  1. Thank you for the clarification and links !
  2. So then, the correct setting for a travel bug that you own but have placed in a cache and want to keep moving (not 'collected' or kept by someone) would be 'Not Collectable'. Is that right?
  3. YAY!!!! This worked perfectly! Thank you!!!!!
  4. Thank you so much for this information! I'll give it a try.
  5. I'm running Safari 5.0.1 on a MacBook Pro OX 10.6.4 My GPS is a Delorme PN-40 I have downloaded and installed the plugin for 'send to gps' several times, but it does not work. The message in the little pop up window always tells me to download the plugin. I have re-downloaded several times. Am I missing something? I am, however able to 'send to gps' on Firefox, so that is my workaround. Would just like to know what the problem is with Safari, as that is my main browser and I'd like to use that if possible rather than having to switch over. Thanks!
  6. Thanks, I will give it some more thought. I know there was initially an issue with the new firmware upgrade not being compatible with Geocaching.com and their 'send to gps' feature. Has that been fixed now?
  7. To use Topo 9 with the PN-40, you must upgrade to FW2.8. Have you done this yet? If not and you're ignoring the prompt, you need to quit ignoring the prompt to upgrade. In reading the response that TotemLake gave above, I am assuming that the only problem is that I have not done the upgrade......?
  8. Thanks, After my last experience I am hesitant to update the firmware. This is new to me, so I'm learning as I go. Meanwhile, back to the main issue I"m having.... The PN-40 is recognized by geocache.com to download caches, and it shows up on the top bar of Topo9, but when I go to sync the maps I have downloaded, the main window that opens tells me that neither my device or the card is connected. I have checked out just about every reason I can think of for this to no avail. Is this just an upgrade issue or something else?
  9. I am also having the same problem with my new 40. I do not want to do the firmware update. I did it to the last delorme I had and it goofed it all up and I ended up sending it back for a replacement. The upgrade would not allow it to download geocaches from the site. I tried reinstalling the plugin, and everything that was recommended. I know they said there was a 'fix' for this, but I feel the firmware upgrade basically trashed the unit and I don't want to take a chance with this one. Meanwhile, the Topo North America software does not recognize my PN-40. Bummer.
  10. Hi! I'm just getting getting started so I have been checking out the forums for a few weeks. Lots of good information here!
  11. Thanks for this info, I too am interested in making a cache.
  12. I don't always find the cache but I always find something interesting.... maybe a place I have never been before, maybe I learn something about the history of the area..... Have fun with it. And as others have said, expand your search. Your coordinates may be slightly different according to the accuracy of the device you are using. Good luck from a fellow newbie.
