help with going paperless

Cachemate is a good program. I also like to use BeeLine, it's an all in one database/navigation software package. -
From USGS, "If using a compass without adjustable declination (the orienting arrow cannot be adjusted – it always points to North on the compass dial), set your GPS to magnetic north. Your GPS will indicate a bearing of 350 degrees must be followed to reach the waypoint. Dial 350 degrees at the index line on your compass. With the direction-of-travel arrow pointed directly away from you, turn your body & compass in one motion until the red magnetic needle overlays the orienting arrow. Site a landmark along that bearing, and proceed. You will be traveling directly north toward the waypoint. If using a compass with adjustable declination, set your GPS to true north. Your GPS will indicate a bearing of zero degrees must be followed to reach the waypoint. Adjust the declination on your compass so the orienting arrow points to 10 degrees east. Dial zero degrees at the index line on your compass. With the direction-of-travel arrow pointed directly away from you, turn your body & compass in one motion until the red magnetic needle overlays the orienting arrow. Site a landmark along that bearing, and proceed. You will be traveling directly north toward the waypoint" If you are just using your GPS, it doesn't make too much of a difference, magnetic or true, but I always have mine set to True.

Right click on the file and use the "OPEN WITH" menu. It seems that your KMZ files are associated with your compression program that you are using. Other thing, right click on the KMZ and click PROPERTIES, then change the file association to open with GE.

I won't run, says something about a dynamic link. -
Try using FIREFOX. IE7 is pretty new, might not have all the bugs worked out yet.

I had this happen to me as well today. I'm sure it's on their list.

If the pasture is private property then...NO. But if the pasture is part of the cemetary then... have at it.

Geocaching game may have sparked bomb scare

Monroe PD actually signed the log and left a toy badge! Wow, that doesn't happen too often. See link: ttp://www.channelcincinnati.com/video/9733645/index.html?taf=cin -
If you already have a GPS built in, then try BeeLine. Sonar is only a database it does not have navigation. BeeLine is the only all in one package I've seen besides Cachemate with CacheNav.
-
I recently set out a cache that contained 3 TB's and a coin. Is it acceptable for another cacher to log the cache and take all 3 Tb's and the trackable coin? Or should they have left a few in there for others? No preference just curious what the consensus thinks. Thanks!

I also have a Dell Axim 51. I use BeeLine and have been a beta tester for Cachemate.
-
You are looking at this correctly. I could never figure out why others were using both. I use just BeeLine. It is the most complete and it offers excellent tech support.

Bonus - Wireless Access On Vacation
geoduck.5 replied to markp99's topic in General geocaching topics
Tiny Troy, Idaho (pop. 800) has free wireless internet for those who live close to the downtown area. Pretty soon, all major cities will have free wireless. -
Will be in that area at the end of the month, any caches that you locals could recommend? Thanks!

BeeLine is $30, Cachemate is $8. I have a case that my Axim sits in so the GPSr is out receving signal. Works great, have used it in all sorts of terrain with no problems. When it rains, I put a ziploc over it.
-
I too have a Dell Axim 5 and I use BeeLine from VisualGPS. www.visualgps.net The other one I like to use is Cachemate PPC version. Hope that helps.
