  1. The cache must be there somewhere, I can see the log in the background...
  2. Surely we don't ALWAYS need permission. Isn't Public ground public.
  3. Found a fawn (baby) deer in Aspley Woods, right next to the cache. Had to leave and come back the next day. PS Don't touch them.
  4. But there's two of them, so that's only 250.... Well done. Nebias
  5. Isn't it a contraction rather than an abbreviation? Isn't it a contraction rather than an abbreviation? RU NickPicking
  6. No, no not yet, I haven't done them all yet..... Seriously though, couldn't they be adopted.
  7. Many act like 'numbers men' but don't want to admit it Went to a meet recently and many; including myself, were swapping TB numbers so that we could log them later on. Wasn't 'til later that I thought about and decided not to log them. Everybody plays the 'game' differently.
  8. I disagree, strongly. My 'Cancer' cache (GCH967) had no finders (other than a maintenance visit) from January the 31st 2004 to January the 26th 2005. If it's had a maintenance visit, it still active. I myself probably wouldn't try a cache that was inactive for more than 6 months.
  9. Not necessarily. Lots of people will find a cache because they like to find all the caches in a given area, for example, and not necessarily because it's a "good/interesting" cache! If people are happy finding it, then surely it's doing it's job. If people are happy finding it, then surely it's doing it's job.
  10. Wouldn't it be better to flag inactive caches. A cache that is being logged is self maintaining and presumably a good/interesting cache. If a cache were to become inactive after say 6 months, the FTF crowd could then start being the FTA (First To Archive) crowd and tidying up U/S caches into the bargain. This would maintain the good caches and filter out the not so good.
  11. Newbie questions What's the difference between a reviewer and approver ? When did approvers become reviewers and why ? Isn't 'permission to place' a requirement already ? PS Hopefully I'll start answering instead of asking soon
  12. I had a vision of you going out and physically doing each new cache. Now I think about it, not very practical. A thankless task. You deserve twice, no make that three times the money you get.
  13. This may seem a pointed question but it's not. If the onus for a cache is on the setter, what's the point of an approver? What does the approver do ? I've only been caching a few months but have already I have been * Sent into an active cemetery looking for clues. * Found a cache hidden behind a gravestone. * Know of a cache owner who openly admits he didn't acquire permission for his cache.
  14. I gave a non-caching work colleague the details for Masquerade (GCBF82) to see if they could find it; this one is found without the use of a GPS. He recognised a GPS in the hand's of strangers and his kids went straight up to them and said 'Have you found it?', they said 'yes'. Out of interest I looked for their visit log but there wasn't one. Similarly, I have a TB which has been moved between 2 caches but again no logs, but the logbook was updated. Is this usual/common ? PS I know where the TB came from and intend to log the mileage before moving it on. Is this correct ?
  15. Are there any picture of Simply Paul on Anne Diamond.
  16. I'm no expert but as I see it. 60 mins rolls over to 0 mins so the highest you can go is 59.999 hence no 6.
  17. Did Katherine's Cross (GCB938) at the weekend and at the end he/she said "The cache is hidden 15 metres East, North East of this spot." This seems totally logical to me and I can't understand why more cache setters don't do it. Is this classed as cheating or am I missing something? On the same theme, are there any techniques which can help when using a GPS?
  18. If you didn't find the cache, how do you know it was the right location ?
  19. Sadly not, the TAG only has a Westing on it and the cache specifically says keep the TAG moving.
  20. What's an acceptible time to hold onto a TAG? I'm been wtaching one for 2 weeks now with 8 other people. The person has been out caching regularly but not dropped the TB. Being new I don't want to email them ; they may of forgotten about it, but I would like to get hold of the TAG.
  21. To use or not to use, that is the question ? Only started recently, but opening a soggy black bag is not nice especially when it turns out to NOT be a cache, if you know what I mean. www.gagb.... says that caches should not be put in bags. Enlighten me please
  22. Hi, Another MK cacher here, well Lavendon actually but I work in MK. 16th-17th is an Open Day of sorts at Bletchley Park, anyway it's half price to get in. Could be a good time to meet up and do Station X (GC5FF4) at the same time. I might be able to give a lift to none car owners.
  23. Bath Sealant generally sticks to anything. If it'll stick to smooth enamel tiles, it'll stick to most things.
