  1. Yip! That would be the same one I got. I love it when I open my mail thinking it is going to be a CD from who-knows-where and it ends up being a gloriously non-trackable Christmas coin straight from the highest quality geocoin manufacturer
  2. Make sure to find using "Off Road" and not "Follow Road".
  3. I wonder what I would have done after 9 days of hunkering down. I was on a late summer bike ride over Bear Camp about 12 years ago. The back of the t-shirt for that ride says "I survived Bear Camp". There was another similar fatality within a few months of that ride. Whenever I see that shirt in my drawer I am reminded that bad things can happen in wonderful places.
  4. On the positive side, she *asked* for it to be replaced. Not just passively saying that it'd be OK if you did. Plus you got to share that wonderful email with us. Looks like a maintenance run is in order
  5. i was unaware that you could update the unit. is that done at garmin? There is a link in the pinned FAQ at the top of this forum that has links to the garmin pages for updating firmware.
  6. When I first tuned in the Seahawk game I thought the game was in Green Bay!
  7. If you peruse these forums a little bit you'll find that many of us worship at the altar of the 60CSX (some prefer to omit the S).
  8. I really hate reading a forum topic and actually learning something. Especially after the button-pushing question is resolved (in the OP no less!). Eraseek, please cease-and-desist
  9. Were you using alkaline batteries? I haven't seen that when my rechargeable batteries have died.
  10. It really was a lot of fun. If you can make the time to volunteer you'll really enjoy yourself. Despite what you may have heard, GEM's is a genuinely great guy! And you may even get a few freebies...
  11. I am feeling better now (3 days in the hospital!). I need to email NS to setup a new drop date. Wednesday should probably work OK.
  12. Ditto - 5 TBs arrived today. Will get them placed and try to assure that I get a peek at the new AK '06 coin
  13. off-GPS talk If you're training for a certain pace in the marathon (rather than to simply finish) then I highly recommend a heart-rate monitor for training. Eventually you'll know your heart rate within 2-3 bpm just from feel. It is really helpful to know that you're working as hard/lightly as you're supposed to be. You are following a training plan, right? Good luck! simply finishing is of course an oxymoron when discussing marathons
  14. Since I use rechargeable batteries (why doesn't every cacher?), on a caching day I turn on the 60CSX and leave it on all day long. With freshly charged batteries I always get through the entire day!
  15. Actually, a really awesome cache will come to an end. At least the part that makes it awesome will!
  16. Eirc K has addressed it, but it looks like it is only half broken. The icon on the trackables page still seems OK (I think that is what I saw yesterday
  17. My most recent drop of an unactivated coin was wayyy back on Wednesday. It was found on Friday. It made his day!
  18. You are currently holding the coin (electronically). You need to make another log entry on the cache now that the coin is in your "inventory". Just make a "Note" log on the cache you want to drop the coin in (presumably you already did physically place it?), and select the coin from your TB list at the bottom before submitting the log entry. Once you submit the log entry the coin will be deposited into the cache. You can go back and delete the log entry on the cache - this will not affect the coin at all and will keep the logs a little less cluttered on the cache page. If you haven't placed the coin yet, just do the previously described step while writing your "found it" log on the cache you leave it in. Have fun!
  19. Maybe you're using the wrong code? I was able to grab it from the owner using the PC number (rather than the TBRADY code) you included in your log entry Go ahead and grab it from me using the PC number and then remove the number from the online logs.
  20. I am glad I read all the posts before replying, or else I would have duplicated what R-n-R said!
  21. Yes, it would route using the GPSr's routable basemap. When the unit tries to route you using the basemap, it would route you exactly as you describe! The basemap is fine for routing on highways and main roads which is good for city-to-city routing. But for door-to-door routing with turn-by-turn directions, you need the route calculation data from the maps. In case it hasn't crystallized: you'll see the fine-resolution maps on the screen, but the routing won't be using those roads! It'll happily route you on the basemap-roads regardless of the maps loaded. The only time my GPSr told me to turn off of a freeway onto an overpass without an exit was in this EXACT scenario (I-5 in Olympia, WA)!
  22. A great one that happens to have an address 30 feet from the cache would be "The W.U.G. Bug Hotel". The Hotel is actually locked, so there is slim to no chance for them to go missing right away. You can contact the owner, and they could place them easily. Either that, or I live quite close to it, and could help. Cheers That's the same cache I was thinking of, for the same reasons. I haven't heard from Nate yet...
