  1. Geocaching gets me out in the woods, where I can take the time to slow down, and focus on the small things in the world around me. I get to see the things around me I don't often, in a hurried world, take the time to see, hear, smell, or experience. In short it is my sanity time!
  2. I have an asus FT300T tablet. I use it all the time for caching! I use an app called cachesense, it allows me to find both geocache, and the "M" word things from the same app. I have a MIFI unit that allows connection to the internet, to log my finds. I agree it is large, cumbersome, and somewhat fragile. With a little care though I get along just fine, in town and in the field. I have noticed the compas is not always the most accurate, so I carry my Garmin as well.
  3. I don't believe it happens, but I could imagine an issue, if the reviewer also had a caching account, and then used the information in the mystery cache to get a find on the puzzle, using the privledged info? I don't see even that as much of an issue, unless they claimed an FTF or something?
  4. All the comments about syntax aside. I do not see anywhere that says you must bring an item to attend. The description sounds like the focus is on Geocaching, and fellowship, some good food, and if you wish to donate an item you may. My question would be why not?
  5. The way several of my cache hides have moved around, sometimes even I don't "know" where it is, and I have to find it to do a maintenance. I don't log a find, but it does feel like "I Found IT!!" sometimes
  6. After you cut the 1" ring you will need to use a piece of wood cut into a wedge to press into the gap to open the ring up, to make it tight inside the outer ring. Leave the wedge in to hold it while the glue dries.
  7. >> They had put what looked like chocolate pudding in th diaper They did, or the baby did? I am not sure, and I was not about to check to find out!!
  8. The worst one I have found was a huggies diaper, that the CO put a small salve jar through a hole. They had put what looked like chocolate pudding in the diaper and rolled it up, and threw it in a pile of trash, along the freeway! I found this one when I was starting caching, and had just heard all about how much caching was, about cleaning up our environment! WOW what a first impression!!!!
  9. Also be aware of the guidelines, that state making a hole below ground to place the cache and not in an existing depression might be considered a buried cache.
  10. The problem with (It's OK if you use a pre existing hole) is many cachers keep streatching that until there are Dificulty 4 caches put out that are buried caches. Examples9 PVC tube pushed into the ground with a bison tube down it, then covered by dirt (Buried) or a sprinkler valve box is placed into the ground(hole dug) and covered by leaf litter ( again buried). Needless to say any inch given turns into a mile taken. I would suggest "If it is pushed into the ground at all, it is burried"
  11. It will work for you. It is similar to any phone with a GPS app in it. It is based on Windows Mobile 2003, and there is not much support or apps for that platform. I would suggest either an IPhone or Android phone with a GPS app as a better way to go. If you want more accuracy though, I would suggest a dedicated GPS unit. Good luck in your search
  12. I saw an article today that was posted on Feb 15th. The headline was "FCC bans LightSquared over GPS interference" In essence it stated the FCC put the whole idea on hold indefinitely, and the CEO resigned today. It looks like maybe this is truly the end of our worries!!!! The link to the story is: http://money.cnn.com/2012/02/15/technology/lightsquared_gps/index.htm?iid=EAL
  13. This is my version from Soxter's plans. I am setting it up to be published sometime in January 2012, in the Minnesota area. I have a CNC machine so it was not too hard to build. I used colors instead of letters. The colors will represent numbers. I will provide the number combo, and the cacher will have to look up the correct color chart to translate from numbers to colors.
  14. Now we need to know what Kitty-Corner means tooooo?
  15. The way I do it. Use GSAK. Run a search filter and under the Dates tab, select last update GPX and Set it "equal to", and set the date for the last GPX date of the pocket query you want to remove. Then select delete the waypoints in the filter only. That will leave the caches you want. Then you can resend to your GPS unit.
  16. What other site?? I have had 2 days in a row when 2 of my queries say the ran, I even get an email saying they are available, but when I go to get them they are not there. I have been using these same queries for over a year with no problems. you can't possibly tell me you have no clue about the Feedback site http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/2065945-pocket-query-problems?ref=title I most certainly do! I have submitted a request there, but there is no response!! I thought there might be some other site being referred to.

  18. I have been using the same pocket queries for over a year now with no problems. Today I ran 5 of them, and the date is bold and shows they ran. I received an email notification that the files were available for download even. When I look in the tab for the files 3 of the 5 show up, but the other 2 are not there. That was over 2 hours ago, and they are still not there. Any suggestions?
  19. I found if I disabled the Grease Monkey scripts, that I had installed I could then log the finds ok. One of the scripts were interfering with the log screen. I am using Firefox, and the new site updates I think have broken all the Grease Monkey scripts. Oh well just have to wait for script updates/ fixes.
