  1. I have been using a mio 350 for some years now as i like to use Memory map and i already have the whole of the country at 1:50 and 1:25.000

The thing i like about the Mio, is the ordnance survey maps and the size of the screen 74mm x 55mm or 3" X 2" for those of us with longer teeth

What i don't like about it, is that i have to run cachmate alongside Memory map for descriptions etc.

    So what would you recommend?

I have looked at the Satmap, but at £280 per region for 1:25000 i think it's a rip off...

Let the recommendations begin ........... B)

Garmin Montana gets my vote. But you're gonna have to buy your maps all over again! As you would with the Satmap.

The only way to utilise your current significant investment in maps is to stay with a Memory Map product, either go down the Adventurer route - I can't help with any experience of said units though - the paperless geocaching side would need some investigation on that platform OR opt for a smartphone that runs Memory Map, such as an iPhone with GPS.

What aspect of Cachemate are you not liking?

    Jon.

The fact that i have not sussed out the one click for cachemate to come up, and that on more than one occasion memory map decides that i am "trying to open a file past it's end date"

    Which is a real pain!

I have been thinking the same Terry but you have to for go spoiler pics plus the added cost of maps.Think i will wait until my 60csx dies !

  2. Same in Germany ...

Not really astonishing - when with every listing, that is downloaded, up to thousands of useless (!) user icon images are now sent over... Even when the site is quicker, this is a mess being outdoor...

Totally agree . Why do we need all those graphics ???

  3. We've had a few encounters whilst caching in Florida, the funniest being during the Easy Series when Mr H peered around the back of a tree coming face to face with a Florida Black Racer. Both him and the snake jumped out their skins and shot off in opposite directions like something out of a cartoon!

Also, whilst out there we were fortunate enough to get close enough to a rather angry Cottonmouth for a cracking photo! It was taken at the now archived Conservazen cache...

I encountered a lot of slippery snakes until a certain family emigrated to Austrailia !!

  4. :(

After a good few years service, my Mio P550 has decided it does not want to play anymore:mad: i like the 550 as i run cachemate MM and Tom Tom all from the same machine.

I have managed to crack the screen and it has got wet!

Now the question is.................well there is more than one actually :)

1/ do i just send it off and get it repaired, if so where do i send it?

2/ Do i just buy another P550, as it's what i am used to, and i have all the holders and leads etc

3/ Is it time to upgrade to a newer model, but whats the differences in the mios between the 360 the 560 the 702.

    4/ Is there something better?

    Thanks

    Terry

Since I got my Oregon I've ditched the pda for everything except remote wifi and games.

The Oregon works perfectly in all weathers, the batteries last all day (and they're AA's so it's nothing to carry spares), and apart from the lack of postcode search and an irritating voice road use with TT's freeby maps has so far been as good as TomTom.

Tim can you view spoiler pics on the Oregon ?
