    Updated list with pictures here

For the prices you are charging, I strongly recomend that people check the manufactureres site first. They will likely be a lot cheaper.

  2. Where is the best place to buy new and vintage geocoins from a USA vendor.

I have searched the web but am having a hard time finding a vendor , any suggestions ?

I am relatively new to all this.

While I am on the topic , what is the loss rate on "cool" geocoins , do they really get passed around or do they get gobbled up. I mean I don't mind sharing a good coin with strangers , even if I never see it again, as long as it remains in circulation. But I don't want to hand out free coins to people who are not committed to the purpose of sharing geocoins, when I shell out over $ 10.00 to "put it out there".

    Loss rate 20%,50%,75% , 90%

    Any idea's or statistics?

    Maybe a poll ?

I like searching eBay and then when I find one I like Google search the coin. Most coins on eBay are available from the original manufacturer much cheaper.

  3. Hi all, i typed ' biggest cache in the world '', into google and it came up with one found by sloppy jo and amysan, it looks like a large tank type container with a lid, (clip on you tube) , but then there was another one that was done by someone called Seth, this one appears to be at his house, so was the container large or was it just the fact that it was in his house that made it large. There was another one but it was a small container hidden on the largest truck in the world, so again does this pass as the largest cache or is it just because it was on a large truck.

I'm asking because i intend to hide a large cache and was wondering if it was possible for me to have a go at the largest cache in the world but i just need to know the actuall size of the largest cache container .

If anyone has any info that would be helpfull, i'd be really grateful.

thanks and look forward to hearing from you guys and gals

Howard Carter found one in Egypt a while ago that was pretty big and quite valuable.

  4. I am getting ready for a trip from Newfoundland that includes some stops in Quebec. I have found a cache near one of the campgrounds that I will be staying at but it is all in french.

    This is the description:

Attache ta tuque, le vent vient de loin

    La cache comprends

    Les explications pour géomoldus

Un log book ( apporter votre crayon )

    Un grateux pour le PAT

This is what babelfish gives me:

Your tuque attaches, the wind comes by far the hiding place include/understand Explanations for géomoldus A log book (to bring your pencil) grateux for the STALEMATE

This is what Bing! gives me:

Attaches ta tuque, wind has by far the cache understand Explanations for géomoldus A log book (bring your pencil) A grateux for the PAT

All I can figure out is that there is a logbook and I have to bring my own pencil. I don't need a translator to know that!

    Can someone help me please?

    Thanks in advance,

    Guiderchachi

  5. I have this idea to lock an ammo can and hide the keys a lil ways away in a film can. I figured out how to lock the can but i am gettin the idea that puttin a locked ammo can in the woods and hiding the keys is a bad idea. What do you think???

Use a combination lock and make it a multi. First cache has the combination and lat/lon of the final .... or get a combo lock that you can set the numbers on and set the combination to the last 3 digits of either the latitude or longitude.

    Cheers,

    Panda Inc

Or to be truly diabolical, make the coordinates to the locked ammo box. Draw or paint on the outside of the ammo box the lat and long of a film canister that has the combination.
