Number Of Satellites You Usually Track?
geoduck.5 replied to g0t0pless's topic in General geocaching topics
For any GPSr, you need to have no less than 3 satellites to give your position. Its called trilateration. For a good schematic of this look at this website: How GPS works The more satellites you have locked on your reciever, the more accurate your position will be. -

There is one program that does all...BeeLineGPS

I think BeeLine is working on incorporating maps in their program. I use the exact same programs/handheld pc as you do except for the PS. In the meantime, I'll remain patient and wait for BeeLine to incorportate maps.

Geocache Gaming Raises Concerns For Local Police
geoduck.5 replied to geoduck.5's topic in General geocaching topics
It is, or I should say, was under a pedestrian bridge that connects to a Lewis and Clark monument at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. Lewiston Idaho is also considered to be a sea port, and is one of the farthest inland sea port in the US. -
BeeLine gets my vote... new version (beta) just released. BeeLine

geoduck.5 replied to Grimlock's topic in General geocaching topics
I tried a bunch of them and the only one that I never had any problems with and has all the features I was looking for, was BeeLine GPS. It's a great deal at $30. You can download a trial version at BeeLineGPS -
Another nice internet mapping site is www.map24.com - much like Google, you can pan, without having to have the page refresh. And it has Europe! Map24

Morph Event Cache Into Multicache?
geoduck.5 replied to geoduck.5's topic in General geocaching topics
Thanks everyone for your help! -
I've been asked to create a geocache for an annual town event in Troy, Idaho this summer. I would like to make this a fun multi-cache that will take participants all over the town and have it end up at the park where the main activities will be going on. The local Lions Club wants to sponser theh geocache portion of the event. After the event is over, can I change the event cache into a multicache or do I need to submit a new request? Thanks in advance!

What about making them a virtual cache?

Garmin's Versus Ipaq /tomtom/ Gpstuner
geoduck.5 replied to CrazyCucumber's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have been using BeeLine for almost a month now. I tried the others too, GPS Tuner, etc. I wouldn't waste my time with the others. BeeLine is the way to go. Superb technical support, but first and foremost, it is a superb program for geocaching. Best $30 I've spent in geocaching, besides the premium membership for geocaching.com. -
Yep, BeeLine is the way to go. Much faster in acquiring the satellites. I found Tuner to be buggy. The support for BeeLine is excellent. Best $30 I've spent in geocaching.

Is there anyway to "check" the found box? Or do I have to do this in the field notes? thanks for the help!

I purchased BeeLine GPS a few weeks ago. I am extremely impressed by this program and its functionality. The programmers are always available for questions and suggestions. In fact, if you have a good suggestion and they can incorporate it, you will see that change within a week. It's worth the $30!

Thanks very much for your comments! I emailed them this evening about some questions and they answered my email right away. I'm sold, customer service is extremely important and it seems their committment to the product is superb. I agree, the program is so easy to use, but a very powerful program. I'm still trying to fiqure out GPS Tuner. Thanks! geoduck4
