  1. Can we add Boysie to the list for Essex.
  2. Oh yes I agree, for the record attempt - but you did say "this whole game", which I took to be the whole game of geocaching I just think generally people tend to get hung up on numbers and finds and forget that they really aint that important. Chris
  3. To get out in the countryside? have an enjoyable day out? Discover places you would never have senn otherwise? Solve puzzles? .....
  4. The only one we had problems with was when the box had been slightly bent out of shape so that the seal didnt work correctly. This only became a problem when the cache was under 2 foot of water. Other than that we have had Ammo boxes in the field for over 3 years with no problems. Chris
  5. Thank you - exactly what I needed. Thanks Loads. Chris
  6. Does anyone have details of what dates i should be using to get all of the UK? I've got in a right mess with my PQs now and can't work out if I am missing some caches or not. Ta Muchly chris
  7. You have our sympathy Ali - its happened to us too. Our advise is that if you have an estate, DONT pull the boot cover over as it only makes the bastards more curious. Chris
  8. Yesterday was a very long day considering I left work early! I work about 100 yards from bank tube station and spent most of the day trying to get in touch with friends and family to make sure everyone was all right. At one point we heard some loud rummbles, which thankfully turned out to be thunder. The mood of most londoners on the way home was the same stoic resignation they adopt for train strikes, leaves on the line, etc. it seems Al Quieda will have to work a lot harder if they want to bring the city to a halt...that's London Transports job. I came to work today as normal - there is no way I am letting those b*st*rds think they have won. Peace, Light and love. Chris
  9. How about 1732.gpx ? But it comes even less regularly than Pooter
  10. Congrats matt - you know I couldn't have done it without you Chris
  11. The full set of Coalposts are available in a variety of different downloadable formats here. Enjoy Chris
  12. OK folks, I've managed to bully the PDF file into some sort of shape and then used Waypoint Workbench to export in a load of different formats. I'll try to make them available on our website when I get home tonight. HTH Chris
  13. I'm constantly surprised what people get out of this hobby - I've never thought of their being a "secret thrill" in caching. Different folks, different strokes I guess.
  14. Ahhh, but that aplies to 90% of the caches in central london as well (physical and virts) should they be banned too?
  15. With you all the way on this Jessex - in the "good old days" virts and holiday caches were allowed but gradually the rules changed to make the game more and more restrictive. There seemed to be a problem (mostly in the U.S.) with people placing Lame virtuals. In order to combat this the rules for virts were changed. Placing lame physicals seems to be OK its jut virts that have been singled out. In my view a rubbish cache is a rubbish cache be it virt, physical, multi, mystery, whatever. I have never understood the obsesion with physicals - but then I have always believed that "the real treasure is the location" . We are promised a new solution for virts and locationless but why they will no longer be counted as "real" caches anymore is a mistery to me. Ho hum Chris
  16. Well we attempted the cache but (unusually for us) didn't log a failed to find. The previous (wrong) location matched the, really scant, description well. On arrival at the location we thought "why on earth would anyone place a cache there" the location had absolutley nothing going for it. We didn't bother to get out of the car as we just couldn't see the point in the cache. Rather than log it we just added it to our ignore list. Perhaps we should have logged it as a failed to find saying "what a rubbish place to put a cache...etc, etc" but we didn't as who are we to define what others should get out of the game? Perhaps it was logged as a find by the person in question to get it off their nearest cache list. It looks like we have done McDeHack a disservice - for which we appologise. The problem is basically the cache description - if it dosn't tell you roughly where you should be...how would know if you are there? Chris
  17. Doggit, Don't let them fool you - it took me 2 years to work out that there is never any food in these cache things. Still the walks are nice. Many happy sniffs. Boysie
  18. Dave, you should so our caches they only ever contain at least a thousand pounds - hope this dosnt count as cache advertising
  19. If Boysie wrote that, I can see it could be even more confusing Supurb - touche So far we have established that English is blooming complicated....So why do people insist on moaning at people at others who don't get it "right". Their energy would be much better spent on finding ways to make the language more usable and understandable. Chris (standing in for Boysie who has gone to bed now )
  20. Nope - sounds the same...spell it the same. If there is confusion use a different word.. simple. Geocache- Geocash would it make any difference ? Also if I said to you "I fancy a shake" you would have to have more information to understand what I was talking about. the same should apply to writing - otherwise its just lazyness.
  21. Ahh the OSI 7 layer stack a bit like Esperanto - all things to all men...but no one really cares And another thing ...Could someone please explaine why people insist on using two instead of 2 - their cannot possibly be a good reason for that can there?
  22. Well thats just silly and asking for confusion...it should be stopped at once!
