  1. quote:Originally posted by Geo Quest: If I'm going to be constantly on the move then I won't apply repellant but if I'm camping then I will apply bug stuff when I stop for the night. Geocaching falls into the "constantly moving" category so I don't use any spray while geocaching. I don't know how fast the bugs are where you're from, but around here you would have to run to avoid them. I can picture it now, me running in circles trying to read/sign the logbook. So yes, bug repellant is a must, the more deet the better.
  2. I guess people are too busy doing other things to even post a reply to your question. With the weather being warmer for us "Northern" folks, we have to get out and do the yard work and other activities we did before geocaching entered our lives. The summer is just too short and there are not enough hours in the day, etc. Hopefully, things will pick up as the summer wears on. Did the same thing happen last year, or is the novelty wearing off?
  3. If the cache is close by and an easy find, then yes I would check on it. Otherwise I would wait for 2 or 3 no-finds.
  4. I read the article this morning and I seriously doubt that using a GPSr for poaching is a widespread activity. 3 metres accuracy? I'm lucky to get 6 or 7 with mine, and I'm not in a boat being tossed around by waves dragging a grappling hook in the dark. The onus is on the legal fisherman to report this type of activity as it is most likely their neighbors that are doing it. None the less, someone will always find a way to use something in an illegal way.
  5. We try to leave a sticker in each logbook which we have recently changed to be similar to our avatar. We also have left a number of beany bears named "Rocky". One has been adopted and is attached to a travel bug and is called Little Brown Bear [This message was edited by Galago on May 26, 2002 at 11:59 AM.]
  6. I've changed the name to "Canada GeoQuilt Project - Halifax". Maybe now we will get more interest. The weather out here seems to have taken a turn for the worse lately. Hopefully the long weekend will see more geocaching activity.

  8. Thanks, reastick. I'm pretty new to this stuff, but that seemed easy enough. It looks great!

  10. Apparently "traditional", doesn't include multi-caches.
  11. My wife gave me my E-trex for Christmas. Been wanting one since they first came on the market. I thought it would be useful on my hunting and fishing trips. Found the link to the geocaching site on Garmin's website. It has provided us with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors together, rather than just me alone.
