  2. Someone directed me to http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com They have a bunch of maps that will work on a Garmin gps. But how is this doen? They have a binary and a built sourse to choose from, which one? then what do I do with it? thx Jimmy

  4. I bought it in Jan 2005, how do I tell what version software it has? thx jimmy Whew, was able to answer my own question, go to main menu setup system click left box at top click software version Mine is 3.70 Ready to go!
  5. When the eTrex Legend was first produced it supported up to 500 waypoints and that was the limit up through firmware release 2.50. Then in firmware 3.10 the limit was increased to 1000 waypoints and there were also increases in the number of points in the tracklogs and in routes. So if the firmware version in your Legend is 3.10 or higher then you're all set. Otherwise you can download the latest firmware from Garmin's website (free) and update your Legend to get the larger number of waypoints. I bought it in Jan 2005, how do I tell what version software it has? thx jimmy
  6. The book says a garmin etrex legend can only hold 500 waypoints, but I've heard that it can really hold 1000. Does a person need to do something like upgrade software for this? Or is the capacity just underrated? I'll be doing a 2 week trip soon & would like to put 800 to 1000 in if possible.
  7. On the pda only, I didn't see any point in transfering only 2.

  10. A lot of people don't like puzzles, so what I'm doing is make a puzzle, then after a few months I'll have a multi that leads to the puzzle cache. People can choose which way they want to get there. Here's an example: ...Like ants http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...44-9884454c4ba4

I'd like to put them into a GSAK database, When I click on "receive waypoints" I get the error message: receiving waypoints error sending waypoints Garmin: Can't init COM1 I tried closing the hotsync in the system tray, but that didn't make any difference. 17. East of Reno there is an interesting cache at Soda lake, even if you don't go there the write up on the cache page is interesting. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5b-62137b29d033
  18. so why do you care? I've seen several people "log" virtual Tbugs in exotic locations, this seems to be accepted. Try to find some pleasure in life without bossing other people.
  19. Good luck with Magellan's unlock policy I believe you can only use 2 cards without forking over extra $$$ to Magellan ... People tell me you have 5 codes with Magellan, compared to 2 with garmin

  21. conincidence, an hour ago I was reading in Newsweek about how the head guy is peeling off hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for his personal benefit. Might want to look for another charity. Isn't that old news? That came out back in 2003. Are you reading this in a dentist office? The story may have started 2 years ago, but the dec 19, 2005 Time has more on it. Had been reading both magazines yesterday & see now it's in Time. The stench doesn't seem to go away
  22. If you really got 5 trespassing violations totally (sic) nearly $350 in the last 4 years; you must not be very bright. Maybe you should try another sport, skydiving maybe?
