  1. Just thought I would update this thread. The TB is back in the wild and closer to its goal.

    EWU cachers?

Anyone here an EWU student and want to go caching some time?
  3. It probably hasn't changed over yet, give it a week and if nothing happens then contact Groundspeak.
  4. Looks like the person that grabbed your bug didn't log the cache find, yet logged picking up your bug from it. Then they mentioned an intention of bringing the TB to a Georgia state park. So if that find wasn't logged either, your Travel Bug may be inside a container waiting to be discovered. Good luck! Thanks, here's to hoping that is the case.
  5. no, The domain geocachingwa.org is owned by a Paul West and is still active. The error it gives "Forbidden" is due to the server being set up wrong.
  6. Please don't take this negatively as it isn't meant that way but a few things about your post really bug me. One, placing or not placing a cache has no bearing on how someone logs a cache. Mobile apps and GPS enabled cell phones have brought this game to a wider audience, myself included. If anything you should be thankful for that, more people looking for caches and eventually more people placing caches for others. Two, It's wonderful that you put so much effort into placing caches, thank you. If more people put as much effort into it we would have a lot of high quality caches. Three, From the sound of your post it appears to me at least that you're placing caches for the "kudos" that comes from a well placed cache and you're upset because people are logging from a mobile device and not giving you those kudos. If that is the case you may not want to place any more caches as it sounds like you're doing it for the wrong reason. I can understand wanting feedback on a cache that's one thing, but getting upset at a subset of cachers (players using mobile devices) for the way they play and trying to make the connection that since they play that way they are less likely to place a cache and therefore contribute less is just silly.
  7. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TB3EEGB was picked up Jan 1st by http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=0ed2226b-4821-441c-a07e-9e530f9da975 I sent him an email asking if everything was okay with the TB, but after looking at his profile a bit closer I've noticed he either doesn't cache much or doesn't log much. I've marked it missing but I kind of "miss" it. Should I write this off as gone? This is my first and only TB in circulation anyone have any experience with stuff like this, will it just resurface some day?
  8. Thank you, http://www.geocachingwa.org/ that was the link I was going to
  9. I just moved to Washington recently and started caching again, I looked at this site once but since then it has gone through various stages of being down. Any idea when it will be up again?
  10. I had a GOOD one. My doctor had a wonderful bedside manner. At first he just acted grossed out and then he took pictures. Then he said that he had seen pics of radiation burns that didn't look as bad and were probably less painful than that. Then he said that he was surprised that it hadn't gone systemic and killed me. I never went back to that %@^(er. haha, I must have used the restroom after touching the plant because :erm: yeah, well it sucks.
  11. Heh, title sounds kind of weird. I'm new to caching and am looking for other(s) to cache with in the Champaign Urbana area. I'm easy to get along with Anyway message me here if interested Daniel
  12. I have only tried finding ~5 caches, but after my first one I realized that carrying just a GPSr wasn't going to work. Currently I have a folder with printouts of my cache hit list. A can of bug spray a boonie cap my camera an inhaler (sad face is sad) Swag a pencil and sharpener pen water QR Codes (have my real name, geocaching.com name, and a link to my profile embedded in them) I try to keep my pack as light weight as possible. Things I'll be adding soon gloves --> these things are necessary first aid kit dry socks Things I would like to add eventually small cheap netbook (for updating and logging while on the road) more swag, always more swag.
  13. ....for the insurance companies. They aren't going to get a dime of my money. But I'll gladly go look for their branded token thingies if it will make them happy. Somehow I don't think it will. Cool! At 2 a.m. when you're standing in your driveway in your jockey juniors and everything that you have is gone, your home and everything in it is now just a smoking heap of rubble, maybe someone like me will come along and give you a bottle of water, something to wear and put you up in a local hotel until 10 a.m. checkout. After that if you have no insurance agent to call you are homeless and on your own. Good luck... this is when you learn that choices have consequences. But, you are free to make such choices. Isn't this a great country? FUD much?
  14. A company sponsors the container, and pays you for every logged visit. Yes, the horror... when people place caches for profit instead of for the love of the game, that will be the end of geocaching as we know it. The horror.
  15. No good can come from this. "The Big Mac" Cache "Just Do It" Geocoins "You're in safe hands" Trackables Luckily, I don't think thats much of a problem. Since caches are owned / maintained by individuals it would be pretty difficult to get ads placed. If companies placed their own caches then it's up to the cacher whether to find it or not.
  16. Sugar Creek is most definitely worth it. It's a shame you don't have more time, a canoe trip or tube trip is well worth it.
