  1. For those of us that do use TOMTOM for caching, what is the method you use for inputting the cache locations? I mean the co ords are given in Degs Mins DecMins but inputting is in Degs Mins Secs Do you manually convert them or what? I use TTN3 to get me to roughly where the cache is located then switch from map view to GPS Status which gives great co ords in Degs Mins DecMins. I find this strange as both bits of software are working together but using different plotting methods.
  2. I have been bitten by the bug - I'm not talking about nits, tics and gnats, thats another thread! I have an iPAQ and navigation sleeve on which I run TomTom 3. Purely used to get from A to B usually by the most direct route. I had found a forum on PCpocketgps.co.uk (or something like that) and there was a subject about radar sensors being banned fot detecting speedcameras. One of the posters asked how new legislation would affect these users as well as Geocachers. Having never heard of Geocaching, I went to Groundspeaks site and .... TOO LATE! Hooked. That was just over two weeks ago now. I have found only 19, bought a set of TB tags, bought a GPSr for the use of GeoCaching and am considering buying a 2nd as a backup/for my son! Looking forward to hiding my first cache next week. If you're wondering why I needed to buy another GPS unit, the answer is simple:- the iPAQ has a touch sensitive screen and every little knock either closes down the software or starts up MS Word! The second important point is battery life is limited to between 2 - 4 hours constant use which is no good if you keep it on all the time. If you turn it off, you wait too long for it to re-establish itself. Thought I'd bore the pants off you with that. Cheers.
  3. I see that I am described as a tadpole to the left, under my avatar. I notice many many others have customized theirs. I have tried this in my accounts setting AND yes I have logged out and logged back in and YES I did try the 'update your profile' button but nothing seems to change. My account Forum Title is still blank. Please, can someone tell me when I'll be a frog?
  4. You were all newbies once and I bet you all asked daft questions too!
  5. SP. Thank you for this information. I know it sounds silly, but I am quite nervous let alone anxious to place my first cache AND TB. Ideally, I would like to have submitted the cache page etc by the 22nd March 05 as that's my birthday! (21 again...) I am attempting to have a theme for all caches I hide in the future and at present I am working on no. 2 To make them fairly interesting is not as easy as one thinks. I have had a b*gg*r of a one today in Bucks - SP, reading from the logs you weren't a fan of the clues either, however, the cache itself is interesting. Know the one I mean? John Stead, Once again, thank you for the information you have proffered, it will indeed be taken into consideration. I do have a 'mission' in mind. The bit about the info in the bag is great - thanx.
  6. Many thanks for all of your replies. Hereford? Closed when I went!
  7. Hi. Very new to this fun sport having joined about 2 weeks ago now. I have found 18 caches and am in the process of hiding my first. I need a logbook! What I want to know is, how do I go about introducing a TB of my own? Ideally, I would like it to be in my first cache. Can anybody help? (I apologise if this topic has already been threaded!!)
  8. For good value and a fast service, I found that Custom Stamps Online are excellent. They will make your stamp from a logo / pic you send them i.e. Including P&P just over a tenner. Self inking stamp.
  9. Hi there. Found GeoCaching by mistake and found my first cache on the same day, however, I used it as a test as I knew the answer (virtual cache). That got thinking about doing another one. Had probs converting co-ordinates so I contacted SP and he helped me out, so I suppose - SP - you have another adoptee! I'll try not to be too much of a pain. Working on number 2 now. Looking forward to playing more. Based in Bucks.
