OK......I am just not figuring all of this waypoint conversion out using gpsbabel. I downloaded the new version and think I am doing it correctly. Here is a step by step: 1. I go to the open box and find my .gpx file that I have saved from my etrex legend and convereted with Easygps (I don't have garmins software). Babel seems to recognize the .gpx file as I can pick it out of the "all files" choice and it automatically assigns the .gpx extension 2. I then go to the format box just above the output box and pick the Lowranceusr choice. 3. I then go to the output file box and give my file name and location ( I don't see the lowranceusr choice in the output box which is confusing) 4. I then click process and it says conversion complete (very quickly...should there be some process time? File is very small only 69 waypoints) 5. The file shows up in the location that I have chosen but has no .usr extension and I can't open it with the Lowrance waypoint software or in my new Lowrance fishfinder. Could someone give me an idea what I am doing wrong here? I have tried working with this for two nights and have to be doing something wrong. I have also tried converting to other formats that are on the output box and can't seem to open them up either in another program. I have about 300 Garmin waypoints that I need to get into Lowrance format. I also need to go from Lowrance to Garmin. Thanks James

Thanks Stan for your post .....in both places I went and got GPSBABEL and just can't seem to figure it out. I tried for two nights and, to be honest with you, I can't get past the terminology. If someone could walk me through it that would really be helpful....... Thanks James

Hi to all.....I am new to this conversion thing and need some advice. I have the need to convert Garmin e-trex files to a tab-delimited text file with the following information: Waypoint Stop 001 N50.68031 W001.06877 "Waypoint" means that this line describes a waypoint. "Stop 001" is the Name of the waypoint "N50.68031" is the Latitude of the waypoint, in decimal degrees. "W001.06877" is the Longitude of the waypoint, in decimal degrees. Each field is separated from the next by a Tab character. I have figured out how to convert most of the data so it will work but it is a 4 - 5 step process. I currently use EASY GPS to convert the Garmin data to a .gpx file. Then I use http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert to convert the gpx file to tab-delimited file. I then edit the file in excel and/or note pad so I can use it in the program that loads it into my new Humminbird fishfinder/gps combo. I would also like to go from tab delimited to Garmin if possible. Anyone know of a way to do this with one piece of software (free or shareware would be nice) I am very new to using any of this software so will have many more questions I am sure. TIA James
