  1. I know you are fairly new. Are you aware that you can use the maps to look where all the caches are in your area? When you go to the page that lists the caches at the upper right there is Map this location link. Once you access the map you can make it bigger or smaller and move it around to see where all the caches are in your area and surrounding areas. If you know of certain trails, walking paths etc you can look in those areas for caches. Hope this helps. I know that Look at the maps might not help if you don't know how to access the maps.
  2. Both GSAK and My Geocaching Profile have stats. There are other places too but those are the 2 that I have used at times.
  3. I would go get it if it was mine. In fact I have done just that. I don't see anything wrong with it. Does it have any tag on it that says where oit wants to go? Would be a good idea if it did so people will know when they pick it up what the goal is. Good luck with your traveler.
  4. I have used my Garmin Nuvi. I think it is a 1350 model. I load the PQ through GSAK and then to the Nuvi. Have to make a few changes to get it to put the names on that Nuvi. I have to play around with it each time I do it as I don't do it that often. My handheld gps has routing feature on it and I use that more often.
  5. Premium caches are no different. Some premium members just choose to mark them for premium members only. Sometimes its to cut down on the activity in a specific area. I don't know all the reasons people mark them that way. But the caches themselves are just like any other cache you will find.
  6. Oh my gosh Larry you saved me again. LOL Got this computer idiot through another problem. LOL Figured out what you were talking about finally and got the problem fixed. Appreciate the help once again. Thanks so much
  7. Try this: If the Tools menu isn't displayed at the top of the Internet Explorer window, press the Alt key to see the menus. In the Tools menu, select Compatibility View Settings. It's about halfway down the list, at least on my copy of the program. Remove geocaching.com from the list of "Websites you've added to Compatibility View" if it's in the list, and uncheck the box for Display all websites in Compatibility View if it's checked. Hope this helps! --Larry Larry to the rescue again. LOL Well I have a little circle top right that says tools. Print zoon file etc. Internet Options About Internet Explorer etc but nothing about compatability hmmmm
  8. I have looked and looked under tools and cannot find compatability etc. Would someone explain in "my Language" meaning elementary computer talk as to what to do? LOL Sure would appreciate it.
  9. Type in on the front page your town and state. When the list comes up go to the top of that list on the right side and click Map this location. then you can see where they all are. Run your mouse over the caches and it will give you the names of them. Most of the time if you click on them a box will pop up that you can click on the name of the cache and it will bring up the cache page. Sometimes this doesn't work but most of the time it does. Or you can run your mouse over the cache and left click and it will bring up that box. Best way I know how to explain it.
  10. Well what do you know. I ran another PQ and it worked perfectly except for that Preview problem. I downloaded from the PQ page just like I did all the rest and it worked fine. Hmmmmmm must have been dust balls in my computer? Mysterious for sure. I did go back and download one of the others from the email first. Maybe that triggered something. Who knows but just glad it is working now. thanks for all the help you tried to give me. If this ever happens again I will download it from the email and maybe that will fix it again. Who knows. Thanks again
  11. I download it from the PQ page. Then I call up GSAK. I go to the File Folder Icon top left of GSAK. That opens my downloaded files. then I click on the file I want. At this point it usually shows a zippered file folders. However these that I am having trouble with look like a piece of blank paper with one corner folded down. LOL Best way I can describe things. I ran a pocket query using a GC code for the center of my search with a 2 mile radius and it worked fine. but if I try to do a along a route query is when I have the problem.
  12. I ran a PQ using the GC code and a 2 mile radius and it ran just fine and loaded to GSAK fine. I then ran a Along a Route PQ and am having the same problem. I don't know enough computer talk to explain exactly what I mean I guess. But I know I can't load the file I am getting doing the Along a Route PQ to GSAK. I am having to load everything one at a time. Frustrating. Something has definitely changed and I don't know how to explain it well enough I guess. I will have to wait until I get home and have another geocacher check it out for me I guess before I can get it worked out I guess.
  13. Guess it helps when someone explains it in computer language. so can someone tell me how to upload a pq in gsak using this type of file? I am traveleing and having to upload caches one at a time is a real pain,
  14. The PQ's used to show up in my downloads as a zippered file. Now they show up as a blank piece of pape when I do to the download file. I just don't understand what is happening here. I have ran lots of pq's and never had a problem until now.
  15. This file does not pss XML validation and will be idnored. c\users\Penny\1\106374 1.1.2 not well formed. Error 3 How did you put that file into GSAK? I guess I can work it that way maybe. The way I have been doing it is gone I guess.
  16. I just tried it again and still getting the same message. Don't know what has changed but something has.
  17. It used to be after submitting you could click on preview caches and the list of caches would show up, Yes I can get the list of caches if I copy and past this link into the browner. I used to download and then go to GSAK and click on downloads and load that file. When I try to do it the same way it will not download. I do not know how to do it this new way I guess. I used to just clock on the file in the downloads and it would load to GSAK Now what do I have to do?
  18. I just tried to run a couple of PQ's. Instead of the Preview Search I get this: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=9860deff-cca9-4dac-8bd5-0e14359091de I can copy and paste it in the brower and get to the pages of caches. But when I actually run the PQ and download it I cannot load it into GSAK. What's the problem here? I ran PQ's a couple of days ago and they were fine. Any suggestions? I just renewed my membership a few days ago. I thought that might be the problem so I logged out and logged back in but made no difference. I am running IE 9. I have never had this problem and have ran dozens of PQ's. I shut down computer and restarted but that didn't help either. I have tried it several times. I also resubmitted a PQ that I had previously run and submitted it and it did the same thing. I am frustrated, Leaving in a few hours on a caching trip and had to load caches one at a time. Grrrr
  19. Ran 1000 no restrictions except for enabled. Can rerun with restrictions if needed. What kind you want?
  20. Hope this helps 2001 None 2002 None 2003 GCC4E8 2004 GCHPA7 GCHPKR 2006 GCTFHV GCW8ZH GCWQGY GC1031X GCZTCJ GCZMP8 GCZQ26
  21. If you have the coin in your inventory then all you have to do is either edit your log where you logged the find for the cache where the coin was and let the coin "visit" the cache, or just write a note to that cache page and say something like "to correct mileage of geocoin". If the coin is not listed to the cache where you picked it up there is an option to grab from somewhere else or if is shows in the possession of someone you can grab it from that person. Then once it is in you inventory you can drop it off in another cache when you log the find on that cache. Before you submit your log at the bottom of the page the coin should be listed and there is a drop down menu that allows you to drop, visit or no action for that coin. Even tho you deleted your log for the drop the coin will be listed to the cache where you dropped it. You can make a note to the trackable page also for the owner, with the cache code where you picked it up and they can make the corrections if they so desire. Hope this helps.
  22. Try entering like this N39 47.439 W105 29.047 I am assuming you mean you placed a new cache? If not where are you entering the coords?
  23. I think a short blurb is fine. I always sign my logs with TFTC SL after I write something about the experience or why I was in the area etc etc. I was referring to the logs that consist of only TFTC or SL or blank or TY etc etc.
