  1. I have 'Ole Yeller, and it has version 2.14 installed software (no WAAS...I think) . Is there an update to make it compatible? I traded for the unit...downloaded the manual and it says it has WAAS, but I am unable to turn it on. Thanks!
  2. I want to download waypoints from the site to my Etrex....I know I have seen a "how to" about somehwere.....any ideas?
  3. Someone offered it as a trade and I was trying to find info as I had never heard of it either.
  4. Errr.....that's supposed to read Etrex III. Is it under a different alias?
  5. Where is the cheapest place to buy the etrex legend....not C?? Physical store as well as web?
  6. I just logged a dnf, and considered the fact that the icon is a sad face. I had a hard time submitting because the hunt was such a great time that finding the last leg of the multi would only have been the pickle of an otherwise delicious cheeseburger! A smirk, huh, or sideways smile would be much more appropriate. How's that for petty, useless, and pointless complaining?
  7. Unless that consideration is for Christians in today's age in today's media. As for presuming to know what you think...I will take what you say as truth, but you are in the minority. Schools teach Islam, but oust Christianity every day. And again for what it is worth, I agree that you should not be ashamed, nor did I imply that you should have been. Your consideration is admired, but I would wonder, personally, why everyone else should not be considerate of my beliefs if I am to be considerate of theirs?
  8. It is completely disheartening that the world of political correctness has so encroached upon our senses that one would even feel the need to ask such a question. I wonder if she/he would have felt the same need had it been of another religion??? I would think not. For what it's worth, I am not christian, but I am American, and I sincerely hope the values our country was founded upon do not go the way of the dinosaurs.
  9. You can do a keyword search by going to the hide and seek link on the left side of the page. However it will only search titles and searchs the whole country not just one area. It would be awesome to be able to search descriptions.... I have been asking for this since I joined. Good luck! Seems simple enough, but.... In the mean time....you can find the park on the geocaching map and identify all caches in the area if you already know where the park is. To locate the map go to hide and seek and type in the zip code of the parks location. When the list comes up, click one, then scroll down until you see the link for geocaching maps. Navigate the map until you find the park and you will see icons of caches in the area.
  10. JohnX I took the liberty ( Ihope you don't mind) of copying/pasting your post here as a note on that cache's page.
  11. JohnX is right on!! I would feel obligated to tell the guy what I thought if he came up to me in a park, but I would NEVER offend him or his property. Paints a bad light on us all. Keep on Cachin'!
  12. While I agree that pooch owners need to be responsible, I doubt that most of the mess your delicate child runs into is from geocachers so much as maybe feral run abouts or other irresponsible owners. Most cachers I have met are eco-centric and extremely conscientious as to what they leave behind. Yes, I know there are exceptions, but that hardly warrants fussing at us humble dog owning cachers that love to take 'ole Yellar out huntin'. Come to think of it, most of the poo my nine-year-old-wouldn't think of complaining about gettin' a little nature on her-Geocaching queen- daughter gets on her is from deer and such.
  13. While agree with you all that the hunt, the experience, and the memories are the primary joy from this game, I think you missed the point of the question. I was hoping to read some fun, interesting stories of cool finds (a GPSr is cool....coins are cool). So come on....give us what you found! Happy Huntin!
  14. Seems I am not the only one interested in this idea. I should have been more specific however....go figure. What I want is to be able to do a keyword and/or exact match with-in a certain radius of a given point...... Searching the description would awesome! The search tool in place is very limited. I do not care about the word Pisgah in Virginia....only Oregon....and 20 miles from home. I am glad to see this is in the works....thanks for the info....or is it?
  15. How hard could it be to have a keyword search as part of the search tool??? Or PQ's??? Seems like it should be a standard issue item.
  16. I love geocaching with my daughter, and she enjoys some of the McToys we find. However, at times I would like to make trades for more adult oriented content. I'm not talking about THAT kind of adult oriented either. So the idea would be to designate an icon much like a multi or mystery or virtual cache icon that would indicate that the contents of the cache were assembled with adults in mind.....and that is searchable on the geocaching map. I know I know....beggars and choosers. Bottom line is I still love it!
  17. I just want to know if I will be able to download waypoints from Groundspeak to the Legend if I purchase it. Thanks in advance for the help folks! I always go to the experts :-)
  18. Bug and snake... I want to find caches on golf courses (if any) in my area....not the whole world. Sifting through the 500 or so in a 25 mile radius is not appealing. The best way to do this would be to apply a keyword filter to a radius search I would think. I could then combine my two fav pass times! I also thought it would be a great place to put caches to "promote" my favorite holes btw...what is the "appropriate" forum?
  19. I would love to do a keyword search in a given area (25 mile radius of home) etc. Any chance of that happening? T-Bone!
