If anyone fancies showing us the ropes around the porthmadog area in north wales we'd welcome the company, my other half has been out looking for a cache just down the road from us but with no luck yet, and as soon as my legs better I'll be on the hunt too

Hi everyone, I'm another one, just happened to be watching country file when my attention was caught by geocaching. I'm a keen walker anyway and the thought of actually finding things (I also have a metal detector) really appealed to me so when I checked out the website I was very suprised to find a cache a short walk from where I live. Unfortunatley I have a broken leg at the moment so I haven't had the chance to take a look yet. Of course I'm also going to have to get myself gps receiver, does anyone know if the ones for under fifty quid on e-bay are adequate? Until then is it possible to use a 1:25000 ordanance survey map and compass? Cheers Owen
