  1. Put me down as a satisfied Offroute.com buyer. 3 Magellan Meridian Gold + accessories (inc. Mapsend Europe @$99) collected from store by Fedex on Monday arrived at my address in the UK at 10 am on the Wednesday. I even had Fedex confirming the whereabouts of the package at every transition stage. Brilliant. The communication from the store was also top line. 5* service all the way.
  2. Many thanks to all for your input. I think I may have the problem figured out. I'm not sure what the cycle time is for the unit to carry out satellite transition checks but it would seem that if the 'view' is distorted, even for a short while, the unit first tries to establish itself with the on-board US maps. Evidently this causes it some confusion and the memory appears to 'hibernate' until a proper fix is generated again. This would explain why all you lucky people in the States have no trouble. (This'll teach me to check more thoroughly before buying items set up for use in foreign climes - LOL) Good Hunting all.
  3. I'm very new to Geocaching and bought a Magellan Gold on recommendation. (Actually I bought three - one for each of the kids as well as myself). From day 1 one of the units has had a tendency to 'lock up'. Sometimes it won't power up, sometimes it 'locks' on a screen and won't budge. I have to resort to taking out the batteries, wait 5-10 minutes, reinsert the cells and try again. Usually it takes 3 or 4 attempts before the unit powers up again. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this model? If so how did you solve the problem? BTW I'm hooked on Geocaching already and only made two trips. When it works the unit is great - it has put me within two feet of three of the caches I have found so far.
