What I like to do when I'm in that situation is act like my gps is my phone and I'm pretending to talk away. As I walk around I may feel around or kneel down to look around all the while acting casual. And if necessary I might accidentally drop something to give me another reason to search around. But one way or another I will log the cache lol. You just have to be patient and take your time all while being creative.

I use my iphone4 99% of the time. Shen I'm going to the middle of nowhere I let my nuvi 1450 do the grunt work. Not exactly what I'd want to use but is all I have. iPhone does a great job for me as far as getting me within a few feet of the cache and sometimes spot on. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Montana or Colorado soon but i don't know if I can manually punch in coords with those or if I have to load them from my pc.

I really don't have a certain theme as of yet but I have seen some really nice coins that I have moved from one cache to another to help them along. I guess any coin that catches my eye or just kind of calls out to me so to speak. But so far the ones I've seen I pretty much like em all too

What other sights list caches? I thought all caches were through geocaching.com other than letterboxes.

I have the iphone4 and I have exclude my finds enabled and have no trouble with it. Try rebooting your phone via a hard reset if that doesn't work then try deleting the app and then re-installing it. Other than that I really have no other ideas. Hope that helps.

Hello there. Welcome to the game. Has you logged any finds, how many, what did you think when you heard about caching?

I've been caching for almost a year now an I've just recently logged my 200th find :) it's definately an addiction but it's a good one. I've got several of my friends hooked as well. Nothing like the feeling of finding your first cache...but like the others said welcome to the game. If you have questions or just off the wall topics the forums is the place to be.

Ok I would like to say thanks to all that helped me out. I have made my first trade and I'm super excited..so excited that I purchased 2 more coins from the one I traded with. A big thanks to Yanagi for donating a coin in my direction to help get me started. Can't wait to see it. So to sum it all up THANKS!!!! :)

Well seeing as how I'm fairly new to the forums I might as well chime in...my names Ernie and I'm from Kentucky, geocaching name is Hilbilly_Ern and I've being doing it since June of 2010. I just recently logged my 200th find . I cache with my wife Queena and our three children whom are all girl (lucky me right lol) Bethany who is 12, Kristin who is 11 and Amber who is 7 and we all love it. I just recently found what I have been told is a collectible coin so I have just one. It is a red duck with a black bowtie and is a MWGB geochick coin that has miachk#2 where the tracking number should be. I thought it to be almost poetic finding this coin seeing as I'm constantly surrounded by females lol. Anyway that's me in a nutshell. Cool contest and good luck to all.

I have recently decided to start a coin collection as it seems quite interesting. I have no idea how to go about doing this and would appreciate and advice or help. I will also take any donations (if that's even possible) to get me going. Ever since I started caching it seems I get drawn into the culture of it more and more and I can't get enough. I have 3 young children whome are girls that are usually caching with me plus my wife so my supply list is a tad larger than what id need if I went alone but my main pack is a Camelbak H.A.W.G.NV carries all I need when were doing some of the more woodsy hiking terrain. I carry things like first aid kit, emergency blankets, fire starter kit (flint and steel, fuel sticks, and tinder) spare flashlights, an emergency weather radio,bug spray, spare batteries for lights and radio, raincoats, emergency glow sticks, snacks, and of course the 3 liters of water the bladder holds and lots of swag, it may sound a bit much but I'm a better safe than sorry when it come to the family. As far as when I go alone or just me and my wife I carry a fanny style pack made by outdoor products Mojave 8.0 which carries 2 water bottles, lots of swag, snacks, small first aid kit, flashlight, and whatever extra I decide to throw in there. Another thing I've found extremely useful is purchasing one of those fisher space pensthat are pressurized because when it comes to signing logs that are damp or soaked it always writes on it without any trouble.

Ok I came across a red duck MWGB geochick coin that is not trackable and had no idea that so much trading and collection went on. So if anyone is interested on the coin I guess message me via my email address ernieanderson7@gmail.com the duck is red with a black bow around it's neck and has MIACHK#2 where the tracking number would normally be.
