  1. Nice to look at the Google map now & see a run of caches all the way around. This morning was exciting with all the "published" listings coming through - THANKS REVIEWERS!!! Just had to put in a shameless plug for my bookmark list: Mountain Loop Highway If any more get published today, I'll have to add to it tomorrow. Out the door for some island caching (and wishing I had made different plans to do the loop again today).
  2. I couldn't help myself! The excitement was too much, so I talked my husband into it & all 3 of us headed out to do the loop late this afternoon. There's quite a few pot holes just past Barlowe point, and some of the repaired sections are little more than one lane, but it was all good! The repaired areas made for some interesting driving - not much above the river - My thoughts are these won't last through even minor flood events. Fall colors were awesome. I spoke with one of the road grader crews while we were stopped at White Chuck. Originally they weren't going to open the highway until the 30th, but TPTB opened it early. They are still in process of grading the road, so watch out - kinda hard to pass a grader with a 12 foot blade on some of those skinny sections. He said he counted over 300 cars come through today. I think tomorrow will be a busy one. Oh, and we came home 1 ammo can lighter
  3. The part I have been on is asphalt. I've driven the loop a couple of times, but it's been at least 5-6 years ago. If it's like it used to be, it's paved except for 14 miles of gravel between Barlowe Pass & about 7 miles south of Darrington. Here's a link to today's Herald article: http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20071026/...058/-1/rssmsnbc
  4. I was reading Weightman's post on the HOTM thread for yesterday. I'm putting the link here in case anyone's interested Forest Service Announcement. New virgin territory for caches again - or -some that were archived on the closed part can be re-enabled. And I have a ton of ammo cans to hide...yay!
  5. In Everett, take Highway 2 East to Highway 204, take that to Highway 9, turn north on Highway 9 to Highway 92. If anyone is not familiar with the area, they wouldn't know that Highway 92 does not directly connect to I-5.

    Franklin WA?

I'll have to dig them out, but they would not be specifically of Franklin. Mostly they show entire counties & the rail lines/old highways or they show rail lines/rail stations for the entire state. I was collecting them when we were making trips to Ghost Towns & abandoned Rail stations (before geocaching). I haven't looked at them in a long time.

    Franklin WA?

The townsite is what interested me most, that & the cemetery and any station remains. I have a half dozen really old RR maps & maps from the early part of the century that I've noted areas I wanted to explore. I hope the caches made it through the tree cutting, but after reading the notes on Prying Pandora's cache pages, those might be lost.

    Franklin WA?

So many places on my to-do list over the years have been destroyed/vandalized/burned/bulldozed, etc. - makes me sick... Looks like I've put major trips on hold long enough - time to get out & see them before they're gone

    Franklin WA?

Here's a link to a post by someone who was at one time interested in doing some photography there. You may be able to contact them & find out some information. Ghost towns....high on my list of interests! http://forums.ghosttowns.com/showthread.php?t=13885 (edit- forgot to add the link)
  10. Thought I'd try this today, also getting an error message similar to what's mentioned above, i.e., "Fetch of link....failed....parse error at line 3" etc., etc. Is this happening to everyone or is there a fix?
  11. Yep, posted a "will attend" for an event in Skagit Co. coming up this Saturday - I posted my intent on September 11 - and sure enough, it dropped off the top of my list on my account page today (30 days to the day I posted it). Good thing I didn't forget that I had planned on going... Thanks for letting us know ya'll are working on it. Looking forward to the fix.
  12. Please, oh please....GC# 1st, Cache name 2nd
  13. WooHoo! Congrats Sassy & Gordy on 2000, and a belated congrats to Fluteface on her 2000 (was there, but neglected to post here), and to Lajoie5 for 2500!
  14. I like the speedier loading, but as stated above - I don't enjoy having to "re-check" off the "hide" feature each time I pan or zoom on the map. I miss the numbered cross reference too.
  15. I've got a public bookmark list of all the challenge caches in WA and I do my best to keep it current. It's in the NW bookmarks pinned at the top of the NW forum. On the side....I've only got one in pre-K & can't imagine how I'd have kept it together if we'd had her when Brad was in the Navy - wow! Good luck to ya!
  16. Looks like bettsbugs has decided to maintain a bookmark list for Washington Earthcaches, so I will go ahead & archive mine - less for me to track
  17. Wow! Larger than normal backlog. How Exciting!! Means lots of new caches to peruse soon... We love our reviewers up here - I don't think you have to be too worried about not getting them out fast enough. Ya'll are super quick as it is!
  18. OH GOLLY!! This would've been a HUGE issue for me, but it seemed to be o.k. and still accepting new bookmarks when I added one to a large list I have.
  19. Looks like the notifications are down again. Looking up new caches in my state & noticed a few within 20 miles and I haven't received any emails. Maybe I'll have an edge over the rest of the FTF hounds if I'm the only one that has noticed this
  20. Wow. My text size on the cache page is actually smaller - which I like! (running on Firefox) Same smaller text on my state lookup page too. I like the "log visit" link on the map page (didn't notice if it was there before). I miss the 'caches on selected bookmark list' feature - I used that a lot, although it didn't always update when new ones were added to a list. It would be nice to see the 'cache type legend moved to the bottom of the page & the cache list added back to the right side with the bookmark option thingy. I really like the new hover feature & the 'hide my finds' feature. When I scrolled the map over, I got this message: EO. Web Controls Client Side Debug Message: The callback on 'cbAjax' has failed due to a server side exception. Please check the server side code. You can turn off this message by setting EO.Web.Runtime.DebugLevel to 0 (Not recommended for debug build). Sorta computer illiterate, so I don't have a clue what that was all about. Clicked OK & now I get an endless 'requesting geocaches'... Windows XP, Firefox 2.0.0.6
  21. Went up today to Huckleberry Patch Geocache and had a great time!! Now I know what I've been missing. It was amazing to look out over acres & acres of huckleberry bushes. I've got my batch in the freezer to save for just the right recipe & I hope to get back out that way before the season ends. There were lots ripe & lot of green ones, so I imagine this is prime time for picking & will be for a while. Thanks for this - one more fun experience this summer!! And the company was great too !!

    GSAK

I can't remember the link, but one of the Florida Geocaching Clubs have a website with excellent information on paperless caching.
  23. Are you thinking of setting one up or are you just wanting to contact someone who has?
  24. It appears that you have left off Washington History Challenge. Thanks, WM, I was about to mention the same thing... Ooops!! That error has been rectified. I don't know how I missed that one, it's a great challenge! Juggling too much at once I guess.
