  1. Gordy's is at N 47 28.258 W 121 45.531. It's at a little 9 hole golf course just off the highway on the way up to Rattlesnake Lake. There's always a lot of cars in the parking lot on weekends but that may be just golfers and not eaters. I had lunch there a few years ago and seem to remember the place being a bit bigger than Twede's. They had a pretty good BBQ sandwich.
  2. We're going. With Pepper showing up. how could we not? Party time
  3. An old Chinese woman once told me to call my mother on my birthday and thank her for giving birth to me. I did call my Mom yesterday and thanked her for another year. I also want to thank all of you for the birthday wishes, but more importantly, I want to thank all of you for the great memories over the past year. Fifty ain't so bad if you have good friends. What does a fifty year old do on his birthday???? He goes out and plays in the snow!!!!
  4. Try this one Evergreenhiker!'s Christmas Cache Hey Miss Jen, We did that cache on Christmas Eve two years ago. If you are looking for a special cache to do on Christmas then you might also consider this one near Preston...Oh Tananbaum
  5. I (Lucy here) have to disagree. From what I remember, there were two seperate opportune challenges at diff. times. Cent5 was giving anyone and everyone a chance to win. So that makes it open to the public. Some people won. Some didn't. We'll pay more attention next time if the challenge happens. I am happy for the people that are going. We'd love to tag along someday. And I want to see pictures!
  6. We're thinking to join in and do some cache maintenance along the way.
  7. I miss my friend, Pepper ~Lucy
  8. A cache of ours Confluence (gcffob) was washed away twice. We were able to find it both times by walking where the water flowed. Both times, it was within 50 ft of the coords. We found and replaced the original cache both times The cache is still the original ammo can. Waterproof? I have to say OH YEAH. The last maintenance run, we decided to tie it down and replace the container but it was still dry. Good stuff, huh?
  9. Thanks!!!! And as a reward we got to see Eraseek re-enact his accident of two years ago when he broke his foot.
  10. We don't want Robin and Moun10bike to feel lonely, so we vote for Cle Elum too!!!!

  14. Robin, Keep that cell phone handy all day. We are heading out pretty soon now and will be stopping along the way at the Potholes Coulee caches. We may need a hotline. See ya tonight. Rickie and Lucy (It looks wierd to have my name first)

  18. Here's one that we did a few years ago. We had a great time with it and got some really good art out of it. Kirkland Sculpture Walk The trick is to get people to actually create something and not just have the logbook turn into a bunch of signatures.
  19. Lucy and Rickie stats: 35 placed in rural areas 34 rural caches still active --- 97% still active (the one archived was lost in a flood) 27 placed in urban areas 12 urban caches still active --- 44% still active (of the archived caches 6 were voluntarily archived due to maintenance, camo, or damage issues) Total 62 caches --- 46 still active (74%) --- 16 archived (26%). Gotta go hide more in the woods!!!!
  20. Queen for a Day Congratulations Robin on your 1000th find at "Path of the Watchers"
  21. Those two caches would be ours. Black and Blue have been in place since February 2003. In the three years since they were placed there have only been three wintertime finders. The other 30 plus finders have done the caches by walking up the slopes in summer. Keep that in mind when placing your cache. The container that we used is a 3 X 5 X 1 wallet/sunglass holder that we found at REI. These containers have a hard plastic outer shell and are lined with felt. They have a snap lock lid with a rubber seal around the opening. They also have a predrilled lanyard hole at the top of the container. This was important for the way we hid them. We used about twelve feet of 2 mil nylon cord for each container. Tied one end to the container and the other end as high up in a tree as you can reach. At the time we placed the cache I figure that the snow was about five feet deep and I got the rope tied about six feet above that. I then threw the container and any extra cord into the tree well on the side of the tree oposite the ski run.
  22. December 2001. 'Rickie' had shown an interest in the confluence project. I didn't know what to buy him for Christmas that year so I hightailed it down to REI to buy a GPS. I wrapped it up and put it under the tree. A couple of days before Christmas he saw an article in the paper about geocaching. He was very happy with his gifts that year I just went along with him. It seemed kinda silly to me. We both like getting outdoors and you can't ski EVERY weekend. That is, until we did M10B's Leonardo cache series. I was hooked after that. What fun!
  23. Mine too! Ours have been done for almost a week.
  24. Four cachers on the road!!!!! Pepper, Tiag, and L&R are on the way to Bellingham...see you on the road.
