  1. I spent many hours climbing all over and around a tree clearly used as a bathroom for raccoons. I went back to the same stinky tree four times before I found the cache. I recall even saying to myself "I'm not going back there" but still did. p.s. Human poop doesn't smell like any other poop. Ask an anthropologist - when they want to know what kind of poop they found, they get it wet then SMELL IT.
  2. I remember walking around a huge lamp post, around and around, scratching my head - I just don't get it! That was a DNF until later, some muggle saw me at another site and told me "those things lift up". Ding!!! I high tailed it back to that lamp post to find that cache!! The ones that kill me now are in blackberry bushes! Ouch.
  3. Not everyone carries around a needle box but you can carry a chunk of styrofoam to stick the needle in. You could bring it to your nearest ER who could dispose of it properly for you.
  4. I love the last post about the blank check to our country. I put in 4 years USAF during Desert Storm. My husband put in 21 years in the Navy. He was on fast attack subs and loved his job. I have him home now and glad he is! Also proud to be a vet! I know I'm too late for the contest but I just want to say how proud I am of all of those who have served and continue to serve.
  5. Don't forget the people who think it's funny to make it more interesting by putting the actual cache site 10-15feet away from the given GPS coordinates.
  6. The first time I went camping my husband took me to Asateague Island, Virginia to see the wild ponies. We camped out in our new tent in a campground, brought our dog with us, it was fun. I didn't sleep all night cause I kept feeling bugs crawling all over me. Ticks. The dog kept a steady supply coming into the tent! I like sleep, I decided I don't like camping. P.S. We both got Lyme disease and I have never gone camping again!!
  7. Wow, sounds like a totally awesome time, nice call on the DD!!
  8. I had some issues uploading photos I took over the weekend and realized my pictures were too dense due to my new camera. I was able to crop them a little and they uploaded fine.
  9. I thought the whole point was to actually find the cache and log the log book and see the other stuff in the container. I have been out to one cache about 5 times now, probably have spent about 2 hours looking for it. Others have found it, so do I get to log it as found by default? I DON'T THINK SO! If I don't find the cache, I don't log it.
  10. A plastic grocery bag is my limit. I recently visited a DNF that had me in a homeless camp with enough trash to fill the back of a pick-up truck! TP in all the bushes and under the trees, almost too gross for words. Major kudos to those of you who do more than me.
  11. As a new cacher (and honest to a fault) I was a bit upset to find out how many geocoins and travel bugs go missing permanently. It makes me sad. Personally I'm only going to collect coins photographically. I had a great time "capturing" my first geocoin (digitally).
  12. Thank you all so much for your promt answers. I think I got it this time!!
  13. I logged in a local virtual cache with the answer to the question in my log. I didn't know I was supposed to e-mail the owner of the cache. Now I don't know how to delete my log!! Help!!
  14. there is an app called Columbus. it downloads the caches directly from the website, has listings of closest caches and even has turn by turn or compass headings. I prefer compass as it makes it more interesting, and gives you a coundown by meters to GZ. I'm no computer genius but figured it out easily!
  15. I found myself with the same problem. When you press print, your printer options page should come up. In the lower left hand corner is the Print Options section. It automatically selects ALL, so you need to reselect PAGES, this should solve your problem. Good Luck!
  16. I picked up my first geocoin, logged it in as picked up by me, then saw a thread on collected coins. How do I collect coins that are supposed to move on? I would like to collect coins, but would feel bad not sending the little guys on thier way. What to do?
  17. Walked in circles with my Tom-Tom, got a new I phone and tried it, now I get within a foot most of the time except under trees, then its a little slow.
  18. Only been caching about a month, love the hunt. I decided to increase the quality of the SWAG in the caches I find. You can buy super cheep cool stuff (you don't need to use McDonalds toys). I got a dozen brand new matchbox cars for 5.00, real prehistoric shark teeth, 10 for 10.00, and a dozen parachute men for 3.00. These would be great finds, super cheep on my end and more fun to find than ripped up paper. BTW, I've got a line on foreign coins, about a 1000 (yes a thousand) coins for like 30.00. I like the micro's and coins and shark teeth fit nicely! I do understand that this is a "free" sport and the economy sucks but I would rather just sign the log and thank the stasher than leave a broken toy. (Just my opinion - don't judge me) I tried to think like a kid and wondered what I would like to find. Happy hunting!
  19. I moved to the wilds of Oregon a few years ago and still getting used to woods etc. A recent hunt led me to a tree filled with raccoon poop. There was a ton of it! Stinky, stinky. Another hunt led me to a dry creek. As I was tromping around the waist high weeds I came across a deer skeleton and then a dog skeleton. A twig snapped and I realized I was all alone and it spooked me so I got back in my car and left - I will try that one later!! Last week while hunting in downtown Medford i saw smoke from a nearby lot. I went to check it out and flames started coming out of a parked car. I called 911 and the fire department showed up quickly and put it out, made the local paper the next day. It was a new Infinity, fresh out of the shop.
  20. My husband and I have seperate accounts because we don't always go together. I love to pick one up on the way home from work!!
  21. Ouch!! 15 feet away. As a very newbie I was very dissapointed not to find many at first, It would not have even occurred to me that someone would make it "more challenging" by not putting the cache at the stated coordinates.
  22. I live in Oregon, am a new cacher and had to go visit my mom in the hospital down in Arizona. During one of her naps I went for a look and found one on the grounds of Mayo Hospital in what else? A PILL BOTTLE!! It was perfect! It made my day!
