In researching ownership of a spot I'm thinking about putting a cache on, I came across the Kitsap County Assessors Parcel Search site, where they have pan-able, zoom-able maps and aerial photos of the entire county, searchable by address or intersection, with ownership/tax/parcel data linked directly from the imaging. I was able to determine that my potential site is actually the remains of a closed road and is in fact still listed as a road by the county, even though it's basically a greenbelt. At any rate, if you're unsure who owns that cache-less spot of Kitsap land, this is the place to find out. I'm sure other counties have similar systems in place as well. Here's a screenshot of the display of my local neighborhood:

Google Maps will provide them (click the "Satellite" link in the upper right.) There's a few others but I don't have links handy since I use Google and/or USAPhotoMaps.

What you see on that page is the 20 most recent TB logs worldwide - there's probably 50 logs per minute during busy times so it's no surprise that your logs have scrolled off the page by the time you view it again after logging.

Oh, make no mistake, I'm under no illusions that our local roads, signs, or drivers are any better than those drive-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-road folks on the other side of the pond. I could show you a place locally where the speed limit changes three times in 300 feet, and I have a very, very low opinion of local drivers.

I can see the humor. To me it just seems like a very English sort of thing, to have a sign like that. It's like the "Mind The Gap" stuff in the London underground - I got a shirt last time I was there and people here in Seattle find that hilarious.

I realize this is the UK forum, but is that Devil's Lake, North Dakota, USA? If not, there's an amazing similarity between these pics and a friend's property - he used to have a house there but the water has risen over the last 15 years and completely flooded it now. This same sign was down the road a bit and we always had a laugh over it on the way to visit. Looks actually like far too many trees to be North Dakota.

How To Spot A Cacher In The Pub

I grabbed two TBs each from two different caches today specifically to move them along on our weekend trip to a different state. I didn't leave any TBs to replace the ones I took today, but I'll be returning to these two caches as soon as I return, hopefully laden with TBs found on the trip, specifically to replace the 4 I grabbed. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as your logs show that you're not just randomly grabbing everything in sight - you're grabbing them specifically to move them along.

There's a strip about 1Km wide and several long that goes right through a heavily populated area south of Seattle that has no imagery available anywhere that I can find. What gets imaged depends on the orbit of the satellite and a lot of other things, and stuff gets passed over quite often. I'm sure there's others around who can provide details, but yeah, not everything has pictures.

Well done Patudles - looks like it was a great day in a number of ways.

Well, you can do this right now with a relatively simple macro. You'd just need to save some Export to GPX settings to always save the current filter's records to the same GPX file, then have your macro use those saved settings, export the GPX, then RUNPGM to open it in USAPM.
-
Awesome, thanks JDMC. Works as expected for me now.
-
I get the same behavior, mrh - unless the GPX is in the USAPM install folder, the error pops up and the file doesn't get loaded. I worked around the problem with a GSAK macro that dumps all user-flagged records to GPX and opens it directly in USAPM - it just re-uses the same filename every time so I only have the one in that folder.

Ya, maingray's correct - there's no way to delete multiple Address Book entries simultaneously from the Palm itself. The only way to remove them is one-by-one - tap on the entry to open the detail view, tap Edit, tap Details, tap Delete, tap OK. Only 5 taps per deletion! Wheeee!
-
Your location, as read by the Etrex from satellite data, has nothing to do with which waypoint you're tracking or what the waypoint's coordinates are. Think of waypoints as targetted locations - the GPS can lead you to them, but they don't have anything to do with where it says you are right now.

Not sure what the problem might be here... First off, is your Cachemate a registered version or the trial? The latter will only import 10 records at a time, though this doesn't explain why you're only getting 1. I assume you're using the File Menu/Export/Cachemate PDB File... dialog to do the export - this should export every record in your current database view to the PDB file. Be sure you have the "Install to Palm after conversion" box checked; this will insure that what's getting sent to the PDA is the file you're actually exporting. I'm not sure what else to check. Further details about the exact steps you take to send the records to the Palm may be needed.

Clyde/All: if I enter Corrected Coordinates, but don't Lock the record, will the new coordinates be overwritten by incoming GPX files? I've been locking everything when I make any changes, just in case, but am wondering if this is an unnecessary step if I'm only using the CC dialog.

In some public bathrooms where they have the continuous-roll type cloth towel, I've seen warning stickers that say "Do not hang by neck from towel." The scary part is that the warning label wouldn't be there unless someone had done so.

Pre-emptively posting, we're going to Seaside, Oregon, this weekend, for a little R&R. Caching's not the object, though I have several TBs with southbound donations that'll make the trip, so I'll need to find at least a couple in which to drop them off. Mainly, it's going to be hanging out at the ocean, smelling the salt air, throwing a frisbee in the wind and rain, flying kites, and probably drinking more than is strictly necessary... but hey, that's why it's called a vacation. I can't wait.

Gordo paid our bill in cash as well, $25. Well worth it considering the amount of food and company.
