  1. Just been reading a review of Digitals in Dec. 2001 issue of PCPro(Yes I know I'm a bit behind - too busy caching to read all these mags). They rated the Toshiba PDR-M61 as a canny budget buy. It was £199+ vat then, but dunno if it's still available now at and what cost

  2. I don't want to get too commercial here but there may be people looking for a GPS and would consider other peoples views on the products available. So any views on your GPS? If nothing else be interesting to know what everyone else is using. Santa Claus brought me a Garmin Etrex GPS which we have been very pleased with and as it is simple to use it is ideal for me. icon_smile.gif

  4. Had looked at GPS's for a while to help on walks but didn't think the cost was justifiable, especially a couple of years ago. We then read an article by Simon Willis in The Great Outdoors magazine before Christmas detailing geocaching in the UK. Christmas present from the Mrs was then sorted and there is now a different purpose to some of our walks and it gets us out of the house on days when we might not have bothered !!!

  5. What sort of cache do people look for ? I reckon there are folk happy to do a longish walk, say 10 miles, to find one cache, others happy to do a short walk only, possibly with the kids. There are the historical sights and viewpoints and also the puzzles with or without much walking. The quality therefore depends a lot on what you are interested in. In any one area I reckon you need a variety to keep everyone interested and not just a few folk putting out their favourite "type" of cache.

Remember variety is the spice of life, allegedly.

  6. Walker Dan is a character in a cartoon in the Newcastle United fanzine - The Mag. Cartoon strips are often left in some of our caches - we hope they don't offend anyone from Sunderland.

As active walkers we quite liked the double meaning (we are NUFC fans as well).
