  1. Do you have the link for the travel bug in the picture? It would be interesting to see what happened to it. Here you go: Phoenix Lizard I cleaned up the tag and snail mailed it back to the owner. Bug owner came up with a clever idea for a rebirth and sent it back out. To bad the bug only made it as far as Spokane before it disapered. The ammo can got tossed into my dumpster.
  2. Here's a victim of last years School Fire. Trust me, it don't smell very good when that rubber seal burns! With the current Columbia Complex Fire, I figure I have at least one ammo can that's toast and possibly a second one containing a Green Jeep.
  3. Is there any online stores that sell replacement screens or cover plates for the 60cs? Mine has a crack in it. The LCD is fine. Looked the unit over and I can do the replacement work myself. Thanks.
  4. They don't work to well in rock piles......
  5. I placed mine in GCNTYC. On top of a ridge only 1.15 miles uphill from the trailhead.
  6. After several cachers enquired about the mountains near where I live, I put this list together as a guide: Blue Mountains South of Dayton
  7. I placed an ammo can in a stump 5 days before the School Canyon fire hit. I can still remember hearing the dry pine needles crunching under my feet thinking all it will take is one little spark to set this whole thing off. Down power line was the cause. Here is a picture of the cache area burning. More pictures can be found HERE. Went back a few weeks later to look for the remains but all I found was a big hole where the stump used to be. Poked around but could not find the can. Here's my log from another nearby cache that I checked on for the owner. Tucannon 7 Log
  8. Those are my favorites. Can't beat a nice hike with a great view and a smiley to show for it. Much more enjoyable than a park and grab.
  9. LOL! I was thinking the same thing when I read that TB listing.

    Your Ride

2006 Kia Rio5 with black Geocaching.com license plate frames. Here's a promo photo I grabbed off the net (same color as mine). Mine is all dirty from caching along Eastern Washington's back roads.
  11. I can now go and put a check mark on THIS CACHE and save $5. Lewis & Clark Trail is 2 miles from my house. I can now "drive" in to the park and not park 1/4 mile away to avoid the fee!
  12. Have not heard one "pop" yet. On a cache I found in Idaho, I had the lid blow open when I released the latch with a loud gush of air. Scared the you know what out of me!
  13. PalmIIIxe with Cache Mate. I use the Cache Mate converter to get the GPX file in to the pda. Havn't tried the GSAK converter yet.
  14. Hasn't even began to get cold yet. I'll take the cold over our 90-100° summers anyday. One big cold weather advantage: less muggles.
  15. I always take a picture of the cache and post it with the log when I come across one like that. The broken jar cache posted above is an example. I'll say this cache needs a welfare check and this is the condition I found it in. If I have a spare bag, then I'll try to repackage it.
  16. How about a glass jar hidden in a pile of rocks? Yup, the jar was broken and the contents were soaked when I uncovered it.
  17. I use both Rustoleum and Krylon. You can also find the camo paints at some local hardware stores, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Bi-Mart (Washington & Oregon), and just about anywhere else that sells spray paint.
  18. I use epinions.com to compare prices. Enter your zip code to get shipping rates and sales tax (if applicable). I used this site to get the best price with free shipping on my map60cs. User reviews can be flakey at times so take them with a grain of salt.
  19. Don't forget that other dirtbag just up north of Cd'A and what he did to his daughter.... Dirtbag is to nice of a name for those monsters.
  20. Hmmm lets see, shall I invest my vacation money on this chain letter and get rich quick instead of blowing it on a caching trip?
  21. Check out this road sign. It's amazing someone hasn't hidden something here untill now.
  22. Just make sure what ever you are attaching the cache to isn't to rusty. I found that out the hard way last week on what I thought was going to be a great hide. Magnet was plenty strong, but all the rust wasn't. Here's the FTF log.
  23. I have 3 caches up on my hillside pasture which sits back behind my home. No problems so far. The main thing I ask is to secure the gate so the livestock don't escape. I do mention on the cache pages that this is property that I own. If I'm home and not busy, I'll go up to the parking area to greet them and see how they did and if there was any problems finding the caches. Response for the greeting has always been positive. One cacher even gave me a yellow jeep tb to show his appreciation!
