  1. No doubt! When we were there in March we purposely left the Interstate between Lincoln and Kearney. Found plenty of caches to keep us busy, too! BTW, here's my state (blue are found, green are unfound) That big blob in Denver looks better close-up (red are unfound) Looks like you got some work to do smurf guy. Hoping to be in the Colorado Springs area in the next month or so and get some caches while there.
  2. It's only a "flat, boring drive" if you just drive it, and don't leave the interstate. Within miles of I-80 in Nebraska, I've found some amazingly cool geocaches in beautiful natural spots: The muddy waters of the Platte River, where hundreds of thousands of sandhill cranes stop for a long rest on their annual migration. The rugged bluffs along the Missouri River. And many a secluded fishing pond, that only the locals know about -- the locals who hide geocaches there. People like Starbrand. It's quite easy to have a terrific day of geocaching that consists of 20 mile drives in between caches. I've had days where I've collected 20 finds in a high-density area, gotten home, and said to myself, "none of those caches or locations were memorable." If you have a narrow definition of "beautiful," you'll experience far less of the world's beauty. Geocaching helped me appreciate Nebraska's true beauty. There are some really cool caches in some really beautiful areas here in Nebraska. From rolling hills covered w/ trees, canyons filled with cedar trees, fields full of crops, to the almost desert type area of the panhandle. There is alot to see here besides I-80. One of the 10 most scenic routes in the United States
  3. History During Art Class Old Dunlap Ghosts Farm Land OverLook Boots -n- Saddles My area favorites...... Thanks will put them on my to do list. By the way here is 75 mile map in all directions of my area. 20 of those caches belong to the wife and I.
  4. I know what you mean StarBrand. Had to head out your direction the other day to get some caches. Went 330 miles on Tuesday. Went west of Sidney south to Julesburg, Co then looped back home. Got 9 caches in that 330 miles. Have got most of the ones in Kearney area (a few left to get there). So I guess will be heading your direction in the next couple weeks for a couple days to do some caching. Probably be in your area at end of the month. Any suggestions on caches not to miss?
  5. In that case, I'm number 1. I challenge you to a "fun off". The winner gets the number one spot. I got winner. Maybe we should have a "fun off tournament"
  6. Just imagine what would be in caches if everyone traded even or up. If you started out with Mctoy's and each person traded up, what would be in a cache after say 50 to 100 finds. We would have alot more cachers out there for one thing.
  7. My very first cache I placed is a hunting and fishing themed cache next to a lake. Since it was my first cache I put a fishing pole and reel with the cache for FTF. About a $30.00 item at Wally-World.
  8. I had the same problem w/ Netscape mail. Changed to a new e-mail account and no problems since then. If you got a new Yahoo e-mail account re-run the PQ for today and see if they come through.
  9. I came across a cache that had been found by three 14 year old boys. They were having a stick fight when one of them fell down on the cache. They went through the cache, took nothing, and all signed the log explaning they had found it and placed it back where they found it. So at least those youngsters were good honest kids. Maybe even future cachers.
  10. I wonder how many people would be honest and fess up that they skipped to stage 5.
  11. I saw a log were the cache was in an old rusty pickup. A cacher lost their pen and used rust they scratched off the pickup to sign.
  12. I agree no sign no find. What about those that leave cards or stamp the log instead of signing? I still count as a find in this case.
  13. I have done this cache and it was awsome. One of my favorite all time caches. It was different and well done.
  14. I log all DNF. You either find them or you don't. Even if the cache is missing it still was not found. If you post a DNF and later go back to find it, that shows that you didn't let that cache get the best of you. I have left notes on multi's that I didn't finish for some reason and am planning on going back to finish at a later time. I have had other cachers e-mail me and say they looked 3 or 4 times for a cache I placed and could not locate it so it must be MIA. If a DNF was logged after a couple of times I would have checked to make sure the cache was there. By the way the 3 caches that this was done on were still in place w/ no problems. I have often thought about logging a note to say that someone looked for this cache x amount of times and e-mailed me they could not find it but the cache is there. That way there is still some history of a DNF for other cachers to see.
  15. There is already a thread on this Here with some good ideas.
  16. Started caching two months ago. 125 finds and 16 hides between the wife and I. 62.5 finds /month. 8 hides /month. And still going.....
  17. I used my GPSr for many years at work. I drilled irrigation and water wells and had to use lat/lon to register them with the state. Also used to keep locations of wells that we had drilled.
  18. Did this cache and it uses reflectors, only on each reflector there are coords for the next location to look for a reflector. In other words go to start coords. and shine light around to find reflector. On that reflector are the coords. for second location. Go to that location and shine light around looking for another reflector. This cache had 4 legs that you needed to do this at each location to complete the trip to the cache. Use of both GPSr and light for finding reflectors is needed.
  19. Sorry about that. Didn't think about how the naked mother-in-law image could damage a person.
  20. Just got this log on One of my caches. I got a kick out of it. April 5 by pack hunters (241 found) this was a neat area for a cache, and really is dog friendly, but the TICKS liked the dogs and humans just a bit too much, after we were back on the road the wife looked down at the dog and FREAKED OUT, you see she is a city girl and does not like things that crawel so we got off at the next exit and proceaded to pick ticks it was all I could to keep her in her clothes, I told her that people on the interstate may not understand what she was doing and may call the cops on us, not to mention the mother in law that was freaking out also and wanting to get out of her clothes, could you imaging two women running around naked on an off ramp??OK maybe it wasent that bad but we did all have the itchies the rest of the day!! thanks for the hunt! Took sparkle the TB Left a chunck of obsidian The Pack Hunters from Corvallis
  21. I use waterproof match holders that you can get in the sporting goods department of Wal-mart or most other stores. They are usually orange and need to be painted or use camo tape. Then epoxy a magnet on. They have a screw on lid w/ O-ring to keep out moisture. Only cost $.99 to boot.
