  1. One thing that has been missed in this list is the cache placed in a location frequently used as a dog toilet. I do not want to rekindle the debate on cleaning up but have done a few caches where there are lots of heaps of poo or bags containing it right where the cache is supposed to be. Yuck! CallieB
  2. There is also a pinned topic at the top you could add this to to make it permanent for the future
  3. We have 2 ETrex H and use a serial lead with a serial->usb adapter and have used the same thing on XP Vista and Win 7 The USB adapter came from Maplin (dearer than most but I use it for 3 different units)... with Premium membership we download PQs to GSAK(free /cheap software) and then upload to the H the caches for the area we are heading for.. Doing it this way you can choose what 'name' you see on the H we use the smartname from GSAK which is a unique title that GSAK sets up but you can also send GC nos etc but with the new longer GC numbers you have to get GSAK to strip off the GC from the start
  4. Union of Reviewers and Moderators or URM... well it is what you say when you see some of the caches in the queue
  5. Ok so as near as I can get... from one of my kitecam pics at the WSMega beach event 6 Geezers playing
  6. Drifting has always been illegal on public roads ..... But I thing due care and attention would cover it
  7. do the PQ result in more than 500 caches?? if so they will be download only
  8. Nah hasn't been reviewing long enough for that
  9. My thought would be to make it Mega only but that would include ANY event organized by the then Current Mega committee both before and during the 'main' event
  10. Should have gone to Spec****** about half way down page 2 linky thing
  11. At least you're in the loop and know the circumstances that led to this rule being brought in. The rest of us have just had to guess. No... but I am sure that the Reviewing team don't make up the rules as they go along they are reacting to a complaint (s) and my post was general in reply to PUP and not directly about this latest tightening... But to get back to this latest 'problem' As I said if you have permission to place the cache how much extra effort is it to get proof If everyone 'did it right' there would be no need to tighten any rules
  12. Just posting to clarify the comment above. If the OP is read carfully it will be seen that this is nothing to do with "reactions from landowners". So how large a majority or small a minority is this "number of community members"? The first bit of my post was in reply to PUP's creeping rules in general sorry if I wasn't clear but your second quote shows that cachers were not happy with a placement and whether it's a minority there must have been enough to make the reviewers sit up and look at the problem
  13. If cachers placed caches with thought then there wouldn't be any need for rule creep... Dave and team are only responding to reactions from landowners about caches that must not have had permission to be there or that cachers were disrespecting the area. And in the general flow of this thread why should we need a discussion about something that we should be doing anyway.. All caches have 'permission' to be there the only change is you have to prove it We are like foxes.. while we played in the countryside we were mostly ignored but as we become more urbanised we will upset more and more people hence more and more rules. if you eat the chickens expect a few fences to be put up
  14. Can you give the gc number for that one please? GCD182 Don't believe the info on the cache page about using a day boat... It now needs a flat bottom (boat) or a canoe type boat and a good high tide
  15. Just to be difficult cross the border into Suffolk (Just) and do any by the Bassetts... not too far south from GY List
  16. Think of it another way if all caches were 'good' ones and had a nice long walk and a lovely view you would have nothing to compare them to ... and when you have seen your 200th hill and dale would it still be as good. Make the most of the good ones and treat them as a reward for all those pots in a bush you have had to do And for some of us those hill walks are not possible and those caches in a lay-by are the only way we can carry on caching (good idea for a film???)
  17. As the cache was placed with permission maybe they have permission to leave it there..... The contents of the box are there to be swapped not taken...... if Groundspeak agreed with it's removal they would allow adoption ... they don't... they say the cache box belongs to the setter. Or it could be listed in another place As I said in my first post I agree it's geolitter and should be removed ... all I was trying to say is be careful there were a lot of people on here who agreed that you should go to the police if someone took YOUR box
  18. A Couple of weeks ago a lot of people on here were saying that removing someone else's cache is theft...... and should be reported to the police.... I agree it's geolitter... but be careful it still belongs to the cache setter
  19. Depending when in October we would be interested in giving any help we can... Might also be worth having a look at the EACachers forum as well as we have a few members in this area address in our sig below Dave and Sue
  20. It's either a very old cache... or the cacher who set it ticked the box to say they had adequate permission !!!
  21. Surely the whole point is that the landowner seems to be blaming the cachers whether they did it or not. The cache is there without permission... I wouldn't have like to have been the cacher at the box when the land owner turned up after this damage was caused
