  1. Google "MM Tracker", there's a free and paid version, gets good reviews...
  2. Alternatively we could have a Visited log which replaces the Found log once you've found it. Forum suggestion here Either way I think it's a good idea...
  3. That's not an honest way of describing things. The first step we have asked in troubleshooting is to see if clearing the cache makes a difference. Beyond that, we have not been able to duplicate this issue in any form, so we have not been able to isolate what might be causing the issue for others. What do you suggest we do then ?
  4. Weekly update This problem doesn't seem to be going away Users have shown the problem to be repeatable. The problem has been seen using XP, XP Pro, Vista and Windows 7. And the following browsers. IE7, IE8, IE9, Chrome, FireFox. For those experiencing the problem, the Official response is to clear you cache... The problem was first discussed October 19th Then again Oct 30th And again Nov 8th
  5. Today I visit this Thread and I get myself AND knowschad with my avatar. So not only are they being scrambled but shared too.
  6. I work in IT too, may I suggest you try turning your PC off then on again. Nebias, you've been warned before - please either contribute constructively here, or else avoid posting. In all seriousness clearing the cache and resetting the PC are tried and tested IT techniques. You have mentioned the cache previously and it made no difference. Resetting the PC hasn't been mentioned before. IT MAY HELP...

  8. I just tried from the office, and I am not able to reproduce the problems that I experienced last night. Still using IE8 here, as well. Everything loads reasonable fast and avatars are right where they are supposed to be. Yeah, it's not consistent. FireFox seems to give fewer problems... I did it in two Tabs. In FireFox there's a 'Refresh All Tabs' button In IE you need to be quick...
  9. My weekly Friday update. Intermittently, img.geocaching.com times out after a few minutes and I get confused avatars. WE are now able to reproduce the error. Open an avatar image in two windows and refresh them both at the same time. I have seen the problem in IE7 AND FireFox.
  10. Tried in the GPS Forum, no interest. Tried contacting GC.com, recvd a lame reply. Can anyone shed some light ? 1. How is the data stored ? 2. Are caches stored in sub-directories in a file strucure or a database like SQLite ? 3. Does it allow off-line maps ? 4. Which maps are available other than Google. OSM, Streemap... 5. Can GPX files be imported ? Are they listed separately ? 6. Can GPX files be exported ? 7. Are MO caches available to Basic Members. Think Trimble did, do they all ? 8. What happens when there is no data signal ? Can anyone compare it to cachebox ?
  11. Try to load an avatar simultaneously in two windows. 9 times out of 10 one will hang. If you leave it to timeout the wrong image or nothing appears. However, if you stop it and Refresh, it works fine. Is there some sort of access time limit ?

  13. If this was an important element of your feature request, it should have been mentioned in your opening post. It was. And this would stop multiple Find logs that are so hard to track down too, excellent. The cache page already knows you've Found the cache so easy to implement. And in the process, you will have irrevocably altered the event attendance habits in large geocaching communities, and the cache finding habits for those who enjoy the remaining grandfathered moving caches, especially a large and active community in Canada. You would also have decided the "refind at owner's discretion after cache is moved" debate. I'm not saying these things are good or bad, just that there will be crowds with pitchforks and torches on Groundspeak's doorstep if the change is implemented. They could be redirected to your place, or to Ambient Skater. Hmmm, something for discussion there...

  15. A Note wouldn't update the last Found date. The cache is therefore more likely to be searched for. The cache will appear on more PQ's as many only request recently found caches. Not all CO's are created equally. Caches aren't always maintained, if at all. A Visit allows the Community to maintain worthy caches. Caches that are found regularly are less of a problem, it's the difficult hides and Puzzle caches of absent CO's that without care may disappear...
  16. Exactly...With Powertrail having caches every 160m, I often do every othe one and get twice as much use out of them...
  17. 1st scenario Often a cache wont be searched for because it's not been found for a while and/or has a couple of DNF's on it. 2nd scenario There are many Holiday caches that are worth a second, third, fourth visit. 3rd scenario A cache with a missing CO is visited and/or maintained. --- A Note posted on a cache doesn't have the same gravitas as a Find or a Maintenance Log. The Last Found date would be updated and therefore appear in more PQ's A Visit would indicate the cache IS available. A Visit would commemorate that holiday visit. A Found cache is still worth a visit for the good of the caching Community. For the Numbers cachers you could get a Visit point, a bit like and Assist in American Football....
  18. Can I be converted ? 1. How is the data stored ? 2. Are caches stored in sub-directories in a file strucure or a database like SQLite ? 3. Does it allow off-line maps ? 4. Which maps are available, Google, OSM, Streemap... 5. Can GPX files be imported ? Are they listed separately ? 6. Can GPX file be exported ? 7. Can Live searches be stored off-line for future use ? 8. Are MO caches available to Basic Members ? 9. Can FieldNotes be uploaded for logging later at Home ? 10. What happens when there is no data sugnal ?
  19. The problems are ONLY being reported for GS sites. There was a Site update at the same time the problems started. Just because the symptoms cannot be replicated internally doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist. Whether the problem is at the User end or Site end. At least accept there IS a problem. I'm using XP Pro, IE7, Avast AV.
  20. Had this happen on one of my cache pages today. So www.geocaching.com is affected too. The file affected was in http://img.geocaching.com/cache/ Hope this helps.
  21. If you don't like cryptic clues I'd suggest you avoid caches by Captain Birds Eye. Had a week off in Norfolk and time was too short so DNF'd many of them... Still a nice walk tho'
  22. I know, I was one who had caches trashed... Just because I'm not PM doesn't mean I don't contribute... I feel the % of PM is defintely detrimental to the pastime. Not my problem tho' as I live and Work in Bucks.
