  1. Never found anything myself, but a cacher around these parts found what he thought was the cache, a film container. He opened it up and instead of a log, he found a crackpipe. Not a fun find
  2. There are a few caches in the cultus lake campground that i know of, and chilliwack is chock full of caches. Never really have a chance to do a lot of caching there, but you shouldn't have trouble finding ones to find. BC Tripper
  3. Let me just say this. This cache has NEVER been a TB prison, and for someone to arbitrarily list it as such is pathetic. I've been to this cache many times to drop/trade/take a TB and there's never been bugs that "languish" there for long. Maybe a few weeks at most, which isn't very long. The cache owner has never had a problem with swaps that I've heard of either. I'll agree with the sentiment that geocaching is supposed to be fun so if that "fun" includes only taking 6 out of 7 TB's and leaving one for someone else, why not do it? Especially in a high traffic cache like this one, it means the bug will be there for a few more days. So what? Also, I'd say that in the nature of "fun" no one should be able to list other people's caches as "prisons" and bookmark them for the entire community to see without any first hand knowledge. THAT is a joke. BC Tripper
  4. I'd say that I'm with the herd on this one. I pretty much take them whenever they're in a cache, but I never leave anything in return unless it's another bug. But I also wont take anything from a cache in trade for a TB. That being said, I don't think I could conscientiously clear out an entire TB hotel in one swoop. BC Tripper
  5. Hi guys! Just packing up the truck and readying the gear. See y'all at 20 Mile! BC Tripper
  6. Hi Zuuk, Yep, there is my cache @ Sloquet and one at Wood Lake called "An Artists View". We plan to place a cache at Doctor's Point should we find the petroglyphs, and then we will continue up to Skookumchuck Hot Springs where there is an Earthcache that has yet to be logged. Then we continue on up the In-shuck-in FSR to Pemberton and back to Vancouver (at least for me) I've got several caches flagged in whistler/squamish along the 99 for on the way back. Also, we're gonna attempt your "gnullify" cache on the way out from Burnaby. My car is leaving rather late on Friday night, but you might contact Deneye as he's coming up as well. I will say though that I only have a stock Jimmy 4x4 and we've been up to the springs a few times. I wonder what the difference in clearence is on our vehicles because we didn't even have any "close calls"... BC Tripper
  7. The intention is to place a cache somewhere in the vicinty yes. I've got a replacement cache that's ready to go for sloquet, but not one for the glyphs yet. I think it would be a neat idea to place a cache there so by all means, bring the pail BTW. I've got to replace the Sloquet cache, but when I do, you guys will get that FTF as well . So you know, we'll be the truckload that arrives via a black Jimmy 4x4. (not that its likel;y anyone else will show up at 3am )
  8. That sounds great. We're hoping to have at least one other truck with us, but we'll see. As far as the road conditions go, we made it up to Port Douglas in November, and were at Sloquet on January 1 this year. There was a small wash out close to the logging camp, but it wasn't a bridge and we didn't even need the 4low to get by. I myself have never been up to the Skookumchuck springs, and I'm not familiar with the road past that point. However, one muggle who might come with us has been recently. We've asked him and the road seems to be ok. The Squamish Forest district website indicates that the road is passable, with only minor rockfall at the 1km mark coming from Pemberton. FYI, it's called the In-Shuck-In FSR if you want to take a look at their sight. And yes, I agree with you that the best way out is up Weather forcast for Pemberton, Agassiz, and Squamish is in the clear. Although its going to be a cold one. Nighttime low is estimated -9 for one of the days. I've got absolutely no info on the petroglyph at all However it's in the Southwestern BC Backroad Mapbook at about the 50-55km mark. There's a red star on the map at roughly Doctor's point. That's the best I can do for now, I'm contacting one of my archaeology proffesors to see if he has more info. I'll keep you posted. BC Tripper
  9. Chances are that we'll be out of bed at 8ish, have breakfast, then head to Doctor's Point where the petroglyph is located. I've never seen it myself, and have no idea where the access is etc. However I would most likely spend an hour or so looking for it once in the area. Assuming we find it, we'd have lunch there, then head straight for the springs. I would estimate our arrival at 3ish at the latest. Also, we'd be past the Wood Lake cache (Artist's View) by the time we hit 20mile bay for the night, so if you wanted to look for that cache you'd have to do it either before the rendezvous, or on our way back from the springs. Hope you can make it! BC Tripper
  10. We'll probably be at 20 Mile by 3ish So you could join us for an early breakfast if you wanted The "we" is myself, the cheebz, a half muggle as well as my dog. Perhaps a few other muggle types as well if we can, we'd like to make a convoy. The hook to this trip is we'll all get to log FTF's on the skookumchuck hot springs earth cache. BC Tripper
  11. Nope, we're actually leaving at midnight as one of our fellow cachers finishs work at about that time BC Tripper
  12. Hi all! I just thought that I would post a little note here and let BC geocachers know that this weekend we will be embarking on a caching expedition. Stops will include Kaiyama petroglyph, Sloquet Hot Springs and Skookumchuck Hotsprings. There is also a cache at Wood Lake on the way that I've done, but would gladly do again. We're located in Vancouver so if anyone around town would like to join us, let me know! Itenerary: Friday: 12:00am - leave vancouver - camp @ 20 mile bay on Harrison Lake Saturday: Wood Lake, Kaiyama Petroglyph & Sloquet Hot springs - camp @ sloquet Sunday - Skookumchuck Hot Springs & return to Vancouver. 13. If you are close to this coordinate line (N, S, E or W) , would you help me with the "Where's in a name?" cache? We can both log it as a find, all you have to do is take a picture at the line with your GPS! Cities close to this line are : Havana, Cuba Athens, Greece Ahmenabad, India Contact me through geocaching.com, my profile name is.... BC Tripper
  14. You might try in the Canada forum, that line runs very close to Prince George British Columbia, and we are all very active cachers here Good luck! BC Tripper
  15. Hi there! I am a fellow geocacher from British Columbia, Canada, and I am trying to complete a locationless cache called "What's in a name?". For this cache I have to 1) convert my geocaching name to numbers to find a coordinate; 2) find the cities that cross over that coordinate line; 3) contact another geocacher to take a picture of that coordinate, w/ their GPSr in hand. If anyone is interested in taking a picture for me at 23° 27.47, anywhere in Bulgaria, please let me know! I've done a brief search and it seems like this line runs through Sofia. WE BOTH CAN LOG THIS AS A FIND! Thanks & Happy Caching

  17. It is really sad, but unfortunately its our reality too. Its great to see that there are places out there who offer this service. Kudos to them! BC Tripper
  18. WOW! I just had a chance to sit down and watch the e-zine with my family. Can I just say that you did a fabulous job, and I am incredibley flattered! There's lots and lots of great shots, and I couldn't help but smile the whole way through. Thank you so much, it was truly a hoot to watch. Now my family finally understands what I've been babbling about for the last three months. I'm glad you enjoyed the series! BC Tripper
  19. Thanks for posting this information! It was my cache that you logged it in, and I've swung by to check for hypos. None in the area, but I can think of at least a dozen caches that have had this problem before. Cheers! BC Tripper
  20. Vest Pocket Parks is a great multi, and if you decide to do it, there are two "quick" caches in Vanier Park you could grab while collecting on of VPP's hints. They are Sefarer and Music Box and neither are micros. BC Tripper
  21. That sounds like a great idea, but don't you have to be a premium member to make a bookmark list? Maybe this is my (subtle) hint to upgrade my membership... BC Tripper
  22. I contact the Stargate team sometime ago with regard to setting up one in Vancouver, BC. Apparently, I'm too close to a gate already, although it's in the states... BC Tripper
  23. Recently, I've been doing a lot of camping / caching adventures in the lower mainland. However, in lots of cases this has involved a lot of searching on the GC site to find caches around where we're camping. Is there any series out there that has caches linked to campgrounds etc.? Or any cache list that mentions it will require an overnight stay etc.? BC Tripper
  24. Thanks to you mtn-man, if anyone was patient, it was you BC Tripper
  25. You're tellin me! I've been waiting too, there was lots of kinks, but they are no more! Enjoy everyone! BC Tripper
