  1. I would like to be able to add coordinates to photos taken with a digital camera that does not have any kind of geolocation. Is there a way to do that?
  2. NO. Please do NOT set to "Auto" because that is the inappropriate default setting. Set it to somewhat higher like 1 or 2 miles. Hans BINGO!!!! Set to 2 miles. There they are. Thanks to everyone!
  3. Based on this part, the caches are correctly loaded into the device, so the issue is definitely with a setting on the device. Change the zoom level for geocaches to something really high (e.g. ~50 km/miles) to see if the caches show up on the map. If you can then see the caches, you can tweak the zoom level to one that makes more sense. If you still can't see the caches, then at least we'll have eliminated one possible source of the problem. Zoom level for geocaches .... is that in setup? Tried going into Map and zooming out with no luck.
  4. You can see them while navigating too. Make sure you set the right zoomlevels so you see caches when zoomed out enough to have an overview. on4bam, thanks but I cannot see them at all. I tried zooming in and out in an area with several caches. I am wondering ig I put them in the wrong place in the 650 or the wrong format. How do all of you transfer them into your 650? I have them all in one file named HomeCtr.gpx. Thanks.
  5. Hi All. I am new to the Garmin Oregon 650 following the tagic accidental death of my old and trusty Magellan Meridian Color. I am hoping that it is possible to see my loaded geocaches on the map on the Oregon 650, similar to how you can see them on geocaching.com maps. I have loaded about 150 caches contained in one file in .gpx format and I can see one at a time if I tell the 650 to navigate to it. The caches of which I speak were one of my pocket queries loaded into GSAK. From GSAK I exported the .gpx file to a folder on my computer. From there I copied and pasted from that folder to the Garmin > GPX folder. Can anyone give me some guidance? Thank you. Carl aka CarlfromOH
  6. Unfortunately, the Caches Along a Route feature does not work at this time. I had found this feature to be very nice ---- in the past. CarlfromOH CORRECTION: It appears that I am unable to create any Q's. I keep getting a "Secure Connection Failed". I am using Firefox.

  8. I am running into the problem that the "Site cannot be reached". I am creating my route via geocaching.com. My route is there, but when I try to create a Pocket Query I get the aforementioned message. I have used this function many times before. I made my route public so if anyone wants to test it out, please do. It is called "Kalispell to Babb".
  9. This thread is a couple of months old, but it came up on a search I was doing. It sounds like the OP is looking for a program or app for his iTouch that works like "CacheMate" works on the Palm Pilot. Can anyone answer the question in that way?
  10. nothing. it's supposed to work, but doesn't. they broke it in the last site update. OK, thanks!
  11. I hadn't been as active geocaching for a while. Now I have come back and realize I cannot filter out finds on searches. I have kept up my subscriptions as a premium member. What am I doing wrong?
  12. Didn't work in 4.3 and doesn't work in 5.0. My dot is yellow.
  13. Same here. Using GE 4.3 (beta) from July 2008. My dot is yellow.
  14. I rely heavily on an old copy of Microsoft Front Page. Perhaps you can find an online equivalent.
  15. No, you can't. You can use a very limited subset of BBCode (bold, italics, strikethrough, quote, a few colors and a few fonts) plus the smilie codes. Thanks! Oh, and you are the one with the great sig! I quote it but couldn't remember who's it was.
  16. Hi All, I swear I have seen a post on how to use HTML in your cache logs, perhaps from Keystone. I just can't find it and using the search function for "html" fails. Can I get someone to point me to it please? Thanks!
  17. And can you guess who my favorite all-time comedy team is?
  18. No, because a GPSr is fundamental to "geocaching". Of course, one could try Orienteering or Letterboxing without the need of GPS satellites. Hi Uncle Jimbo, I considered getting into the meaning of "geo" and "caching" in my original post but thought it would be too long. I also wanted to see if the discussion arose. People have set out caches for eons. I would argue, along with some others above, that with modifications to the listings and the use of maps, landmarks, etc. the hunt would continue! And perhaps there would be a run on sextants, chronometers, and compasses!
  19. So what do you think? Would you still try to geocache if for some reason the satellites went away? Would we replace the coordinates with something else? Or would we try to go to maps and compasses? What do you think? As for me, I think I would still try to geocache!
  20. Vinny, I have loved reading your, err, prose ever since I stumbled upon your Psycho Urban cache postings a while back. Keep up the good fight! Fight the Future! And don't trust anyone over the age of 30! Wait, that would include me .
  21. Hi meeisenb, Well, you won't necessarily need special footwear at (WARNING, SHAMELESS PLUG TO FOLLOW) CA_CA's Second Winter Event in Firestone Park, GC18GM0 but I have found the combo of HiTech leather waterproof hikers and toe warmers, if necessary, to do the trick! If it is frigid, I go with my Cabella-type boots. You know, the ones with a rubber bottom and leather tops. I got my HiTech's at Mickey's Army-Navy in Warren, OH. I think you can find a suede version at Famous Footwear. See you at Firestone Park! Carl
  22. Any body have a recommendation for a carrier/bag/pouch/holster for carrying your GPSr? I would be nice to also have room for extra batteries, small flashlight, etc Thanks!
