  1. The problem is that most 'machiners have cached extensively in the Seattle area (since the original CMs were planned by a Seattlite).
  2. We have a few frequently visited TB Hotels in the area. I could help. Nate - You're right, the TB numbers you posted cannot be used to log the coins.
  3. Not the best etiquette. But at least the TB is still travelling.
  4. This TB has been in the same cache for 8 months. I found the cache today and was surprised to find the TB since none were indicated on the cache page. When I checked the TB page it shows that its last action was being placed in the cache. Why isn't the cache page showing the TB being present? Nevermind - mystery solved. The TB owner had marked it as being in an unknown location. Kinda weird that that doesn't show up as a log entry
  5. The dome collapsed today around 3:00. A significant plume shot up as a result. I wonder if any hikers were on the rim at the time. It was a gorgeous day, I bet there were still people up there!!
  6. Still sucks at 10:30pm PDT
  7. I have tried three different ways. 1) Use MapSource to create the waypoint and then download them to the GPS. 2) Enter a waypoint using the GPS itself assigning it the GeoCache icon at creation time, 3) enter a normal waypoint and then change the icon to the Geocache None of these worked... UEOD - I was saving these with the treasure chest OPEN icon, not the CLOSED icon. So, they did not have the proper one. Once I change the icon to the CLOSED icon, they magically appear! Sorry for the noise, but this may help someone else... There is an option in the geocache menu to view "Found Geocaches" or "Unfound Geocaches". So, after a lot of geocaching you can switch to view all your "Found Geocaches" (i.e. chest OPEN) in order to do your online logging. It is easy to switch back-and-forth between the two views. Of course, viewing the "Waypoints" list instead of the Geocache list will show both types, as well as all other Waypoint types Oh yeah - and get GSAK onto your PC. It's free with an option to pay - you'll end up wanting to pay!
  8. If you found the cache, while looking into the hole the descent via brown rope is down (or up) the trail a few hundred yards to the left. If you went the other way (downhill), you'd have a more difficult time getting into the hole
  9. Wouldn't the best way be to create a cache page without it being approved? That way you can drop your coins in it, getting the reference point set up without risk of anyone seeking the cache (no-one will ever see the cache page). Plus you get the added bonus of having a cache page to experiment with
  10. There is a cache there. I recall it was named so as not to attract too much attention. But it is a cool place
  11. Wow! Clear, concise and accurate instructions! Thanks for all your effort into making this work (I know you wanted it for yourself), and for taking the time to make it so easy for the rest of the 60C community.
  12. I was out caching with the culprit twice before we found a cache that would accept TBs. Dang micros! Thanks for the chance to razz an ol' friend again!
  13. I was thinking that pocketpupsnet was just an anagram for netsockpuppet until I checked the profile. Of course you had an answer inside of 10 minutes here, gotta love these geocoin fanatics!
  14. Is this an increase in recent activity? It's kinda funny that just this weekend there was a story about how the mountain's dome-building activity is tapering off a bit and that there hasn't been much seismic activity!
  15. This may turn out to be some of the best advertising that geocoins.net could have asked for. It has stayed positive, the terminology has been accepted and they look like a great $1 item that I might want to drop in every cache, even the crummy caches; rather than having to be selective (due to cost) with coins and shoelaces.
  16. Sorry I won't be able to make it for the fun! I've 4 of these little guys growing in my front yard
  17. Do what you want with the number and just don't make it obvious to the casual observer. How many tracking numbers have been sold? Is a volunteer really going to hunt the number down if you don't advertise that you have a coin and a piece of scrap paper sharing the tracking number?
  18. That was the best option at the time. Probably still is read: Free
  19. Geosynchronous Orbit is appx 22,000 miles which would put them outside the GPS sattelites. Unfortunatly that means that any cache in low earth orbit would be a moving cache OK - so it wouldn't qualify for FTF, but there are a handful of moving caches that have been grandfathered. We just need to find a multi-millionaire(ss) to carry one up there on the next tourist flight.
  20. Did that raise its difficulty rating? I can imagine the scene as the car of cachers pulls up, and one is nominated to make the grab. The rest of them are staying back at the car yelling: "serpentine! serpentine!".
  21. Yes. Team Joyson is a well known geocacher. He goes on frequent long geo-sabbaticals though. I'll post something in the pdx forums.
  22. You need to upload the photo to somewhere (else) on the web and use a link to that location.
  23. They went out of business sometime this summer
  24. Congratulations Redwood Red! That is an amazing accomplishment. Good luck in getting to your ultimate goal weight! Random memory surge of the day: I remembered a posting that I made in the forums over 4 years ago (I confirmed it be searching my old postings) that we went to different high schools together. Anyone that wants to find out the year we graduated will have to do their own search
