  1. I have the GPSMAP60, not the color screen. I bought a car kit from amazon that came with the city maps cd. I also bought an antenna from ebay and it really improves the reception - especially deep in the woods.
  2. Huh? I just decoded the words. I'll say it again - huh?
  3. What was in my mailbox today (Wednesday)? A fake rock, not the grounspeak version or an ACE hardware version, but a one of a kind, real rock with a waterproof container to hold a log.
  4. I thought I read a post in here that Disney has people check gc.com for placements, so they can remove them.
  5. Let me preface the following by saying that I am single and live alone. I dropped the house phone. People want to call me, not my house.
  6. To help prevent the loss or at least extend the journey, I have mission statements like 'place me only in multi-caches' or 'in 5d/5t caches.' Roadside or easy single stage caches are what teenage muggles love to steal from. I like the drill a hole in it or dremel (deface) it a bit ideas.
  7. See what I mean How many people are stuck with a lot of unsold coins - are there _any_ recent trackable coins sales that have not sold out?
  8. Keep the tracking and make it $20. The collectors will buy them regardless. It'll make 'em think its more valuable. With a limited run, they will sell out.
  9. And I thought you were going to make all 250 come out to Utah to claim there share of the booty. Wouldn't that be an evil twist!!! I mean if we all did show up on your doorstep. "I like me eggs over easy captain."
  10. Nashville, TN and Jacksonville, FL appear to be full of easy caches. Although they appear to be "lame micros" - its not stopping me from planning to grab them. I see over 800 easy ones within 25 miles of Nashville I've been told that there are some hikes in CA where you can grab a hundred finds. CiC
  11. Umm could I have the coordinates for the drug deal. I guess you can score cr. meth even in the adirondacks. By the way, was there a rainbow gathering happening there? Seriously, you didn't swear or call the hider names - you are WELL within the safe side of a posting. A disgusting, unsafe area is not a place for a cache.
  12. I love you man! (Can I have your beer?) Sometimes it IS about the numbers.
  13. So, I got this rose compas coin, TBNV4C, at an event. I go and place it an realize that its no longer in my inventory. Some german cachers are logging the coin and placing it back where it was, two events ago. Luckily, the coin tracking number came up tn a autofill field (Thanks Mr. Gates!) so I could reclaim the coin and then place it the cache, where I physically put it. Part of the coin craze is to get those icons on your stats page. I don't understand how anyone feels satisfaction from guessing a tracking number and faking a grab. To be fair, this coin may have an element of sharing the tracking number, I'm not really sure.

    Pq Requet

I run a PQ just to see what caches have bugs. (Just to see if there any neat ones worth the hunt) Some caches have coins but not a tb. These do not show up on my results. Since so many coins are now tracked in gc.com, would it be possible to add an option (in pq selections) to list caches that have coins (of course, just the ones that are tracked in here)?
  15. Just like a physical (real) TB. Log your find or write a note or __ of a cache and click the TB you are leaving in the cache. Is this what your were looking for?
  16. I'm hoping that the 'popularity filter' will eventually be our tool to help identify those places that truly have a wow factor. By rating the places, we can tell others that is just filler or this is a must stop place. Right now, everything is so new that we can't tell which is worthy of our visit.
  17. This happend on my gps (garmin gpsmap60) when I go backwards. It does this sometimes when I stop walking. Someone just told me that 'the arrow is accurate _only_ when you are moving at 4 mph. Not to say that less than that its unuseable, but it can move around a bit when strolling. Keep an eye on home many feet from the cache it says you are.'
  18. I've been scouting out hiding places specifically for terrain of ones. I donated my dad's wheelchairs long ago, when he passed. I put a chair on the ground next to to where the cache is hid and reach for it. I think: Can I get it without leaning too far or flipping the chair over? Could I have wheeled here and out of here without help? Most of these are parking lot hides. The thrill of the find is different for each of us. Some people need a hard hike to make it worth it and others have to load out of the van, wheel over, catch their breath and _hope_ its rated correctly, to have a smile (and a smiley). CiC
  19. What are the "difficulty" ratings of the caches you are searching for? Are you looking for a 50 cal ammo box or a 35 mm film case. Everyone gets frustrated during the first 50 finds - as well as the next 500. Relax and look. I walked right past an obvious pile of rocks on two occasions only to find it within seconds of my third visit. Welcome to the club!

    Travel

There are many discussions already. Search for "travel along a route" For my journey, I ran pocket queries centering on cities that I would be travelling through and then used GSAK to create a table that I imported in Microsoft streets and Trips to see them on a map. There are other ways too. Good luck CiC

    Cover Required

I've a metal ruler, if you need it. I stole it from a nun. oops
  22. I wrote 16 essays. To whos attention do I send it to, for grading?
  23. I put a metal pin (okemo ski area) through the top of my orange knit hat (it is huntin' season ya know - or almost anyway) and stick the nilsson antenna magnet on that. My head isn't flat but it is big (oh god what did I jsut say). Hmmm would a metal graduation hat (patent pending) work?
  24. This bug (TBJKPV) lists 22,259 total miles of which at least 10,500 I drove. I didn't track the miles driven for the new england states, which was done separately from the trek around the country. I think total cost was between 5 and 6 grand (gas, hotels, airfare, food...) Not bad for a two month vacation, really.
  25. I've been caching for just over 7 months. I did all 50 states it in just over 3 months. If you take out the month lost while my car was in the shop it was really fast Your caches were very good compared to the 'easy' ones in the southeastern WV that stumped me. Thanks!!!
