  1. I have installed Virtual PC which is supposed to run as if in XP... still can't get my Palm Z22 to sync. The computer is Windows 7 64bit. Has anybody found a solution to this short of buying a new hand held device for paperless caching?
  2. Ok, well excuse me. Maybe it can be done. One argument that I still stand by is that this is not a "cache rich" area. This is a rural area and the caches are not that close together and not as easily accessed and found as in a more populated area. I agree it is a game and while there are some rules or guidelines concerning posting a cache and hiding the cache... I could not find a "rule" concerning logging of the find. So I guess if a person wants to log massive finds in one day that IS their business. I personally do it for fun not the bragging rights associated with huge numbers. So I apologize if I have offended you all.
  3. "The weather was awesome for February so we had a powerday together. We did 78 caches on the day in 4 counties." I have seen several logs similar to this one over the years and I question how an individual could possibly find that many caches in one 24 hour period or more realistically a 12-14 hour day (and I'll bet that is stretching it)? That is over 5 and 1/2 cache finds per hour, not even taking into account breaks or eating. This doesn't appear to be urban caching where possibly one could find that many lined up in a series. Is it considered "legal" for a group to split up and all take credit for the others finds? Seems like it shouldn't be? Maybe it me, but I know there is no way I have ever been able to find near that many in a day by myself, especially over a four county area in Iowa!
  4. "Wildthings" been using it for years and just never had the imagination to update. Started out because I like the outdoors and everything about it. Most people confuse it with meaning I am a "wild" person. Sorry to have disapointed a few, back in the day when the dating sites actually could get you a date.
  5. I think I will run out to Radio Shack and see if they have anything and then maybe follow the instruction (included and on this forum) and give it another try. thanks
  6. Wish I had read this post a week ago. I bought some generic USB to Serial adapter from Tiger Direct a couple of weeks ago and tried everything I could think of to get it to recognize the GPS with no luck. I did try everything in the previous post short of the Hyper terminal thing. I just assumed the adapter was defective and sent it back. I am about ready to buy the $59.00 Garmin model, but think there must be a cheaper way. I only paid, I think, $14.00 for the first one I had. With the big cost difference is there really a difference in the quality? Does anyone have a recomendation or a brand preferance? thanks
  7. I never had the pleasure of meeting "Maggie Potts" although we exchanged a few emails and from that and finding her many caches in the area I sort of felt like I knew her. Very sorry to hear of her passing. She will be missed.
  8. Yes, I did finally find the cache! Three tries and I had to ask to owner for another hint. The coordinates I came up with were correct, but needed a little more direction than I got from the posted hints. I used Mapsource software to help me with this. Also so ideas from some of the posts. Thanks for all your help.
  9. I am pretty sure I got it figured out. Nice day for a drive so I am heading out to locate the cache. I have used Mapsource combined with Expert GPS and I think I am on to it. I will let you know.
  10. opps sorry, I did mean to give two locations. They are : N41deg 27.653 W93deg 02.087 AND N41deg 25.392 W93deg 05.282
  11. N41deg 25.392 W093deg 05.282 I realize the third point could go either northwest or southeast from this line, but I am pretty sure, by the area it is in, the likely hidding spot would be southeast. John
  12. This is how the only person to find the cache found it. It sort of makes sense to me. I didn't note the distance from point to point when I was actually at the waypoints. I am trying to figure it from my home and just go to the third point (where the cache is hidden). I may have to drive out to the locations and try this method, though. thanks
  13. I am trying to solve a geocache in which the posting makes known two co-ordinates and expects the cacher to project a third co-ordinate that forms an equal sided triangle. Is there a way to mathmatically find the exact co-ordinate? Any help? thanks, wildthing
  14. I will have to agree with boogieman, Wilcox Place cache was probably my most physically challenging cache. Little Known Covered Bridge, by Sometime is Now was a close second. One my personal favorites and I think very odd was Ancient Highway to the Middle of Nowhere Cache by Squeamish

    Iowans?

Hi. I've been (still)learning the tricks for a little over a year and a half now. Heard about this "game" from a friend in Kansas City. It has really grown in my area in the last several months! Hope for even more growth. Will have to venture out in a wider radius to feed my habit! Really a fun time and no small animals are killed in the process. LOL
  16. I think it sounds like a great idea. Humm... I am thinking of suggestions?
  17. Ya I think Geocaching is cool! More fun and challenging than hunting with a gun and there is no mess to clean up. Wildthings
