  1. I'm sorry but this is Geocaching, we are not here to look at some scantly dressed female holding a GPS, if this is what GeoOlympix has to stoop to, to gain credibility, you have lost any you had. Not attending this event on the grounds of morals!
  2. You know, as I have not properly cached for a year, I'm not sure how it would display caches, but here are a couple of MIO PDA on eBay as we speak P550 on ebay P350 on ebay
  3. Also works on the far superior and safer Dragon browser ;-) Dragon is Chrome based, but has better security, especially when you use the Secure DNS servers
  4. Take the iPhone back, tell them it does not have multitasking as stated in it's spec, and buy an Android
  5. I'd just let them waste their time, why worry, the only thing which is affected is their electricity bill.
  6. Firstly all repairs are subject to Consumer protection, so claim your cash back, sounds like you have a strong case. Without having the unit in my hand, it sounds like the touch display is broken, probably too expensive to repair also You could try eBay and see if there are any second hand ones on there, look for P350 and also P550, I have seen working P550 on there for £50 on a Buy Now option. If your phone is an Android, you can run Memory Maps on that, using the following app MM Tracker try the free version and see if you like it
  7. Scratching is the worst thing to do, and can lead to infection, my tip is drink strong black fresh coffee, not the powdered rubbish!
  8. I see now, I just thought the War of the Roses had flared up again, and the Lancastrian's were showing the Yorkies that we can still win
  9. Yes, my mother and brother and sisters are from Dewsbury. It's in West Riding, Yorkshire. (Or it was!) Perhaps there's another one in greater Manchester? I know Greater Manchester very well, and never heard of a Dewsbury here, I know Bradford is in Greater Manchester though!
  10. I noticed that there is a Dewsbury on the Greater Manchester coin, to be honest I can't think where Dewsbury is in Greater Manchester, I always thought it was in West Yorkshire!
  11. I think that we have to be sensible about this, it's basically south west, and to have a other down there so soon would be unfair on many other regions who have not had one within a reasonable distance of their region.
  12. Birdman-of-liskatraz, the South West had Weston Supermare, and that is definitely in the South West, or am I wrong in my assumption?
  13. I can see that now, thank you. I should have used the term 'Definitive Map' if any, I think. These are available online, with a bit of searching. I've found our county's, so am guessing it is accessible through the various County Council websites. Worth adding that just because a RoW isn't on an OS map, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, either, and the scale of the maps these days don't give a clear enough indication of where a path is. Magic Map tries to stay up to date, it's a big task though as the data comes from many bodies Magic Map
  14. May I remind everyone that an OS map having a marked public right of way on it, does not mean that is a right of way, things change, and the maps often have to catch up. It's always best to check with the recognized body in the area, which can also include National Park Authorities
  15. Lets break away from the doom and gloom of many of threads which are appearing, and have a happy thread of caching tails
  16. If the accusation is in writing, request they provide proof, or you will seek legal advice, have all your paper work ready and at hand. I guess this is certainly not hypothetical, as it appears too remote from Geocaching to be so.
  17. Matt I think here in lies the problem, I'm a Prince 2 project manager, and I know how hard it is to manage a project well, these Mega events are just projects, they have all the elements which require project management; but how many project managers are on event committees? My guess would be few if any. Looking at the size of committees, the larger a committees then the more errors will be made along the way, and the greater the chance of breakdown in the functioning of the project. Personally I find meetings with over 6 people hard to gain results from, and are usually the most unproductive. I'm not sure if the Wales Committee, or the North West Committee have looked at their structures but I'm sure that lessons can be learnt and brought forward for future planning of large events. Take PirateMania as an example, this has a small base committee of a handful of Cachers, yes others come on board and help (team Captain's etc) , but I'm sure by the excellent work Mark and Liane is kept under control and and positive direction is provided by them, you can tell this by just attending this event, you can sense the planning but not see it, it's as if it was always so, and the reason for this, is because we have not noticed the breakdowns, as a small committee can handle these and over come these more than a large committee. But all this said, the event was a success are it reached the Mega main goal of attracting over 500+ Cachers, some from as far as Australia and New Zealand, yes I know things were not 100%, but was it ever going to be with hobbyists mucking in to get it all to work. Can I say, well done to Mega Wales Moote (Milton)
  18. See you are from the North West, you could have traveled with me to South Wales, this year. It was a 100% fun experience for me and quite a few others.
  19. I'm confused my understanding is that the Midlands have just had a Mega Event See Here
  20. You seen the cost of insurance for a a new driver, if I was you, I'd just start looking at Bus timetables
  21. Lets all be friends and hug, no hard feelings among Cachers, well done to all who got the Welsh mega on its way. This is a happy forum, and no one should be allowed to ruin it.
  22. Not wanting to go off topic, but as a professional IT support engineer with both Mac and Windows under my belt, most Mac users don't run antivirus software, and of all the Mac computers I have provided support to I would say 99% had issues due to Virus, or Malware, and it's hard telling a Mac owner that is their issue, but one lady actually paid be double when Apple themselves told her that was the issue. Anyway to answer your question, why not just use the Garmin supplied software, or do you want to also do clever manipulation of the data, if that the case, a Windows VM and GSAK is the best way forward.
  23. Yes it is, dreadful isn't it? I suppose that is your way of saying you can't actually prove you have the said qualifications to back up your argument? I have no intention of intention any thing which could be used for illegal purposes, the black market is full of falsified Degree certificates, many of which had an official source. It's like me asking for your Passport.
  24. Bee-in-the-bonnet? Have you read the tone of your postings, they are aggressive towards me, without justification; the first part clearly demonstrates this.
  25. Is it usual in these forums, for certain miscreants to drag them off topic? I guess Trolls are a hazard on the internet.
