  1. Where's the Trails Map? The same one that is used in the APP?
  2. Performance problems seem to be browser and OS independent ... The SEARCH map runs at close to 40% on MAC OS using Safari. So bad behavior all around.
  3. That list format is available from a location -- yes on the front search page ... However, you used to be able to see BOOKMARK lists in this format -- if you clicked on a PUBLIC bookmark list it would show in the nice multicolumn output format -- now if you try and list a bookmark in that format it REDIRECTS you to the NEW map format instead. NOT what I want. I want to be able to use the real estate of the DESKTOP web interface and have it be formatted in such a useful way for a DESKTOP. It's EASY .css to change the display for a Desktop over a display for a tiny screen of a phone. This new map stuff makes it *really* hard to plan out a days worth of caching without giving me carpal tunnel for all the extra clicks that I need to do in order to display basic types of data.
  4. With this new "SEARCH" --- you've broken the nice "LIST" format of caches. I want to see a LIST of caches. Not Mapped. Just the LIST. With Sortable columns ... just like the LIST we see if we search from our HOME location. One used to be able to LOOK at LISTS of BOOKMARKS -- (IE. YESTERDAY) and be able to copy these caches to my own lists. Now -- since TODAY -- this is no longer possible. This URL used to work beautifully -- and now it is BROKEN. https://www.geocaching.com/play/search?ot=4&bm=BM4C477&f=2&sort=GeocacheName&asc=True This was HOW we MERGED bookmarks -- (since you arbitrarily limit us to only have 100!) -- and now this has broken. I want the option to LOOK at lists -- nice WIDE lists -- not side lists formatted for Mobile display. Not a happy camper with this change and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
  5. On unknown/puzzle caches the coordinates on the cache are rarely the final coordinates. Only when you put in the corrected or solved coordinates will the icon change from a question mark to a puzzle piece. There appears to be no way to enter corrected coordinates with the latest version of the Android app. Previous versions one could put in the corrected or solved coordinates and the icon would change to a puzzle piece and move to the corrected/solved coordinates location.
  6. Seems to be missing in new version of app? We used to hit start on a puzzle and it would ask us if we wanted to go to posted coordinates or entered solved coordinates. Entering the solved would give the lovely solved puzzle icon and would move the icon to those coordinates. This no longer appears to be the case. I have to go to the website now to enter the corrected coordinates so that the icon moves and becomes a puzzle piece. This seems like a giant step backwards! What am I missing?
  7. Yikes! I tried it. It doesn't live up to expectations quite yet. How do I go back to the old map???????
  8. Please allow more than 100 bookmark lists. I use bookmark lists to keep track of puzzles, challenges to do, and caches that qualify for challenges, Geoart lists, caches within a geoart, caches for coin challenges, caches for cache machines, caches for upcoming day trips, caches for upcoming longer trips, day planning for caches on trips abroad, caches I need/want to get today, cemetery caches, lamppost caches, guardrail caches, solved puzzles that need to be found, gadget cache lists, caches to find when I'm in that area of town, old caches, caches I need for my Fizzy, caches I need for my Jasmer etc etc etc. It is very very very easy to exceed the 100 caches lists -- especially now that one can copy cache lists. Please please please allow more than 100 caches ... 256 would be a nice number -- if you need an arbitrary number at all. Or better yet 1000. AND -- please allow us to sort the cache lists either by most recent or by the alphabet. Please, please, pretty please with your favorite topping on top?
  9. From a previous pos the Friday night is at 6 pm at McGlinn's Public House, 111 Orondo Ave, Wenatchee.
  10. According to Travis from Dec 14th: The pre-event dinner will be 6 PM Friday at Billy’s Bar & Grill, 322 E. Heron St, Aberdeen. Last-minute changes will be announced there and then posted later that Friday night in this forum. It's not an official event. It'll be very informal. You know the routine for these things by now.
  11. The Discover Pass can apparently be obtained in many local gas stations and local stores. Walmart in Aberdeen amongst them. 12. Anyone want to create an early morning Coffee Event in December 31st in the area so that we can all get our coffee in the morning and get our Souvenir?
  13. Thanks noncentric for your reply. I did a complete un-install / re-install this morning and the refresh issue went away. I would say that there is a problem with having too many "offline" lists or too much "data" offline. I still don't get why the 100 bookmark lists. At least 50 of mine are "challenge lists". We will see how long this "fix" lasts.
  14. I'm running version 5.6.1 of the app on Android 7.0 The map won't refresh caches as I move to a new area at all. The caches that are showing were populated a day or two ago. (picture #1) You can see that the empty area of the map is missing lots of caches. Yes, there are probably at least 500 in that area. Today, the only way I have any caches on the map at all is because I entered them one by one. And this map hasn't updated my smilies either. (picture #2) I've restarted the phone, shut down the phone completely. Restarted the App. Cleared the application cache. I've been using the app on this phone for over a year. In the past couple of weeks the app has become incredibly slow and unresponsive. Thoughts? PS -- I did have a lot of "offline" bookmark lists -- and still sort of do. Been clearing those out but hasn't helped.
  15. Please! The RIGHT-CLICK option isn't the long term solution to this issue. I shouldn't have to resort to using the feature of the browser to open a new page to Go to the OLD page that already exists. There is no telling when that "old page" will disappear completely from the website. An option to add comments to the bookmarked item is required.
  16. That is true. However, you can create a new list by visiting the page of any cache and clicking "add to list." The top option is to create a list -- just type the new list's name in the box, hit enter, and you're set. This is not a useful way to create a new bookmark list -- especially if you are interfacing from GSAK or other generated items and just want the bookmark list to be there -- brand new shiny and empty.
  17. All three of these can be easily gotten by parking relatively close to where each cache is. You can park at Killing the urge, do the walk to the FFTE and then walk back and grab your car and park by Hoops anyone. I did all three of these when I was less then physically active and quite sick. PS: Stop 45 is up and ready to go.
  18. In the Lists view, it tells me I have 99 lists. I've run into the issue with 100 being the limit. By the way, why is 100 the limit on lists????? Now that the Pocket Querys and Bookmark Lists are both showing up -- do they combine to be the 100? Also - both showing up is very confusing when one has generated a PQ from the Bookmark. So back to my story. I have 99 lists -- I scroll down and find a few "test" lists to delete. I delete them from the APP and it tells me "This list has already been deleted." It is no longer on the website but it is on my phone. Also the "sorting" by last updated is completely ridiculous when you have 99 lists. Can't you put -- Most 10 recent at the top and then make them alphabetical after that? It takes forever to find the right list if I haven't used it in 2 days. Thanks for taking the time to work on this app and get the features into it ... but some of the annoying things have been there for a long time and aren't being addressed.
  19. In this case, it seems to be specific to airplane mode in particular. Being offline/out of service should work okay, although it's harder for us to test that case comprehensively. The problem is that in airplane mode, some phones "don't even bother trying" to make a network call, which causes the bug Why are you trying to make a network call at all? That's the problem. If the data is offline??? If the phone is "out of service" area -- it (app/phone) keeps trying and trying and trying and trying to do the network calls and absolutely KILLS the battery. If the app has an "offline" mode switch in the settings, then the app should never be doing network calls -- ever. This would also be useful if I have the data offline and my phone is in an area where I get minimal reception - but no DATA -- or I am in another country where I don't want to accidentally use DATA! Just tell the APP it's to run in offline mode and all should be good. PS -- I can to this thread because I spent the weekend incredibly frustrated with the OFFLINE capabilities -- I could see 5 logs (not enough by the way) and I could see the waypoints and my GPS would work, but I couldn't see the ABOUT page and I couldn't see the HINTs. Very frustrating when you are on a power trail of mystery challenge caches on a bike out of cell phone reception range.
  20. If I'm looking for caches in the App -- whether it be at my current location or somewhere else I've scrolled to on the map, we really NEED a button that says -- REFRESH THE CACHES and show me the caches in the current area of my screen. It's so bloody frustrating to scroll slightly out of the current area only to have to wait sometimes 3 or 4 minutes before it decides to refresh the caches. And then you scroll another inch or 2 to the left of right and it looses the caches that you had loaded. Add to that these stupid, stupid, stupid circles that are just COMPLETELY senseless in an urban situation. I'm looking at an area less then a square mile and it's showing me CIRCLES. UGH! Please, please, please, modify the options on these circles to be governed by the user and please give us a way to refresh the area that we are in. All the other Apps do this. Sigh. PS ... we know that you are trying and slowly are getting things into the APP. YAY and huge KUDOS for finally getting the personal NOTES into the APP! Triple Cheers for that!!!!
  21. The GPS lag is atrocious on the new app and has been for the past 8 to 10 months. Before that, it was actually okay. Driving with the APP and hoping it updates is past useless. Walking is just nuts. Other apps, other devices do not have this issue. This is with a Samsung S7 Nougat. Really pathetic that this has not been addressed. The 5 second / 15 feet update rule is not acceptable when every other GPS in both the Android and iPhone world use much higher frequency of updates. Please fix this. I add my frustration that I was not able to log my Events yesterday with the app. Really? Had to use c:geo . Seems I'm using it more and more. Which is sad because for the most part I prefer the app. I still wish we had access to personal notes though.
  22. The APP is posting in GMT and is not paying any attention to using local_time() as a function. Most apps will use a local_time() function to convert the date/time appropriately. This one most definitely uses GMT as right now in PST after 4 pm it posts to the next day and in the summer it's after 5 PM PST. When in Australia and NZ, the same thing would happen. Incredibly frustration for people trying to get their "most in a day" or to maintain a streak with the APP posts their finds at the wrong date / time.
  23. Are you not aware there are other caching apps? Most have the Groundspeak seal of approval, and some are fully-featured like you wouldn't believe. Here's the official but slightly out-of-date list: https://www.geocachi...obile/partners/ It's irrelevant if there are other applications out there. The original post is pointing out the issues in the app that is provided as free and is replacing a paid one. In my post, I do say that I do actually use other apps. Not a problem. However, as with any app, bug reports are part of the game and as such, these are bugs with the new app. And this forum is for discussing the new app.
  24. I unlike most people have been using the "new" app for the past year and a half on my Android Phone. I've seen features get added and it is slowly improving. However, there are still many things that it can not do and I need to go elsewhere to do and it has many many annoying bugs and issues. Most of the people I cache with regularly all still use the Classic App. They are not a happy group. I do own the Classic App and there are just some things that one either has to do through the classic app or through a webpage if you are on a phone. I also have a Oregon 600 that I use if I'm out of cell phone service and I also have Cachly loaded on an iPad. Here is my laundry list off the top of my head: 1) Logging date is based on UTM and not local time. This sucks as anything that I find after 4 pm in the afternoon (I live in PST) I have to go to the website on a computer and correct them all. Time is a really simple thing to get correct in the world of programming. Every other application doesn't have an issue. Neither does the OLD app. Please fix this. It's even more annoying if you are on the other side of the world and it posts on the wrong DAY. 2) No access to personal notes. This sucks because I will put notes in there about locations and or solved coordinates and they are not accessible from the APP. To get around this I use the CLASSIC app OR up until today I opened the geocaching website and went from there -- however just starting today, the Geocaching.com website insisted on putting me into the New App every time I looked for a GC code. 3) The GPS update is limited to 5 second intervals which makes traveling along at 30 MPH pretty much impossible to stop at the right location as the distance doesn't count down correctly and update appropriately. Again, the OLD app doesn't have this problem, nor does Goggle Maps, Waze, C:Geo or Cachly. There are so many times that the compass just DOES NOT MOVE. This 5 second / 15 ft interval just doesn't cut it. Please fix. 4) Corrected coordinates DO NOT maintain themselves in the APP. Repeatedly I have the corrected coordinates on the website and in my personal notes and I get to the New APP and the coordinates ARE NOT THERE. At one point you could see sometimes that it had a "solved" next to the GC, but now that has disappeared. If the Unknowns are in a list and I open the list, the coordinates won't be there. So bloody incredibly frustrating the number of times I have to go back to the CLASSIC app to get the coordinates. It seems this whole mechanism is broken. At least Cachly shows you different icons for GC's that have corrected coordinates. 5) Travel Bugs - argh. Can't log all my current inventory to a cache as I can on the website. The NEW app also shows ALL the TB's that I've EVER had in my possession, not just the ones that I currently have. I also can't tell which ones that I'm referencing. ARGH. 6) You can't give FAVORITES to Virtuals or Webcams or Earthcaches -- or at least I couldn't a month ago. 7) Search capabilities????? What search capabilities? Only being able to search by the GC code? What about all the other search options that are available in the CLASSIC app? Search for an Cache Owner, search by the cache name, search in a radius, all the search options that one has on the WEBSITE and the CLASSIC app. Since now I can't get to the desktop version of the website from my phone to search and I won't be able to search via the CLASSIC app .... Sigh. 8) GPSr's have the ability to write field notes -- although I don't use them often -- personal notes and field notes are a must. 9) When you launch the directions option from a multi-cache or a solved puzzle it takes you to the original coordinates and NOT the coordinates which are currently Active. This sucks when driving around to puzzles and having Waze/Google point you to the original coordinates instead of the corrected. 10) Bookmark lists aren't sorted in alphabetical order -- or there is NO option to sort in alphabetical order -- with 100 lists possible, do you know how hard it is to find a list in random order? There are probably more things -- this is off the top of my head -- and remember, I'm one who primarily uses the NEW app --- and there are things that I need to do daily that I just can't do using the NEW app. Also in your survey -- you give a laundry list of items but then restrict to 3 ?????? Are you kidding me? All those features should be a given. At any rate. I don't envy you guys getting all this fixed in just over a month.
  25. You actually need the option to display both (one at a time) -- the original location and the solved location. Prime example of needing the original - is working with Geoart that are all puzzles. If you ALWAYS show the corrected locations, you'd never get to see your finished geoart.
