  1. In my area no...Last year my daughter gave me a PM for Christmas. I was very excited at first, just knowing that a cache shangri-la would be at my fingertips...all it actually got me was about 150 film canister P&Gs in my general caching area..
  2. my guess is that the W word by itself isn't bad....my guess is Whipped or the urban Whupped
  3. For my "milestone" 100th find, I went after the most evil hide in my immediate area. The booger took me 3 tries to find..(4 hours total)...It had been over a year since its last find, so I was very excited to log my 100th find on this evil hide. About a year later I get a notification that this one had been archived with no real explanation as to why it was archived. I made plans to do a hide in honor of one of my most memorable finds in the same general GZ as the original..As I was placing my hide I discovered the archived container was still in place..and in excellent condition...I might add that if I thought for one minute that this cache was trash I would have removed it in a second, but it is so well hidden that nobody would ever know it is there unless they are geo-cachers. So I left it in place along with my new hide son that anyone that wants to put out the effort can get 2 for the price of one...although mine is much easier to find than the original.
  4. You carry a mace?! What the ... ... oh, hang on. Got it now. Now THAT is impressive!
  5. I have mace that i carry with me in the small parks...I've had two instances where someone followed me into the woods looking to "muggle" my cache. I look out for lone guys sitting in their cars, who are backed in to their parking spaces
  6. I had a newbie cacher log one of mine 3 times and also picked up my newly released tb...Looking at their profile they had 17 finds in one week back in july 2011 and haven't logged any more finds or visited the website since then. I sent 2 e-mails with no replies. I'm afraid my tb is awol with no mileage at all. I deleted the extra loggs yesterday hoping to get some sort of reply from the cacher...I seriously doubt if I do..It does bugg me that this tb was located in a premium member cache and some one had to give them the cords for it as it is hidden well off the road on private property. I sent out e-mails to the other finders hoping if one of them gave out the cords maybe they would get in contact with their friend..no good there either...I'm still going to wait awhile before marking this tb as missing.....http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=2990193

  8. found one in a sea of kudzu that was 70ft. off posted cords.
  9. So far, we see the military (and private sector GPS users) showing concern. While I'm sure the telecom sector is concerned, last I checked the military doesn't have a horse in that race. What? What's being suggested is not that they are taking money, but that they are using their money to influence the gov'ts decisions. Yeah, it's a strawman argument meant to divert attention. But did anyone actually expect them to say "Yes of COURSE we bought your president (what parts of him were not already sold seven times over,)" twirls mustache, "And there's nothing you can do about it, because we bought the Senate and the Supreme Court too. It was 'buy 2 get 1 free'." Of course you also have to remember where Obama is coming from. He represents a party and a section of a party that has an ingrained instinct level distrust and disregard for the military, and anything else that smells of tradition, discipline, personal responsibility, and individual sacrifice. Wow. Well said. Would have been true with just about any politicians name inserted in there, but well said. As I'm reading this..Fox news is running the story about the White House pressuring gen Shelton to downplay the effects of Lightsquared on the military
  10. Nope..once is enough for me to get bored with the power trail concept pretty quick....
  11. Since I absolutely look nothing like a Muslim..I'm not too worried.
  12. I have 344 finds and have 11 favs. left. I like to give them out for a cool location or a creative hide or container. I really like the cool containers.. There are so many p&gs in film cans around that a cool container will grab one from me every time even if its a p&g.
  13. I had been caching for about 6 months before deciding to go PM..I incorrectly thought that the PM caches would be more interesting than the P&G's that dominate my area...I was disappointed just like you to discover that the vast majority of PM caches in my area are numbers runner types...oh well..At least I can do some interesting hides for the PM's to find.
  14. Sorry if this has already been covered...Is it generally acceptable to log a find on a cache you have already found if it has been moved to a new location? Say moved due to being muggled.. 200ft from original location.
  15. The worst thing you can do in a high muggle area is look over your shoulder or look around nervously...as its been stated...act as if you belong wherever you are...you will look less like a "terrorist" and blend more into the scene.
  16. As long as its not a micro stuck in a thorny bush I'm happy
  17. I have one in particular that has been taunting me for 6 months..It is in a K-mart parking lot very close to where I work. I have cleaned out nearly all the caches nearby so this is about the only one left without driving across town during lunch. High muggle activity and some nasty thorny leaves prevents me from searching for more than a few minutes. Almost all the found it logs read the same..."found quickly..nice p&g." I guess when I finally do find it my log will read "found quickly today" and it will be true....ha!
  18. I see all kinds of rants against LPC's...while I'm not in love with them, I don't hate them in that to me they aren't too annoying. When I get a notification of a new hide and it looks like it might be a juniper hide, I don't even consider going after them unless they are so close by that it doesn't seem like a total waste of time to check it out. I know that all caches have their place, I just can't see what moves someone to stick a micro bison in a thorny bush. Different strokes for different folks...I guess?
  19. In at least one part of Wisconsin, people play a game where they race to see who is the first to post a "Write Note" on a new cache. Not first to find, not first to log online, but first to say "hey, I got the new cache alert." Sometimes, there are a handful of follow-ups discussing who others though would post it first. A friend of mine there and his (now ex-) girlfriend find this pointless and annoying, so when she had her first cache published, she deleted the "FTP" (first to post) log. The poster then got upset by this, posted it again, she deleted again and then the poster emailed her to express his dissatisfaction, saying that what he's doing is not against the rules, it's harmless and a "common" part of the game "everywhere". Some people Just Don't Get It. I find the "First to Post" craze more than a little odd...
  20. I have found that if I have no activity on the site for 15- 20 minutes my computer logs me off the site although you can still view the map. The cache icons aren't in the correct position until I log back on.
  21. As long as you don't place a micro in a thorny bush ...I will HUNT!
  22. I feel your pain.. Before I became a premium member...of course when looking at google maps..pm caches didn't show up. I found a terrific spot for a cache..never dreaming there was a premium cache within 20 ft of my placement..I had made several trips to my dream site setting up my hide only to have it denied by a 35mm film canister at the base of a street sign...in standing water...wet log and all...Still makes me sick to think about it...
  23. No, they won't be the end. There is a movement among many geocachers to deliberately place larger caches to stop micros from becoming a virus. When you place an ammo can you block any and all micros from being placed within a 528 foot radius. Even placing a small will accomplish this task. Some people talk of the days when there were fewer caches. They talk of less saturation and so forth. Mcros are great if you want to go back to the former days of limited saturation. Just block all the micros and all of a sudden the grid clears up. It's like Clearasil for the acne of the geocaching playfield.
