  1. Well it's been a while since I posted the original message and it looks like a lot of new groups have formed. If you are part of a Geocaching Group that is not already listed here, please post a link to your site, info about your group and/or any graphics you might have like a link button. Thanks! geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  2. Check this out! Pretty cool...this could open up some cool gaming options. http://www.howstuffworks.com/gadget-of-the-day.htm?f=1 The link is for a "Gadget of the day" so if you don't look at it today it will be something different tomorrow. They archive everything though, so if you miss it today you can dig for it tomorrow. Geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  3. ABSOLUTELY! The Georgia Geocachers Association has come up with a document to assist others in starting a similar organization and we will happily share it with anyone interested. Email me and I will reply with it as an attachment. It is a little outdated, and there is some new info to be added, so I will include some newer info in the email as well. Best of luck to you getting it going! Geo locache@geopolitan.net ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  4. I got in to Geocaching from an article in the local paper and have been HOOKED every since. My wife calls me a Geek and it's true. I don't get upset about it, I revel in it! ;-) "Now I'm a Man, Made twenty-one, You know baby, we can have a lot of fun!" ~ Bo Diddley Geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex

  6. For everyone interested in that document I mentioned above, please feel free to email me and I will reply with the document as an attachment. I forgot we haven't published our new web site yet with all the links and such. Shoot me an email, and I will respond with the goods...it's not necessarily how you HAVE to do things, but at least may give you some ideas, and I can tell you it has worked well for us so far! Thanks, Geo LoCache@geopolitan.net ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  7. Looks like you guys are coming along with your group plans. If we can be of any assistance please let us know. Having formed our group early on, we have even made a document to assist others in getting things going faster and avoiding some of the pitfalls along the way. Any info we have, is available if you want it! Good luck! Geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  8. This sounds like GeoHashing! Check out http://www.atlantahash.com/ for more info on Hashing....this sounds like the perfect mix of Geocaching, and hashing...you guys are on the right track...I will follow this thread with interest...please let us know how your drinking and caching goes! ;-) Geo
  9. Someone mentioned the Kyocera Smartphone 6035...I use that one, and while it doesn't match you criteria exactly, it ROCKS! I use it while caching and on MANY cache-adventures, I have been in need of a clue, or wanted to log a cache from the middle of the woods, and I can make calls, surf the net, log caches, post messages, WHATEVER all from one device and the memory has NEVER even come close to being low. I love it! Geo PS - I have even heard of deals lately where this $500 phone can be had for around $100 after rebates and such. ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex

Do it.------- ------When Jeremy stops evolving the web site or ceases his style of being personally involved in discussions (and the development of the web site) ...that's when I'll investigate alternative web sites or possibly having a voting body of some sort.----------- ------I'll stick with geocaching.com as long as I think it's the best thing out there.---------- RIGHT ON!! Exocet said it perfectly! I for one am tired of all the *****ing. If all of these people who dislike what's happening here, team up, or better still do their own thing, we will have TONS of great sites to choose from. Bottom line is that Geocaching.Com is the BEST geocaching site around...if it wasn't we probably wouldn't be having this discussion! When it isn't anymore, we will probably go elsewhere. Geo
  13. C'mon all you associations, societies, groups and gangs!!!!! I know you are out there! ;-) Let's hear from everyone who has formed an "official" group out there! Geo ---------------------- http://www.geopolitan.net/geotrex
  14. I guess there is not a lot of us Geocachers (myself included) who would be interested in something like this....I wonder if I would have more luck from the hashers? I RARELY ever drink myself, and certainly wouldn't combine it with caching, but I imagine there are some hashers out there who would think Geohashing was cool. I already have the domain, I would like to get some hashers interested and have them build a site and manage it. There is a "lazy" group of hashers who don't like to run...they prefer to walk (if I were a hasher that would be me)...I bet they would like it too! It's a fun idea...maybe I will get around to doing something with it one day. Geo
  15. Hello! Here in Georgia, we have formed the Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA) to give Geocachers a place to learn more about Geocaching, meet others with like interests, and to assist the Geocaching Community with getting approval from places who forbid Geocaching. We are finishing up a new version of our web site and getting ready to go live with it, but would really love to have a list of links to other groups who are doing similar work in other areas. If you have a group, and especially a group with a web site, please post it here....then each of us can use it as a link resource and help build a network of groups. Thanks! 16. People in general are a little shy about approaching me because of my size, height etc, but when they do, I love to tell them all about it, and even take them with me. Interestingly, older people are more apt to approach me than younger ones. I get more 50+ people willing to ask me a question than thirtysomethings. 19. When I signed up and was asked for a screen name, the first thing that popped in to my mind was a scene from a movie called CB4 with Chris Rock. It was sort of the rap music version of Spinal Tap. Anyhow, there is a song in the movie where Chris Rock sings "Straight outta Locash, A Crazy Mutha****** named Gusto!" That was the first thing I thought of and I thought LoCache was a funny play on it. I knew probably no one would ever get it, but it makes me laugh every time I think of it, so who cares.
