Explorist Clickstick / Joystick Issues
Marcie/Eric replied to kevenh's topic in GPS technology and devices
Marcie's dad just got a exp300. I notice the click stick is fine, except for the 'up' direction. I use my thumbnail as well. If I try to use my finger, like the rest of the directions, it thinks i'm clicking 'enter' and not 'up'. It's not mine, so I could care less, I only carry it when i'm quading as a backup. -
What a great point. I still keep a 5.25 drive here. Just in case I want to play Kings Quest 4 someday. You can get a DVD-ROM, EIDE for 25 dollars. I paid 30-something for my blackfaced one.
-
But I just bid 28-hundred dollars for one on ebay?!

I wish this feature would be implimented. Perhaps I want to search the entire state for every cache that has "rusted truck" in it? I can't download every cache in my 100 mile area in a week by PQ, much less all of California. It seems like a simple addition, and stupid suggestions like searching a PQ yourself are just that.. stupid. We want a PQ option where every cache contains the word or phrase, not having to search them out within a PQ in a certain area. - It's like telling the people who want to find a Mystery cache to download all the caches for an area by PQ, then use GSAK to search out the mystery's.

I do have to say the concept of block mapping is interesting. You could play "spot the micro" in Seattle. You could also say "here's our office." There's actually a block map that goes right by Groundspeak HQ - at least the corner of it. The distinct building would help folks find us if it wasn't for the huge truck blocking most of it. I think this is awesome. It has some stuff in my town (Sacramento, Ca.) Seems pretty interesting to me. Jeremy: You mean Groundspeak HQ isn't in your garage?

Any cache that has paragraphs in each log entry has got to be good. I looked at it on GE too, the lake water looks darker than chocolate milk. I wouldn't do it. No reason why insane people shouldn't be able too.

You peed on a poor turtle? That's awful! I'll bet there was a splashback factor introduced from that shell.

this thread rocks.

I live out near Folsom. Sacramento is one of the most cache dense areas i've ever searched through. Welcome to the fun.
-
Wow. Good luck. Geocaching needs some more positive publicity.
-
You proposed after only 10 caches!? i'd have to wait for 100 to be sure.

I am proud to say that the nag screens made GSAK one of the few programs that I actually pay for. Clyde rules, support his awesome program.

[$0.02] RR tracks are dangerous. However, I see no real problem with RR's over highways and surface streets. Has anyone ever stood near the tracks while a train is near? They vibrate the tracks and ties, plus sometimes surrounding ground, they make extreme noise, and the have horns that are loud. Why is is some problem with placing within 150ft of tracks, but there are micros right next to busy roadways? -Which are more dangerous in my opinion. The 150ft is a good rule, safe. But it seems just from the single photo that it's too close, unprotected, and easy for some idiot (many adults and kids) or possibly a handicapped person to get to the tracks and get hurt. I also think you're reviewer is a jerk if he was unwilling to take a second look at your photos and further details and description. Put a big warning that "the cache is not on or North of tracks" for example... and study times, then put the train schedule on the cache page too. [/$0.02]

Cache Ideas That Were Killed At The Drawing Board
Marcie/Eric replied to dogbreathcanada's topic in General geocaching topics
Ooooh! Electronic markers! I'm a geek, tell me more! They are not ready yet. The issues im dealing with are power consumption and weather resistance. Power consumption is the main issue. Trying to make it run as long as possible in a single battery. I don't want to have to change betteries constantly. Solar? -
LOL. Neopets. I totally forgot about those...

Just got my coins. They look freakin awesome. Thanks again DG. Now to beat the heat and go place a couple.

I have: some California Quarters a couple little single AAA maglites. a couple little McToy-types that I traded out of a cache (for now) a couple "#1CHEESE" California License plate keychains a couple "CAGROWN" California License plate pins a couple Mini-micro type cars for smaller caches. if I run out of trading stuff, I always keep some extra batteries
