  1. Gotta say it was a cacher signing a blank log, left me horrified.
  2. This is normal, once the hard core cachers and those that live near by find it whats left are those who happen to be in the area. It could also be because fewer caches are found in winter. Navicache.com is the only one that comes to mind, its also the only site where all the caches I've listed have yet to be found. (there's terracaching.com but you have to login). IMO Geocaching.com is the best of them. Yes its more obvious now then when it was created that it is indeed a business. But that aint a bad thing, just compare it to navicache. If you note in the left column I'm a "Geocacher" meaning I have the free account (and wow, the only one in this thread) I've found over 800 caches. "premium only" caches don't stop me from finding them. ether by triangulating them myself or by going out with a premiumy. Nor do they offer more security because there's the same chance that someone will stumble onto it (or from those few destructive "cachers"). Im told you can actual see who views your cache page, which is a nice feature. Do they actual own the content? They own the site but data added is control by the placer with Groundspeak regulating it. And should they abuse control the popularity of alternate sites will go up along with their viability. But not my money
  3. Put on a scratch shield, they generally cover it up nicely. This one is popular.
  4. Rolling stops kill, driving and riding responsible helps save lives!
  5. Had the same problem, It needed to be updated which took about half an hour to figure out. Cant recall what I did though.
  6. Not that I know of but you can reduce map detail so the zoom level your at shows fewer contours. This can be done by pressing menu on the map page, then map setup.
  7. The owner appears to be you. Its trackable here http://geocoins.ca/home.php
  8. If you have the funds available I'd think about exchanging the 60 for an Astro. Its the same thing except has a three axis electronic compass, can track your dog and looks much cooler.
  9. Well with lots of ego I'm certainly the sexiest cacher around However maybe these two might be the best lookers out there. (I'm sure sandra and thorsten agree so the contest is over )
  10. I georesolve to: Get every icon possible for placing a cache. And find more caches (40ish) than hollyburn whom I almost always cache with.
  11. Visit every country in the world +Antarctica. Circumnavigate the world on a tallship. Retire. Marry someone who made it to the top 10 most beautiful women in the world list. Win this cointest. I already have using sat photos. He's on top of a building in Vancouver.
  12. Its on hold but the fella is procrastinating.
  13. Yes there are free maps. And a quick google search reveals this site http://www.magicmaps.ca/
  14. Basemaps are meant to be used only as a crude reference at a far out zoom. (to tell you what city your in not what road your on) Solution is to buy road/topo maps (ibycus has made free ones)
  15. Well my original entry won so... Kejimkujik is the only inland national park of Canada in the Maritimes. (and a great place to visit) knock-knock! whose there? Interrupting cow. Interrupting co..MOOOOOO!!!
  16. Its the "Vista" and whats included has been listed. Lookes like the 60cx is being sold for $205
  17. Ive always wanted a real peace of coal in my stocking. But I guess I'd have to start being a bad boy. 42 is always a good guess. Merry Christmas
  18. Just downloaded v2.1 to replace an old version which I uninstalled. Upon trying to open mapsource I get an error saying to reinstall. So I look through the registry and find the old version was still there, delete it and everything works (and boy is there a lot more regions done). I hope your v2.1 uninstall removes its registry files, else non tech savvy people will go crazy.
  19. Actually both arguments are bogus Lets see If I can briefly fix it up a bit. This is totally bogus argument. The first commercial GPS was available in 1982 and the first commercial was available in 1984. commercial cell phone and usage didn't really take off until the late 90's: commercial handhelds didn't really take off until 2001 (when selective availibility was turned off)Mobile phone usage No graph but divide the millions in half and it would be a generus GPS reprsentation. In addition, with the exception of the receiver portion of the of the gps there is tons of hardware developed for phones and pdas that can be used in a gps ([processors, screens and cameras can found in GPSr], video drivers, etc)
  20. Have a Garmin 60cx, It has no scratches on it. Includes Box, microSD card, Belt clip, USB cable, Wrist strap, manual & guide. Comes with City Navigator North America NT 2008 2009 (Update CD) Would like $280 +shipping. Will sell the Vista for $55 +shipping. Its just the unit (manual is on garmin.com, do have a basic etrex guide I can include.) Actually I may have Metroguide v4/5 in the basement somewhere, if so I'll include it.
