  1. Thats one reason I wante to list it as a DVD cache, so hopefully others will put one of theirs in, and take one thats in there. That way I wouldnt have to keep loading DVD's in there, but others can all swap theirs in and out. Free DVD rentals, take one and leave one.
  2. 9 people have read this and nobody wants to post? You guys are boring.
  3. 15 people have read this and nobody wants to post? You guys are boring.
  4. What has been your most enjoyable cache so far to date? If you can remember it, please post link to the listing. Tell us why you enjoyed it so much and how difficult was it to get there. Thanks! Scott PS: I have only gone once, but found 5 caches. I failed to post comments on them because it was my first time. I now know better.
  5. Has anyone ever tryed to do a "only" cache? I would like to take 3 of my least liked DVD's (because I don't want to loose my most liked) stick them in a cache and say "DVDs Only Please" in the posting. This way anyone that wanted to hunt it, could remember to bring a DVD or 2 or 3 to swap out in this cache. It would keep the cache interesting and would be more of an adult cache. Kids and Kids movies (not wiggles, but diney type) movies could be traded too. What do you all think about this, would you do it? I also thought about doing it with CD's. I might just use a CD as a cache filler for the ones I find. As long as they are large enough. Thanks for your input. Scott
  6. Were in the same boat. 37 = real age 26 = feel age 19 = act age LOL - however when it comes down to it, I can act my real age...if I HAVE TO. LOL. And during work I act at least 26. Scott
  7. Every post you write, I find myself liking you more. You have a great attitude about 4 X 4s. LOL ... word.
  8. That probably hurts. If you were a 23 year old female, your inbox would be filled with offers by now . Yes, I'm sure your right. However wouldn't it be nice to get an invite by a woman to go jeepin/cachin? In any case, a Jeep kicks a** - I am lookin for one to restore myself, so its nice to know others in the area that do both.
  9. What I like about a Jeep is, no doors and no top! Its like a go kart, and lots of fun. Don't get me wrong, off roading in other vehicles is fun, but I like to be one with the outdoors, vs being one with the front windsheild Oh yeah, and holding on to a roll bar, not an oh sh*t handle hehe.
  10. HOLY SSSSSSSHHHHHH******TTTTT!!!!!!! It's 2:20AM in the morning, not a light on in the house 'cept the light from the computer monitor. I'm sitting here all engrossed in Part 2 of the video there, when all of the sudden my cat jumps from the table behind me over my shoulder and lands right it front of me on my desk trying to catch some dang little flying bug that was attracted to the light from the monitor. I think I'll go change now!! that is hilarious hopefully you liked the video. I did. Its 7am...I am up earlier than my alarm to go to work and am looking through the site. I saw a post about movies and just watched part 2. Its still dark and I said to myself "this is going to make it harder to cache alone i know it" then your freak guy pops up and hisses at the camera....dude the cause my heart to skip a beat, i cant stop looking over my shoulder now! I have a story before I started caching. Wanna hear it? Heres how it goes: There is a place near me called "BeaverDam Creek Resevior" and I just moved to the dam area (not dadgum area) and wanted to find some good ways to the water. There is fast short street to the lake with parking next to a church. Farther down the road there is another road down to the water that i found via map. I drive down the main road until I find it. Drive down that road to find 1 dirty van and a gate. The road is blocked off. I get out to walk down the old, gravely, dirty, weed over grown road. Nobody is around and the van is empty. The path I walked is the old road and its about 15ft wide. After I get so far I cant see my car, I cant see anyone, and I cant see the water. I start to get weirded out but I trek on. As I walk, I see just off the edge of the old abandoned road a hole dug. Its off in the trees about another 15 feet off the path/road. The hole, 4ft wide by about 6ft tall. Only 3 feet deep, its not a clean squared off hole but its still weird. The dirt is piled up next to it. Its not fresh either. But thats enough for me to start thinking way to much. I stop, listen for anyone that might be hiking, walking, talking and hear nothing. I look farther down the road and think "should I keep going? Hmm this is kind of weird" I decide to pass, I turn around and start walking back like nothing happened. Afterall if I was being watched, I sure as hell did not want them to think I saw something. You know. Act like you dont know anything I get to the point where I can see my car and know I am almost feeling safe. I get my keys out, get my car key ready, and bolt! I run for my car, creeping myself out more...get there and the van is gone. WTF there are no other trails around there. Where did they go and come from and how did I not see them. I don't care, I took off and did not go back. I still want to go to the end of that road, but maybe I will wait and do it with a dirt bike LOL - I scared myself. Wonder what that hole was for???
  11. Uhm.... I think you have something there! I just thought there were some in off roading areas like west virginia. I would like to try it on a 4wheeler(ATV) too. That could be more fun.
  12. No, a Jeep is the only thing I off road in Thanks for the suggestion though.
  13. Have you considered adding a "sort by" function to your searches. When I search my zip code - 20147- I want to sort by most difficult terrain or by size, or distance from me. I think alot of people could really use this functionality. If you would like help doing this, let me know. If I can't I know geniuses that can help. Thank you. Scott
  14. I agree completely.... seek out some of the less accessible spots. They usually end up being the most epic and memorable. Also, when you say 'caches are for kids', I think you mean to say 'most Loot or schwag is for kids'. For me, the word 'Cache' represents the entire journey, not just the container at the end. You are right. That is what I mean, that content of the cache container. The hikes are usualy nice. I hike to get to a point that is the best part of the hike. So to get to a cache that is no no interest to me. BLAH. However, if i was to place a cache, it would have to be at an area that is every picturesk. (sp) A nice view worth staying at for 10 minutes to soak it in kinda area. Scott
  15. I am VERY interested in trying off road caching. I live in Northern Virginia and want to meet up with someone with a jeep and do it. I love trail riding (treading lightly) and caching at the same time sounds like a blast! If you want a co-pilot let me know. Im'a 37 yr old male if that helps. I don't care who I go with, male, female, young, old, purple, blue, funny, silly, please no psyco killers. LOL hmmm now I wonder if this is still a good idea!
  16. I'm not a veteran yet but I also don't take items it's more for the experience. I think because I am new, I want to SEE something cool. I can live with not taking something, but I don't see anything interesting either. I just noticed I have not documented my Goose Creek caches that I found a while back with someone. I will remember to do so next time. I know it helps others understand what kind of day it will be. If the caches are of a great view, thats all I need. I love to shoot photography so thats what I prefer, good photos. PS: www.veirs.net/photography is my site. Scott
  17. GREAT IDEA - thanks. I can make marbles, I think home made glass marbles would be perfect and cheap! My father www.veirs.com is a glass blower and we took classes together. I can use his studio to make some marbles, or worry stones and little glass widgets. There is a company we know in Staunton, VA (beautiful city by the way) that makes them and sells them for $20. They are about in between a half dollar and a quarter in size. They don't cost but a dollar to make them. How about a chunk of a very pretty blue or pink glass the size of a rock, that was sand blasted and no sharp edges. I am getting some ideas. I thought about doing a shoebox size cache (my first try) with a few DVD's I did not care for, and/OR a couple CD;s from my collection. All my music is on my hard drive now so I don't even look at my CD's now. They are in a closet. Also, a good hiking story book I have I thought about putting in. I should mark the cache as one with interests for adults, and to bring something similar for trade. Does this sound possible or am I thinking of thigns that are maybe too valuble? Input would rock, thanks! Have a super duper day. Scott Veirs Ashburn VA (20147) Garmin eTrex Legend \
  18. Great idea on giving them their own GPS. I bet they can learn alot about it that way. BTW - I am 37. Just got started. If everyone seems like adults, why are the caches kids toys?
  19. I am new to this hobby and it seems all the caches are for kids. Small trinket things. Is there a way to find some adult oriented caches? No point in going hunting for something I have no interest in. Even if its to get out and hike. I like to hike for something. To see new picture worthy views, or neat structures, or historic areas. I like to cache for something that I would be interested in swapping with. When I started I was going to do a cache with a book that I thought most hikers would have an interest in. I can see it being fun to put something out for kids, but what about the older kids? I did a search for "adult" but there was only a few, and I am not sure that was the right way to find adult oriented caches. Please help me enjoy this more than I am. Scott
