  1. I am glad to hear that you did a follow up, and I look forward to your participation.
  2. Yakima II machine is March 29 2008 Tri-Cities II machine is tentatively September 2009 No listing for Yakima that am aware of, and Tri-cities is too far out to get an event published, so no listing for that either.
  3. Well....not sure what to tell ya Ray. I guess you can't do em all. I thought I was polite, and tried to explain things in a descent manner, including the regret that Dick and I have, that this is the way it is, and not the way we wanted it to begin with. $30 for a year or $3 for a month membership to complete this challenge, is a mere fraction of the cost it would be for all the fuel to motor around the county that you planned on spending to complete the challenge to begin with. Sorry that you feel so upset about it, and sorry you won't be able to participate. I myself, would feel compelled to do a follow up with Groundspeak. I am not sure about your problem either, I have been able to make Bookmark Lists as well, as recently as 15 minutes ago. I really hope that you can get this resolved, so you can participate in the challenge. The good thing is, The KCC will be here. Definitely try to get a hold of Groundspeak to do a follow up.
  4. As W7WT mentioned, we are trying to work this challenge in a way that is as easy to do as possible for everyone, and one of the important things that we wanted, was to have all members, paid or not, to be able to participate. Unfortunately that does not appear to be the case. In order to complete this challenge, a public Bookmark List is required, and we can't veer from that, so anyone that is not a paid "premium" member will not be able to do so. If you would like to participate in this upcoming challenge, and you are not a paid premium member, you can go to here to change that, and participate. As said by both W7WT and I, this is not what we were wanting, but this is the way it is. I apologize and hope that this doesn't hold too many people back from this challenge.
  5. Oops...a Dup! dang internet!
  6. I know this is the NW forum, including Wyoming, but also try here Wyoming's Geocaching Group. It is a little more local to what you are looking for. Good Luck!
  7. I agree with Jester, a 4 star on the terrain sounds about right. A 3.5 may get it if your lucky(Ya don't want anyone hurt after all), but I would still go with a 4. As I understand it, a 5 star requires the use of special equipment to access the area of a cache, so base your decision on that. If you say that a walking stick is a must, debate whether or not that is "special equipment" and go from there. I personally would think of a walking stick as an "accessory", not "special equipment", Depending on the cache, but that is me and I haven't seen the terrain for myself, therefore, this is all blind guesses and see (if you can ) my disclaimer of liability at the lowest portion of this post.
  8. Thank you! No problem with the questions...ask away! After deliberating on this, Dick and I have agreed that a find is a find, no matter when it was found. The point of this challenge is simplicity for everyone....Dick, I, and most importantly, the participants of the challenge. I know several cachers, that overtime have found ALOT of the caches in the county, myself included, and yes, they will be able to complete the challenge right away, but they will always have the choice to start it from scratch, meaning using only finds after the challenge is published, to give themselves a bit of a "challenge". I really hate to discount finds by someone who has been there done that before. This is still an area that I am thinking about though, so it may not be in stone Hi Molly, hope I can answer the ones that the CWO, didn't. 1. In theory, yes. But that wouldn't be too much fun would it? Keep in mind, that we are still in the process, and rules/regulations are subject to change before the actual publication of the challenge. Don't go and cache out all the maps, just in case....I may decide it is best to put a date restriction on this challenge...not sure yet. Gotta weight the options, and still keep this challenge as easy as possible. 4. I assume (I hate doing that!), that by "Time Limit', you are speaking of, finishing the challenge? If that is the case, the answer is no. You are free to take your time to complete it. Nobody is in a hurry here. No need to rush.
  9. I'd still vote for Yakima. I'm not going to get them all either place, anyway. Yakima is fine by me too, doesn't matter to me either way, just seems that since the tri-cities are a little bit farther away, and would include less machine drive time to get probably twice the amount of caches, is not a bad option. It's Travis' thing, and I am game either way. If nothing else, MtnGoat50 gave Snookie and I an idea as to where we can go cachin' some three day weekend.
  10. HOLY CARP!!!! I'm in for another 45 minutes to an hour drive to hit up the Tri-Cities instead of Yakima. I have a few found from there due to work trips, but not a dent compared to that map.
  11. Thanks Dick. I was arbitrarily throwing a number out there. Change that example to Map #XXX.
  12. Your Welcome and you are correct in your gathering. The Map #'s will be what is used. There are two pages per map as you look at the guide. Example: Map# 500 covers two pages..a left and a right page. To claim that map# you will need to find a cache on either the left page of map #500 or the right page of map #500. You will not need to find a cache on both the left and right page, just one or the other.
  13. You could have been waiting at his rig, with Hot Frito Pies for him when he got back.
  14. Thanks for the inquiry Ray. Hope I can answer your questions. RE: Q1. You will have to wait and see Q2. You will have to wait and see Q3. Map 533: Also has a portion of Bainbridge Island on it. Look at the left page of that map number. Map 453: Also Includes the Kingston area. Look at the left page of that map number. Map 500: It has land on it between the Hood Canal and Sub-Base Bangor. Look at the right page of that map number. Q4. The Projected date of this challenge being in affect: You will have to wait and see. The reward for completing this challenge: Self Pride that you did so....and a smilie Q5. We have it under control, but thanks for your inquiry. Q6. Nope. Q7. Nope. Hope I was able to answer all of your questions, And happy cachin'!
  15. Thanks for the update Harriet!
  16. The only cruise I was on, was via the USS Carl Vinson in 89-90 , just doesn't seem to have the "fun" factor as the Jungle Book Cruise .
  17. Nope! No problems here Val, and I use the 60CSx. As a matter of fact, the last several days, I have been getting a lock here inside the downstairs of the house, and pretty quickly at that. Maybe Brian broke into your gizmo when you weren't looking and clipped the antenna, so he could get the caches before you.
  18. I have visitation with my two daughters every other weekend, so there is no flip of the coin here. Either I can do it or I can't. Its a 50/50 thing, when an event is posted. I have missed plenty of events due to events conflicting with visitation. I am good to go which ever way. Either I get the chance to attend an event/cache with Snookie74/spend time with her or, I get the bonus time with my daughters, and not attend an event. It all works out A OK for me
  19. I am not not familiar with the King County Thomas Guide, so help me understand this page not gonna be included thing. Is there a page that is in the Thomas guide, but doesn't seem like a spot that could house a cache, due to terrain or private property? I have a page here in Kitsap county, that has about 250-300 feet of what seems, in my research, as private property within a page....the rest is in King County, so it will be excluded. I am not sure why Thomas even included it, to be honest.
  20. The weekend of the 21st is looking better for us. It is more likely we can make the trip out to Missoula that weekend.
  21. Easy Now! Lets not over do the exuberance! It's just an event after all!
  22. Good luck getting McNeil Island checked off the list. Albeit a couple years ago, when I was working on the expansion of the new North Prison, the only way to get over there was to go through Security, including background checks, at Steilicoom, and ride the tug pushed barge over. Unless there is a way to get there I am not aware of for general public travel, that Thomas Map would have to be excluded from the challenge.
