeting and was talking about this fun thing he had done with his kids over the weekend. We all browsed over the the geocaching site and I registered during the meeting. I discovered there was one near our house that I thought we could find without a GPS. When the weekend hit, we went and found it, and had our first trail encounter while sucessfully looking for our second one. We were hooked. We have friends who we have introduced to it....we take them with up and get them hooked, then they go back and sign up later. As a note - We've now been doing this for 6 months, just passed 1400 finds, and that boss that introduced me to it? He only found the one cache and never bothered to log it. sigh.
  8. Hi, My family is very much into classic cars, and we are always looking for a nice auto museum to vist. I would like to have a category called Auto Museums where the user would post: 1) The coordinates 2) The name and location of the museum 3) A Photo of the outside sign with their GPS 4) Any additional information that they have on the museum 5) Not required - a photo of a vehicle from the museum. Sound cool? Frivlas
  9. Took this one on the way to GCMVNP. Made it more of a challenge to find it.
