Each time you upload a new set of map areas to the 60 from Mapsource the old mapset in your GPS is erased and replaced by the new set. Once the map information is in your GPS you cannot selectively remove parts of that set. That is not a problem though since the new information you are loading is what you want to have available for getting around and, with USB, the transfer time is very quick.

Good question and the answer is the City Select map sets have all the auto routing information that the 60 uses to determine how to get you from your CURRENT location to the place or waypoint you want to get to. What you will find is that on a route that you know and use all the time the 60 will not necessarily take you the way you would choose to go. On the other hand if you are in an area that you know nothing about, the 60 autorouting is just fine... it will always get you there.

Use the address lookup function on the 60C(s) and after you have found it choose the GOTO option. The address is the END waypoint the 60 autorouting will take you to.

I beleive he said the water should be about knee deep in places. It all depends on how lucky we are at choosing a route. If I recall, the water is the same temp winter/spring/summer, it doesn't matter. To bad he didn't wait until next month, as there will be a -1.6' tide instead of this months -0.6'. Every little bit helps We would sure like to go just to be in the company of other cachers and of course, enjoy another EraSeek cache. But I just don't have the boots for that kind of water right now. We definitely will want to go sometime. Maybe when the tide is lower. I'm a freeze baby anyway. I'm just now getting out caching after the winter Have a good time and be sure and post some pictures! Donna

very funny, TL :-) Seriously though...interesting stuff you linked. Cool! Funny! I know what you mean! This might work for you guys too. I already told EGH if we go hiking next summer he has two choices: 1. I get to be the one in front. OR 2. I am going to find the heaviest fishing line available and attach a reel on my belt. When he gets to far ahead I'll just reel him back in! He loves fishing you know! He's just never been on the other end of the line. Mrs. Wienerdog

Can The 60cs Use More Than One Map?
Wienerdog replied to Pat_in_Utah's topic in GPS technology and devices
Yes, you can switch between map sets. From the Map Page on the GPS press Menu and select Setup Map > Enter and then >Menu. That last page allows you to select or deselect entire map groups. Key sequence -
Not to worry. I noticed that with V3.0. Random instructions as the CPU looses it's mind I should think. HAL had the same thing happen when Dave pulled the plug.

New Garmin Color Gps Units-memory Hog?
Wienerdog replied to dzdiver's topic in GPS technology and devices
To load all of CA using CitySelect requires approx 100 MB. The 76c / 76cs have 115 MB available so you would have room to spare. -
Ok ok ok to know me is to luv me. I can't spell cause I just fell off that there turnup truck, and I anit bothered by the ribben either. Pepper Guess what Pepper? EraSeek has been torturing me with the spelling of W-I-E-N-E-R-D-O-G since before I met him. Haven't you Mr. E? Actually it's all been in fun. I think I just about have him trained now. He is starting to correct other people! There are two ways to spell it. MR and I debated on the spelling in the beginning. It shows up both ways in certain dictionaries. I just tell people that it is the correct way to spell it if you are German (which I am). That is if you are referring to Dachshunds! Now does everyone know how to spell Dachshund? Donna Whoops! I had to edit this because I spelled TORTURING wrong!

Wow, looks like a lot of century marks this weekend including Bull Moose at No 200. Hey… maybe I could quit my day job and run the Lena as a cruise raft out to Ballinger Island and call it Century Tours or something like that. Ha… in our dreams! Thanks all and congrats all.
-
WOW JON! You are amazing. 1800? Oh my!

All I can say is "Thanks to Pepper"...... "Thanks to Pepper". She knows why! Plus... what did you do to me today? Give me shot of Geocaching Juice? I found two more after we parted. AND in the dark too! Whats happening to me?

When you say 'this firmware' do you mean the MAP60C 3.0 update or the Mapsource USTideSoftware.EXE file? Also, check the version of Mapsource you are using. The current level is 5.4

The 60C automatically switches to “night” mode at the predicted sunset time and back to “day” mode at sunrise. You can toggle this feature off in the setup page. The 60C is one beautiful rig!

Those are some great looking coins Pepper! So ahh…which cache in the Shoreline area near Richmond Beach somewhere around St Lukes are you going to place one of them? Mr Wienerdog

Thanks all. The birthday is the easy part… all a person has to do is just wait a year or so and it just happens. Right now the hard part is fussing over every little speck of dust or fingerprint that shows up on the new toy. A good splat in the mud will probably fix that problem. See you out on the trail soon I hope! MR

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR WIENERDOG ON MARCH 5TH! Why am I posting this early? Because we had to go caching this weekend to try out his new BD present...... a new Garmin Map 60c ! Have a great time with it sweetie! Love, Mrs. WD (aka Donna)

The file I downloaded shows up as GPS 162 / 168 Tide information in Mapsource. The West mapset has tide stations along the entire west coast up through Alaska.
-
Tide stations for Canada are also included.

Hey… the number ONE reason the WSGA was started was to try to promote a good image of Geocaching to the State Park System and by trickle down, County and local parks as well. We have done a couple of night caches in the past and one of the thoughts that went through my mind was what do we say if someone reports suspicious activity and the cops show up. This is a stretch but it would be sad to see park signs that said……. No Fires No Alcohol No Pets No Bicycles No Skate Boards No Geocachers
-
Yes it is a groovy thing. About the only data field missing now is one that registers how much fun are you having! The only other problem now is having to wipe off the mud from the first splat on the bad trail... kinda like the first dent in the new car!

Teriffic! It worked. I would never have found that Garmin site on my own. They (Garmin) hold their cards pretty close to the vest. Aside from being a slick little bonus this will come in handy as we have tide sensitive caches here in Puget Sound. Thanks for the info.
-
Are you saying you have both Tide Station info and City Select maps available on your 60C?
-
Just got mine and have a similar problem. If I try to 'find intersections' it will show no cities. If I go 'FI' and toggle to the region box and 'clear all' then all cities show up and the roads are there. Other than that this is going to be a delightful caching machine!

Roads and Rec is a very early Garmin mapping software package that by current standards is very crude. Its primary advantage now is it does a quite well if you are out in remote areas and requires very little memory. It does a very good job displaying Forest Service roads along with rivers and streams. It also has marine Nav aids but how up to date they are is questionable.
