If I understand the tread correctly, I need to upgrade my gps (currently etrex 20) in order to fully use geocaching.com website to upload cache data. I was able to use the website with my old, old Mac but now with my new Mac I have to download the gpx file then plug in my gps and drag and drop gpx files. What is the next level of gps that will allow me to transfer files directly from website to gps?

No luck so I went to REI and we figured out this is the solution: To get the compass to work with a waypoint you: Menu---Data Field---choose any 4 you like Next Menu---Dashboard---Small Data Field NOT GEOCACHING (this is for geocaching setting only) Now when navigating to a waypoint you will be able to use your compass screen When you navigate to a geocache you need to change the dashboard to GEOCACHING to get the dedicated geocache compass.

How do I make a waypoint display in the full compass screen on an etrex 20?

Ok well I feel a little better knowing that it is not my gps or me. I guess I will just input the data, I have until Nov before the trip. Thanks

Ok so this is what I know. I have only downloaded gpx file, not loc The site I am trying to get the extra locations is GC7F3C I'm not sure what a GSAK tool is. I have a Mac OSX if that makes any difference. I did not find -wpts.gpx files in my PQ There are no new waypoints in my gps It looks like I may have to hand enter each coord! I don't think I had to do that with my old gps. Thanks for the help and please comment if you think of something else.

I have an etrex 20 that downloads just fine gpx files and pocket queries. I want to download a cache with multiple locations. When I download the cache file only the main location comes up. There about 15 locations on the page to hunt for. Do I need to put all of those files in manually? There has got to be an easier way.

I have a caching buddy that swears by GOOP (household). I think I do the scoring and maybe try that because it suppose to work on plastic. Will see. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the info. I wonder what the "premade" caches use to make a tight weld? I will try scoring and using Goop.

When gluing camo like a rock or bottle top to a small plastic "evil" cache, what is the best glue to use. I have used Gorilla Glue but that did not last long at all.

I finally figured out how to delete by deleting gpx files via computer.

Since I am using Mac OSX I guess Basecamp is out for me. I am trying to figure out how to find the gpx files to delete.

Is that something I have to buy just to delete a geocache?

How do you delete a geocache entry from the list of downloaded geocaches without marking it as found on the etrex 20 gps? The created waypoints are easy to remove but the geocaches just won't go away.

You were all right. I took out the degree symbol and it worked. I thought I tried that before to no avail. Also that is not one of the options on the online form. I should not try to follow directions to the letter. The cache is submitted. Thanks for your help.

I have hidden over 30 caches so I am not real new at this. I replaced a cache with a new hide. When I tried to use the online form I could not advance past page 2 because it could not understand my cache coords of: N 38º02.584 W 121º22.232 Yes my gps is WGS-84 What is wrong with the above coords?

Just signed up as a premium member hoping to be able to download cache pages in the gpx format instead of loc. format. I downloaded GPS Connect, Garmin Comm plugin, and Babel, all for the Mac OSX. I have Etrex Venture gps. All that will download into my gps are loc files. What am I missing? Is my gps not good enough to get complete gpx files? HELP

I have an etrex Venture HC. It has suddenly started to give very strange directions and distance. The compass will point in the opposite direction, when walking in that direction is reverses. If I turn off gps and then reboot it works fine. What is going on?

That makes sense as I already knew where the cache was. Maybe I wasn't really holding it flat and getting a good lock.

Thanks, next time I will not panic and see if it settles down. I really wanted to buy a new color gps though.

Thanks, I think. I figured the cache was in the wrong place. I was hopping that I had an excuse to buy a new gps with color, but if there is no reason to be concerned I may be stuck with my old gps.
