  1. Amazing pictures, there appears to be a disc shaped object on several of them. Anybody else spot them or am I going UFO happy?
  2. I think tb's and coins are for travelling so the ones i bagged today will be out in the wild soon, if i want to collect something and keep it i will try stamps
  3. I could only get one per person at my local shop which seems fair
  4. If any of these coins do make it across the pond the yanks will never be able to work out what the map is of!!
  5. I managed to turn off the base map and the road&rec but the topo did not show through. I have had to change the name of the topo to gmapsupp2.img to stop it trying to replace the road&rec map and I think this could be something to do with it. Any ideas anybody?
  6. Got them working on my 60Cx and they are great, just what I've been looking for. Just one small question though, if I put them on the same micro SD as my roads& rec map the roads & rec map "takes over" is there a way to switch between maps (I can't find it in any of the menu's) or do I have to keep changing cards? Cheers mb
  7. Some people are allergic to spider bites and it can be VERY serious, I've heard of a couple of people ending up with a long stay in the ICU from spider bites.
  8. I’m afraid I can’t get over how everybody in the USA is so unconcerned about the carrying of guns. They seem to be treated as toys or items of amusement, the same way a child would regard model boat or car. The justification for these guns appears to be the dangerous wildlife present in the USA but how many cachers have truly found themselves in danger of a bear attack?, I bet lots have seen bears but how many have actually been in danger of being attacked?
  9. Have a word with John + Carol, they started NottsGeocachers which is on Yahoo
  10. Seeing this broke my heart, my son is just a little older at 14 and this is just tragic!!. I'm useless with words but my heart goes out to the family. mb
  11. I suppose photographers have a similar problem, but they won't have to explain why they're consulting a GPSr at the same time (unless they're Geographing!). Not so much wrong with that, especially if you cant get a signal! I'll have a look into those cats, not fully looked at london ones yet. (although I'm close) A slip of the mouse button this one
  12. Son......for grovelling around in hedge bottoms and checking out the muddy bits!!
  13. How about a solar powered pump!??
  14. Got mine from Jessops camera shop, had to cut it to shape but there was enough in the pack to do 2 GPS's and 2 cameras for about £3
  15. I think the simplest answer is just to buy a good quality box to start with!!
  16. I think my biggest purchase must be all the petrol but as it's usually the MRS that fills up I'm not too worried!!!
  17. We have had some excellent service from a pair of Binatone radios that we got from the scrap bin in Maplin for £4.99, the only problem was a broken battery wire which took 10 seconds and 1 spot of solder to fix. We did a hill top to hilltop test and had no problems over 5Kms range. Nice to see that the difference between RF channels and CTCSS(sub channels) was pointed out earlier in the thread ( the number of arguments I have had with supposedly educated people about multiplying RF channels by CTCSS is beyond belief!!) cheers ab&mb ps I get the feeling there are a lot more amateurs out there than let on!!!!
  18. Last Sunday a junior caching team that are currently under my wing decided to place a cache near a local wood along a footpath, when we arrived at the spot we were surprised to disturb acouple of local "naturists"(!!!) grabbing their clothes and running for the cover of the adjecent wheat field, the junior members were too interested in looking for the cache sight to notice ( yes I did say look at that!! , pointing in the opposite direction aswell) but the oppertunity for the shortist lived spoiler picture was missed as they disappeared into the wheat field.
  19. My old dads definition was:- "Hunting, shooting and fishing are sports everything else is a game" I think this was a bit of an old rural definition, but worth a mention.
  20. I'm very interested in last point as I'm just about to start doing trig points, but I can't find Southseekers or any posts by them (probably pilot error) could you let me have a bit more info please
