  1. Wide mouth Gatorade containers also work well. I wrap mine in duct tape, Sharpie BIOHAZARD all over it, use rubber gloves or some other sort of barrier to pick up the needles and drop them in the container. When the container is full I drop it at the local hospital, needle exchange, ambulance station, or fire house. Never had a problem with someone taking the needles off my hands.
  2. I would love at least 1 or 2 of the Rainbow coins. I would prefer a reservation system though if possible.
  3. If there were a race involved, I'd likely come on board. I'd not ever buy more than a few but if it was about $5 I'd buy 5 or so. Fewer as price goes up.
  4. Much Thanks to Penny and Kona for my newly adopted coin. Here's hoping to it getting to me quickly. We've had to push back our A Cool Cache visit for another week or so. My partner's truck literally exploded. So, it will be a little bit longer before we can offer one to pay it forward as well.
  5. Hey all, well it wasn't my physical mailbox but it was my email box. I've been chosen to adopt a geocoin from Penny and Kona. I'm pretty stoked. Hoping that eventually it makes it's way to me.
  6. My parents and the rest of my family have decided that I'm a lunatic for getting into geocoins and geocaching as a whole. I'd love to have proof of such arrive in my mailbox. Anyone need an address?
  7. How do I sign up to play this game? It looks like a ton of fun.
  8. Joined Rick's League. I just might join another league in the next few days. I'm not sure I can maintain two teams but it might be possible.
  9. No worries, I clean out all the pill bottles first with a baby bottle brush then let them sit to air dry. Cover them with duct tape in all kinds of colors and write message in a bottle on one side, signature item, open me on the other. Inside is a small piece of paper with instructions to e-mail me through gc.com I can't prevent losers from lying but if they are caught they and those who also cheated will be removed from any future coin raffle. Are there any other things, I should keep in mind? We are putting geocoins and TB's out into the caches around us but we want to help encourage other caches to get into releasing trackables as it's what we love most about caching. I can't fathom all those coins sitting in books in closets or drawers. I want to see them tour the world.
  10. My partner boyanchor and I would love to adopt a GC if anyone has some out there for adoption. As soon as we get back up to the geocaching store we'll offer up a coin or two as well. That will probably be sometime in the next 2 weeks.
  11. See and as it seems that we're quite saturated with micros in South Florida, I was kinda hoping they wouldn't get used for a cache container. Any hints or help there? And in terms of how often should we do a drawing, do you think 1x/month is enough?
  12. My partner and I have recently started caching and we've gotten pretty gung-ho about trackables. We're pretty bummed when in our closest 200 caches less than 10 MAY have a trackable in them. We'd already started planning personal pathtags or geocoins but we likely won't be able to afford those for a little while. We were somewhat inspired by a recent thread on personal signature items including many homemade ones. We've come up with an idea we'd like to run past you all. We want to recycle empty pill bottles by covering them with duct tape and using them as a "message in a bottle" and putting messages inside asking people to contact us through gc.com to be entered in a weekly/monthly/every x # of people cointest. 1. Is there anything that prohibits us from doing that? 2. Would you be interested in one if you found it in a cache? 3. Any tips you'd be willing to share with us? 4. Any specific way we should label it? 5. Specific coins to use? - Our location specific? Space Coast Shuttle? Coin designs we like? Choice of coin under X $? 6. Anything else I didn't ask? I'm just trying to find something we could leave that would be a personal sig item that someone else would find value in while also helping to increase the # of trackables in caches. Also, would using pill bottles that are essentially pre-camoed be significantly counter-productive as they could be placed as micros that aren't big enough to hold said coins?
  13. Best piece of Dad gear I've ever seen that would adapt spectacularly for caching is the Diaper Bag Vest. http://www.dadgear.com/gear_detail.cfm?itemID=14# It's a light fleece vest with pockets for a changing pad and 2-3 diapers in the small of the back, binkie pockets, bottle pockets, wipes pockets, keys/phone/gps pocket. It's downright awesome for any Dad on the go with a baby but even moreso for we cachers.
  14. I wish I had seen these earlier. I probably would have ordered a few simply because they are so darn pretty. I likely would have even sent a few out as trackables.
  15. I'd like to get in on a cointest FF team. Sounds like fun. Any leagues still open?
  16. See and I asked in another thread what folks would like to see in caches as well and surprisingly I got no, 0, zilch, zap, nada, in terms of responses. So please tell me what specifically do you both as adults and for children do you like to see in caches. I don't have a ton of $$$ but I do have some cool DIY things planned. So far I have small versions of first aid kits, fishing kits, cache maintenance kits, some crafty earrings, and a few other things.
  17. Being new to caching maybe I'm just lucky but I've found some great restaurant coupons for free items, keychains, cigarettes, silly bands for kids, McToys, play-doh, a slinky, costume jewelery, crayons, and some other cool toys. I've let small Lego sets, matchbox cars, silly bands, odd coins/bills, and other toys I pick up at swap meets and yard sales. I'd like to know what adults like to find. I do always try to leave something even if I took nothing. Ideally, I'd love to just drop trackables everywhere but I'd love to know what others seek.
  18. Just put together my first geobag this weekend. Will post a pic of it as soon as I grab it from the car and I figure out how to link pics here tomorrow.
  19. Even cooler would be to make that function available now utilizing the barcode scanner on our smartphones. Being able to discover, retrieve, and drop off TB's and geocoins. It would be pretty awesome. Smartphones are changing the way people geocache and they are bringing more and more newbs into the fold. I am one of those folks. Without my new Smartphone, I never would have started geocaching. I am still a noob but I think I'm around to stay for a little while.
