  1. I could never get plucker to work for me, so moved on to other software. I got the impression the author was coming out with a replacement that would't be free. Have you been to his web site lately?
  2. California has a lot of caches that were placed when the nearby poison oak was small, several years and 5 feet of growth latter they're a 4.5 for me
  3. Last time i looked Pitcairne island has a cache and it's waiting for the FTF!!! One party logged a dnf cause the surf was too high for them to land on the beach. Go for it
  4. there are 2 in Reno, both interesting and both different. both are puzzles so easy to fine.
  5. got mine at amazon for $33 minus $10 rebate
  6. Hi A couple of weeks ago amazon had ms streets & trips on sale for $23 so I bot a copy. Cities vary greatly as to how many caches they have and even more so, in some cities there are great cache clusters in parks. By downloading several thousand caches & dumping them into S&T, I can pan the map and see all of this much, much more easily than the maps here at GC.com. ms S&T isn't really designed for cachers, but it's easier than GC maps. Getting lots of ideas for spring trips looking at these maps, I can get last minute changes just before I go.
  7. Enzip is a good freeware utility for handling zip files, or open a DOS box and use unzip from PKZIP.
  8. Hi thx for the help, but I get this error message: error in macro at line:2 While .not. $_eol Error=> Invalid macro command: While macro will now abort
  9. over 500, so where do I find the %smartcode ?? I've never run a gsak macro, so I need to start at square one. thx
  10. I don't understand why you don't want others to see your count or what caches you've visited, but in any case, if you log in late, your post probably won't be one of the last 5, or at least not for long. So only the cache owner will read it, in which case why log anything other than "Found it"???
  11. I have a PQ that just has virtual caches in it and I'd like to rename all of them Vxxxx from GCxxxx. I looked thru the first several pages of the GSAK pin, but it was mostly nattering rather than ideas or problem solving. thx in advance
  12. Just got streets & trips 2006, I used GSAK to convert a .gpx file to a .csv file, but when I try to "open" that in S&T's, I get an error message: "Bad format" Then like all MS products, instead of helping me get a good format it just exits. How do I get a "good format" ?
  13. Use the filters to get a selection of 500 or less. 1. Use the date placed, a. only caches placed before jan 2004 b. only " after jan 2004 2.or use difficulty, a. only caches greater than 2.5 b. only less than 2.5 3. Use a smaller radius than 100 miles
  14. I came to this tread from another web site that had this quote from over a year ago: "Update on October 22, 2004: Last Notes This forum thread indicates that Jeremy Irish at Geocaching.com is working on SOME type of solution since this is one of the hottest requests. I have no idea when it will be complete." What are the odds it'll happen in this century?
  15. Did you notice what I wrote only 8 posts ago in this very topic? I think this must be the very first intra-topic Markwell. Do I win a prize? You'll get a prize when you can figure out how to get Jeremy to add this often requested improvement.
  16. Has anyone written a simple share/free ware program that can look at 2 <or more> .gpx files and find the duplicates?
  17. I'm disappointed also, has anyone suggested this idea? Instead of a circle with a radius, define a rectangle with 4 coordinates marking the four corners? e.g. 38.20.000 & 38.50.000 mark the latitude range and 121.05.000 & 121.40.000 mark the longitude range. All caches in that range would be included subject to the other filters in the make a pocket query. Instead of having circles that overlap, and extend to who knows where on a map that is rather vague unless a person uses a compass to scribe a circle, the box would be easy to see on maps. A series of long skinny boxes could, more or less pick up the caches along a moderately straight road.
  18. every time I find a cache I delete it from my gps. that cleans up the map so I don't end up coming back to the old one's again:> Before a trip I use easyGPS to print pages of the caches I plan to visit Usually not more than 12 caches to a page so I have room to write notes. As I get them I number the finds in order, and write dnf by those. When I get home I keep a text file log of the caches with usually a comment about the cache for helping my own memory if I want to review it in the future.
  19. Yes. Pretty much right away. That is a PayPal support question. Thanks, JamieZ, for the PayPal support. At Paypal: "If you would like to cancel this subscription, log in to your PayPal account and go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose this subscription, and click on its "Status." You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription." Done
  20. Yes, this is a PayPal issue, and not a GC.com issue. and since Keystone isn't a PayPal support rep, I thought I'd take the liberty of doing your PayPal homework for you: eCheck An eCheck is an electronic funds transfer that withdraws money directly from your bank account. It's just like writing a check, only it is done electronically. When you send money with an eCheck from a U.S. bank account, the transaction is held as pending for 3-4 business days, until the electronic funds transfer clears your bank. When I make an eCheck payment, when will the money be debited from my bank account? PayPal sends the request to your bank immediately. It can take up to four business days to complete an electronic funds transfer. If your bank initially declines the electronic funds transfer, the payment can be delayed for up to an additional seven business days. In this case, the Expected Clearing Date listed in the recipient's transaction history is updated to reflect the new date. You're welcome. Jamie The reference you point to is at Paypal not here, If I'd used Paypal credit card would that have gone thru today? Can I cancel the echeck?
  21. I don't find any notice anywhere at gc.com that if Paypal debits a checking account it will take longer than if they charge a credit card. Paypal is paypal, point me to a reference
  22. I didn't pay with a check, I used Paypal, isn't that quicker?
  23. "This membership does not exist." What a useless error message, if my membership doesn't exist, how am I able to post messages here ???
