  1. I agree with you, but so many businesses these days that operate retail via telephone and/or mail/internet seem to "roll in some extra income" into the shipping and handling costs. Oh well. This place is still cutting us a heck of a deal, so I can't complain.
  2. I sincerely apologize for not posting the pictures.. It just slipped my mind. Thanks for the comments about my baby. She's improved 110% now. Here's the nickels in larger size, and then again in smaller size to give you an idea of what we are looking at (not to scale obviously, just an idea of size): FRONT BACK
  3. Ok, I certainly didn't expect these to be this cheap.. At a minimum order of 2000 (I can order more if demand is higher), each trackable wooden nickel will cost roughly $ 0.31 a piece! It would be a tad cheaper, but shipping these isn't as cheap as it apparently used to be. If more than 2000 nickels are demanded, the price per nickel from the manufacturer drops slightly. I will begin accepting orders immediately at $ .31 (that's 31 cents) a peice for each trackable wooden nickel. Once I've received enough orders to meet the 2000, I will begin collecting the payments from each person neccesary to process the order for the company making these. To place a preliminary order, please complete the "form" below and email or fax it to me. If neccesary, I will take orders via mail. PM me for an address if that's the case for you: NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT PLACE A PRELIMINARY ORDER UNLESS YOU SERIOUSLY INTEND TO FOLLOW-THROUGH WITH A PURCHASE. Doing so makes it difficult for everyone else in the long run. Last Name: First Name: Shipping Address: Contact Ph # (optional): Contact Email: # of Nickels I'd Like ($.31 cents each): Email or Fax this completed form to: markrmccoy@gmail.com with the phrase "Wooden Nickel Order" in the subject line, or fax it to me at 206-350-6279.
  4. Folks, I sincerely apologize for my lack of follow-through with the order of the California Trackable Wooden Nickels. My newborn baby became extremely ill and was int eh hospital for over a month. Needless to say, the nickels took a backseat. I will be contacting the nickel company today for exact pricing, and I'll post back here once I figure out how much each nickel is going to cost. (Trust me, they'll be dirt cheap).
  5. Im not so sure that'd fly.. It'd be like a drug dealer telling the police that he's just peddling chicklets.
  6. Steve, I like that design for the wooden nickel. How about the back? We'd need a small space for the laser-etched numbering on the wood. These nickels will be more of an "affordable" option to those who can't afford a bunch of the metallic coins. The metallics will be nice of course, much nicer in fact, but at $5 a coin, I'll probably only grab 3. With the the trackable wooden nickels, I could afford 20 or more. This'll be a big order, as I imagine these will move quickly.
  7. I posted a pretty detailed setup of my PDA caching equipment (using bluetooth) here: www.gc4dummies.blogspot.com I was asking the same questions about 2 months ago, and I'm really satisfied with the configuration I developed from about 2 weeks of hard research.
  8. I wish, but I think the folks who originally put this addition to the site here have neglected to check it often (if at all).
  9. Yes, we'll be using your site to track the coins for sure. Maybe I should order more than 1000! Depends on how many pre-orders I get either here or via email.
  10. I think it's pretty safe to say that this thread is being ignored by the powers at be.
  11. Alright folks, it looks like I'll be placing the order for California geo-wooden nickels (trackable) soon, and I'd like to get an idea of who exactly is interested in these. They'll most likely be less than a doller apeice (probably half that, but it's too early to say exactly). Go ahead and post away.
  12. Geocaching.com Pocket Queries. $3 a month membership to get access.
  13. Dillon, you and I should probably hook up so we can coordinate regarding the wooden and metal orders. Do you have any instant messengers?
  14. I was going to until the wife decided to go out and stick me with the baby.
  15. I agree. just a quick note, these suggestions are fantastic but we'll have to make some exceptions if we want to get this coin before winter. When Dillon re-posts his latest design of the coin, we can see if it'll work out. Trust me, it'll look 100 times better ont he coin than anything you'll see here--it's just the nature of these coins.
  16. That's exactly what I ended up doing. Thanks fellas!
  17. That's pretty cool. I download data from NGS and convert it to a GPX file, which I then convert to a Mapopolis file so I can see each waypoint on my moving map as I drive. Very useful.
  18. Today I spotted and photographed a benchmark in Los Angeles on the Pierce College Campus by the ID of AJ1873. I'm fairly new to benchmark hunting, and I havn't run into the problem of not being able to locate a find on gs.com after downloading the waypoints from NGS. Did I do something wrong? What would you do in a situation like this?
  19. I have so many of these old Mexican Peso coins, and they total a value of about maybe $ .04 in American Dollars now, so they are practically worthless monetarily. However, they are becoming rare and I was hoping to use these coins as a <special> signature item. I think those protective cases are neat, and I might try it. But before I do, I'd wonder if any of you have ever stamped a coin with a message or username possibly? If so, how'd you do it and what toos did you use?
  20. Expecially if you keep posting to them Point taken.
  21. i am putting the finishing touches on this desgin. i have an artist type person line drawing the golden gate bridge and the joshua tree. the miner i am working on how to emboss it (3D) so that it looks great. i.e. the pan sunken lower than the miner, his shoulder higher than the head (maybe) as for tracking, how bout something like for the wooden coin use a 5 digit number with the first number the same. i.e. 50001, 50026 ( i picked the 5 cause its a nickel ) No problemo.
  22. That's an interesting idea as well. I'll think about that. Has anyone stamped a coin before? If so, how'd you do it and what tools did you use?
