  1. Unconscionable?? You're kidding, right? Rape and murder is unconscionable. "Painting" an X on a rock in state or national forest is only at the dumb level. What if the X was chalk or some other "natural" substance? Would you still feel that the rock got its feelings hurt? Only at the dumb level? It is this type of "who cares?" attitude that contributes to the banning of geocaching in managed lands. It only takes one "screw up" or perceived screw-up to ruin geocaching for others. How would you like it, if some careless cacher pissed off land managers in parks where you hide your caches, and you were forced to remove and archive all of your caches? Yep, only at the dumb level. Get your priorities in check, and then go relax. Where were you for every other thread that someone says something about sockpuppet accounts, or posts "I smell a sock?" What, I don't contribute anything to past threads I think are lame and that somehow discredits my statement that your questioning a possible sock account? I sure am glad we have that ridiculous statement on the permanent record. Thanks.

  3. The looking doesn't bother me. It was your lame post about being sock puppet that crossed the line. Sounds like a case for Captain Clorox..........sadly there are many sock puppets - it is a legit question. It is not relevant to the OP's question, regardless of it being sock or not.

  6. This idea would only work if geocaching.com accepted money from the Federal stimulus and bailout and bankrupty plan.
  7. Anyone knows a place that sells naked virgins? I don't know, your local red light district?
  8. That's one more month it'd take King Boreas to get to 2000 hides.
  9. Wow... sbell111 says people love micros, it must be so! That's like saying "I know that people love sardines because they have said so." Looking at the discussions that take place here, it seems to me a lot more people come in here starting threads about how micros are bad than "I love micro" threads. That's because it's easier to b*tch than it is to do something about the problem. You see that in every day life.
  10. I do it for the smiley and the adventure. Hide whatever cache tickles your fancy. Just put some thought into it.
  11. I started seeking FTFs just to spite the local legends. Ends up I turned into one of them. But I don't go too crazy.. if it isn't 8 miles or less I have no shot and don't even try. If it does fit that criteria, then a FTF is worth everything.. cold dinners, lost relationships, speeding tickets, you name it.
  12. Have no desire to have first-to-find honors at all. If I happen to get to the cache and sign the log first - couldn't care one way or the other. Its not what I do the hobby for. Cachers that don't have a lot of FTF's always say that..
  13. What's equally annoying is when cachers "change" their DNFs to Found It rather creating a new Found It log. I HATE that. But not enough to dwell on it..
  14. I don't care who cheats or how often. As long as the FTF isn't cheated and the cheats aren't stored publicly. In other words, cheat covertly all you want. Case close.
  15. Very nice adaptation. I keep three of these tools in the cache-mobile. Problem is, I always forget them in the cache-mobile.
  16. How about just a good, heavy duty, screw driver. You should keep one in the caching bag. Also makes for a good self defense weapon for grizzly bears.
  17. I find myself agreeing with the Clanster. It might be wise to lighten up. For the largest network of puzzle hints and cheats already exists today. It's called the P-a-F network. And it's alive and well. And it won't go away. You have to accept it or leave caching altogether. The sooner you accept it the better of you'll be. Although having said all that, I'd hate for there to be an "official" cheat repository. That's just wrong. But it certainly isn't something to lose sleep over.
  18. As long as it takes for the goals at hand. If I am just out casually caching, I won't leave until I find it or I'll make multiple trips until I do (obsessed). If I am on a planned cache run or have a specific goal to accomplish, I use a strict 5 minute or 10 minute rule.
  19. I would only delete a log if it contained spoilers or was offensive or cacher didn't sign the actual written log. Anything else stands no matter how much it annoys me. And I do NOT audit my caches to look for actual sigs. There's a CO in northern MN that is addicted to deleting logs unless it is perfectly worded and showers (unwarranted) compliments on the cache or CO. I won't even find his caches for I might have a moment of weakness and go maggot on the guy (ok, j/k). In the case mentioned by OP, I think that both the CO and OP were both childish. For the OP, if you want to be the self prescribed cache cops, go for it. Just be sure to use uncommon sense and be a little more discreet and less condescending. As for the CO, stop being such an over-sensitive baby. I just wish everyone would grow up. Everyone has this idea that they have the RIGHT to not be annoyed or inconvenienced or offended. And in the process they end up acting the same against their fellow mankind.
  20. Hijacked on post #3 by the Clan Riffster.
  21. Funniest sign, although I forgot to take a picture of it, was while driving into Bricelyn, MN last weekend. This is a nearly dead farming town in extreme southern Minnesota, population of less than 400. Attached to the bottom of the green sign, Bricelyn, population such and such, was another sign that said, Bricelyn, next 5 exits. You have to understand, Iowa is about 5 miles away and it is so flat and full of nothingness that you can probably see Iowa on a clear day from that vantage point. So thanks to whoever put up that sign to let me know that I had better be paying attention if I wanted to pull into this rinky dink town. Also funny are the Bigfoot Crossing signs that were located around Colorado Springs when I was there last 15 years ago.
  22. We won't point out the grammatical mistakes in your post, OK? This is great stuff. More fodder for my forum study that I happen to be conducting for a class.
  23. EMP shielding is expensive & consumes more resources. I'd wager most if not all of the stuff in your house & car is not shielded for practicality, economic & packaging reasons. That was a joke. I see I used the wrong icon to qualify my quip.
  24. The whole magnet erasing memory thing has always been overblown. Can magnets damage the structural array of memory devices? Yes, but in only extreme conditions (speaking generally here now). I can't tell you how many times in the old days I've tried to erase floppy disks and hard drives with magnets only to find that they still contain my data in perfectly good shape. I would guess that if a rare earth magnet won't erase a good old fashioned floppy disk then they certainly would have trouble with a solid state memory. Besides, hasn't the government mandate about EMP protection been put into place on all of our electronic gadgets??
